Interview went ok. They did catch me off guard with a couple of questions. But fingers crossed for a positive result!
I got another call from a recruiter for a government contract job that pays literally double what I was making before. So that's a good backup.
Do you know when they will get back to you?
What’s the government job looking like? More work or more advanced skill set required?
Hopefully tomorrow at the latest. It would greatly grow my skillset and career in general.
Government job is actually easier, but contract is only 6 months. Wouldn't be learning anything new, but pay is remarkable.
So pros and cons to each.
Today is the first day in over 3 weeks I've had any time to myself. Not even 10 minutes to myself. I don't regard a walk in a crowded park as having time to myself.
I'm fucking exhausted and emotional.
Hugs. From a distance so you don't feel ambushed.
Did I just spend over 5 solid hours in the same position on the couch trying to solve a question on a Stack Exchange website? (for a grand total of 2 internet points because most of the userbase isn't online at this time)
...really better go and have a walk now geez.
Yay, pick up the keys to the new unit today.
Nonsense drama on my street today. Tomorrow is bin day, some residents have rolled out their green waste bin, whilst others (myself included as it's the correct one) rolled out the recycling bin.
One neighbour asked me how I knew (checked the council website to verify) and quickly corrected his mistake.
The neighbour that had a blue with his missus rolled out his green one and gave me a very patronizing smirk.
When my bin gets emptied I'm going to wait until he's outside to roll mine in. Debating whether to blow him a kiss or just wave enthusiastically.
I wondering what the person who asked how you knew thinks the system is. I am imaging them asking with bewilderment, how do you know which bin it is?!? Maybe they think it’s random each week and you are a magician who can see the future.
They're the type that would go to the council office and ask instead of checking online.
It was passed down in the lore... only to those who would listen to the Elders...
I have arrived in Albury pretty glad to have decided to break up the drive. I could have pushed through but it would have been rough near the end I suspect.
Lovely day here too! I was expecting rain but found sunshine.
Yeah you missed all the fun on Sunday and Monday - driving down the Hume in Vic would've been an absolute blast those two days. Now it's back to being boring!
I've been awake since like 2:30am and can't get back to sleep.. but the plus side of that is that I got to see the underside of the Sydney Harbour Bridge about 25 minutes ago. Pretty keen to get off the ship and on the road apparently. I'm glad I went to bed relatively early!
Still won't be able to disembark for 2 hours due to the customs staff not being at the terminal until 6:30am.. which is ok because the car hire place doesn't open until 7:30am.
Hurry up, time!
Was the 4th off the ship and I booked my Uber from the gangway like a boss so my car was ready for me as soon as I walked out. Beat the surge pricing hell yeeeeahhh!
Although I am at the rental car place 35 minutes before they open.
Have a safe drive back mate, don't push it too hard on low sleep - there's still some rain hanging around Goulburn heading east, hopefully it clears up by the time you hit the frog and toad.
Work has been busy from the get go this year. Isn't the first week back in January supposed to be cruisey?
I've got a meeting for a new contractor position on Thursday where the $$ earning potential is very good so fingers crossed that goes well. I've got another business on the hook that wants to sign me up as well. Between them, I think I could make a decent enough living (with the added flexibility) so I can escape my hellhole workplace ASAP. This is the place that asked me to voluntarily leave last year. Coming back to it in the new year has been rougher than expected. I'm not invested in this job at all anymore, and faking/forcing it while waiting for the perfect role is super exhausting. I need out.
I don't wanna go to work today. ☹️ Is anyone able to go in and impersonate me for a day instead? Can pay in zucchini.
I'll do it for 17,000 zucchinis
That is a lot of zucchinis. I might need to pay in installments. Would you accept a payment plan of 5 zucchinis a week over the summer period for the next 283 years?
Why do cows eat grass?
For the moo-trients.
It's dumb, but my God does that make me giggle.
Tell me an udder joke
Thank you!! I stood straight up and told that to my boss, who just shook his head at me while I sat back down and giggled for a bit.
I wouldn't ruminant on it.
😐
This is my latest creation. I call it The Nest
A creme caramel centre with vanilla icecream and ice magic. So good. So bad. But so really good.
That looks delicious. 🤤
It's very naughty but if ya gonna do it, go big I say. It's out of my system now.
Put it in me
😂
My favourite dress seems to have been discontinued. I must have worn to bits at least twenty of these over the years, it’s damn near my uniform. Now the horrors of finding something new and dressing room mirrors 😾
Catfish wear dresses?
You were expecting a boiler suit?
If you can sew maybe you can use an old dress to cut a pattern for a new one.
I’ve already got some similar patterns but have put off attempting them. Size grading and all that fuss. Boobs are inconvenient.
Hate that so much. I feel you on the uniform.
I don’t know what the budget is but perhaps a tailor could recreate it in different colours?
There’s always finding a similar pattern but the same fit isn’t guaranteed. Recreating it yourself is possible too but could require taking it apart.
I’ve tried the ways of making a pattern without unpicking the garment but had issues not distorting the pieces which screwed with the shape of the armholes.
Sewing is a skill and can be a bit of an undertaking :(
Isn’t it funny that over the break I slept fantastically. Solid every night, just about never needing to get up for the toilet, etc, but back to work and I’m awake at 4am musing over the stupidest things – not even always work related! Very frustrating.
You slept?! Lucky. I went to bed at 11, think I fell asleep like 3am? feel like death warmed up.
Oh noes! I hope you get a bit of rest today and a better sleep tonight!
It’s so annoying, isn’t it?!
So frustrating! Especially when the kitty realises you're restless, so he comes in for love and cuddles (but really wants you to get up feed him), but you try to remove him from the bed and end up with kitty claw embedded in your thigh, which causes you to shout out and wake up the dog who then decides he needs to go out to pee and then do his senior stompy zoomies around the house...
Thought I'd give the housemate a break from making my meals since I still can't touch any shared spaces, so I ordered some lunch with enough leftovers for tea and jesus fkn christ it's highway robbery out there.
We found a Thai joint on the weekend that was ridiculously cheap. Like pre-covid cheap. 4 mains, 1 entree, 1 large coconut rice...under $75 (take away)
I saw their website pricing and had to call to make sure it wasn't an old site.
Can't leave us hanging like that.
Here's the only asian place near me down here on the bellarine.
Peak season nosebleed pricing.
The begonias in the hanging basket are looking nice.
Beautiful!
Thanks.
and a surprise, I didn't expect they would grow back at all
Work has confiscated all our desk bins. Got a plastic bag. What an innovation.
However they spin it, It's a money saving thing. Cleaners are cheaper if they aren't dealing with desk bins.
I always think I'm going to enjoy some family free time when it's coming up, then I get it and I'm lonely the first night. Empty house and all that. On the flip side, I'm having garlic bread for dinner.
aww. I know the house felt empty when young Miss Seagoon left after staying 5 months.
I’ve only had 1 nighters solo so far, and I’ve gotta say it was amazing! Actually no I tell a lie they were held in the hospital a couple of extra nights when he was born and the last night damn near killed me.
About to begin building a new 'puter.
Old main workhorse desktop just decided to kick the bucket. 13yrs it lasted me! We had our ups and downs but now that it's finally gone it won't get jeaslous of the new one.
But reading up on the way to go for the next build... jeez things have moved on. Thankfully I don't need a gfx card those prices are stupid.
I will try and resurrect ol' mate one or two more times but after that it's going in the 'puter graveyard :(
My husband likes to collect the magnets from his old computers and stick them on his filing cabinet and hangs shit off them.
heh that's a great idea.
Same, I used to collect speaker magnets too.
hmm. Drier than expected after the deluge prods with stick
Don’t wake it up, I’ve got paint to dry!
Oh I wish. The joy of living and working in a former swamp.... it's swampy!
Lmao i live in moorabbin
Right? Suspiciously so.
Audio books are great. I have listened to one science book and half a true crime book ( Narcos ) this year already. My mind feels refreshed and I don't feel guilty for not reading. 🤓I have also read 3 chapters of an art book from Tate Gallery.
I totally recommend audio books. 👍
Because you mentioned it the other day I started listening to a true crime book. I've heard most of the stories but it was good because they were short 15 minute chapters. ☺
Cool. :)
I really enjoy them too. I haven’t listened to much non fiction, so can’t recommend any. But I recently finished Daisy Jones and the Six. It’s a perfect book for audio, as it’s a story told from the perspective of different characters and each has a different narrator, works really well.
I'm in a weird silly mood tonight. Maybe it's the sunshine. ☺
I already typed this out then I pressed something and it disappeared. Sorry if it attached to someone else's comment. ☺
☺
☺ sky so pretty
🍷 !!!!
Turns out the Mystery Car I booked ended up being the non-turbo base model version of my car!
It's fine on the highway but it is making me appreciate the turbo and the extras my car has. Glad I got to drive this.
Man subaru used to have such good colours! makes the modern ones look a but uninspired.
Mine is a great colour! (Not the rental)
Loud sounds of something like a chainsaw here in the inner NE, very late at night, going on for quite a while... I'm going to guess SES it's dealing with a large tree in imminent danger of failing. Who the fuck else would do it past midnight.
It's Ted Cat . That boy yells a racket.
I wish something encouraging would happen. Everything is just a slog
I have had Richard Marx' "Hazard" stuck in my head for days. I have no idea why. Plz send help.
you bastard....
leave it by the river.
Back to the office today. Ugh
First really nice day weatherwise for a week ... wouldn't you just know it.
"Ugh" is putting it mildly.

Why do some people walk on the road when there is a perfectly good footpath right next to it? Is getting hit by a car on their to do list?
Could be lots of reasons. They could be antisocial and enjoy upsetting car drivers. They could be phobic and don't want to be constrained by paths. They could come from a place where it's common to walk on roads because there aren't many cars.
Or it could be a snow day and the only place with no snow is the middle of the road. :)
I have wondered that myself recently. There are a couple of people who regularly walk down my road and avoid the footpath. Perhaps a phobia of pavement cracks?
Gotta watch out for bears.
Nice to have a quiet day . :)
