Self-Hosting Update: Migration to GitHub Container Registry

Hi everyone,

Due to recent Docker container limitations, we have migrated our images from Docker Hub to GitHub Container Registry.

If you are deploying using methods that do not utilize the bitwarden(.)sh or bitwarden(.)ps1 scripts, please take a moment to update your image references to the new GitHub Container Registry URLs.

bluetuith-shim-windows: A shim and command-line tool to use Bluetooth Classic features on Windows.

Hello Lemmy,

This is an extension of the bluetuith TUI Bluetooth Manager project, which was initially developed for Linux, and is now being ported to Windows as well. This will allow the TUI to manage Bluetooth on Windows. Note that this is just a shim, the TUI will be ported to adapt with this shim later.

This tool offers a simple command-line interface and a socket-based interface (as an interprocess communication layer) to control Bluetooth Classic based functions, like:

  • Getting adapter information, performing device discovery, setting power states
  • Getting device information, pairing/unpairing a device
  • Connection to a device using various Bluetooth profiles
    • The supported profiles are A2DP, MAP, PBAP and OPP
    • Each connectable profile appears as a subcommand of the connect command
    • Every subcommand has multiple functions. View the documentation for more information.

This is currently alpha stage, so do expect bugs. Any bugs can be reported in the issue tracker.

First i'd like to say i got this tip from the user Elinriel on GW2 forum:

Recently a user made a post saying performance was dropping a lot on meta events of PoF, my suggestion was to swap the game render to vulkan using DXVK but as i see people dont know how to do it or think this is a linux thing so i'm writing this guide to help people out there get better performance in the game.

In my experience, using DX11 the game stutters a lot on cities like Lions Arch / Diviners Reach and doing world bosses mean the fps would drop to 15 sometimes. After changing to DXVK the game runs like butter for me and i did all metas on PoF return event without fps dropping

Siete in ottima compagnia.

DuckDuckGo introduce Duck Player

duckduckgo.com About Duck Player

Duck Player is a free YouTube player available in the DuckDuckGo browser that lets you watch videos on YouTube without privacy-invading ads and keeps what you watch from impacting your recommendations.‌‌

The sounds of people speaking is very quiet

This is the same issue as this and this.

Does anyone have a solution that allows me to use the full stereo? (not just the half stereo that AliCheese mentioned)

I have had this issue before, but have not found a fix that allows me to use stereo.

Things I have tried:

  • Unplugging it and plugging it back in again
  • Using other audio ports
  • Restarting computer
  • Disabling all sound effects in sound properties and Realtek Audio Manager
  • Uninstalling Realtek Audio Manager

Additionally, microblogging support has now caught up to thread support, thanks to @olorin99. Now, viewing, voting, boosting, etc. is supported on posts. Also, @olorin99 has added support for editing and deleting your own threads, posts, and comments.

A few other features added since the last thread here include support for replying to a thread, post, or another comment, a built-in YouTube video player, an interactive view for images (which supports scaling and panni

  Possibility of clipboard sync functionality.

There used to be XClipper

But it's not developed anymore because, according to the developer Kaustubh Patange:

with Android 10, Google removed clipboard monitoring through the background process. [...] After quite a lot of research, I discovered a hack that enables clipboard monitoring for Android 10 devices. Although this feature is still in BETA with lot's of functionality missing. I made this project open source so developers can contribute their solution to this project.

What happened with this "hack" and the findings of Mr. Patange?

Did Android simply kill the possibility of such a sync function?

Microsoft's own Android Keyboard Swiftkey (yea I know, but I really need some functions of it) allows the syncing of clipboard content between Android and Windows. However, I heard that it's bad security and privacy practice to even enable clipboard history on Windows. I d

Nicotine Plus - Graphical Client For The Soulseek Peer-To-Peer Network For Music & Files

Nicotine+

Nicotine+ is a graphical client for the Soulseek peer-to-peer network.

Nicotine+ aims to be a pleasant, free and open source (FOSS) alternative to the official Soulseek client, providing additional functionality while keeping current with the Soulseek protocol.

Soulseek is a file sharing network for mostly Music but also other files. The most available format for songs are MP3, M4A and FLAC. Almost any song/album is on there so you will have no problem finding what you need. You need to share files yourself otherwise there is a possibility you will get banned. I added a YouTube video tutorial so you can understand it better.

Lemmy versus IPv6: over half the Lemmy servers can't reach IPv6!

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/1390029

cross-posted from: https://popplesburger.hilciferous.nl/post/9969

After setting up my own Lemmy server, I've been intrigued by the server logs. I was surprised to see some search engines already start to crawl my instances despite it having very little content.

I've noticed that most requests seem to come in from IPv4 addresses, despite my server having both an IPv4 and an IPv6 address. This made me wonder.

IPv4 addresses are getting more scarce by the day and large parts of the world have to share an IPv4 address to get access to older websites. This often leads to unintended fallout, such as thousands of people getting blocked by an IP ban from a site admin that doesn't know any better, as well as anti-DDoS providers throwing up annoying CAPTCHA pages because of bad traffic coming from the shared IP address. Furthermore, hosting a Lemmy server of your own is impossible behind a shared IP address, so IPv6 i
