  • @GamersMate Oh, 100% Everything around Kbin aside, Ernest had a ton of stuff going on in his personal life that should totally take precedent over this here.

I did see the post about applications for instance-wide moderators, which Kbin definitely needs. But I don't believe any action has been taken past the announcement yet.

But that's really interesting. I just checked and I got a notification for your last comment over on my Mbin account as well. I don't know if maybe it has something to do with the fact that my Mbin account is subscribed to this magazine as well and got looped in as well or what? I may have to look into it and see if either it's just a bug or if I'm doing something wrong lol.

  • @GamersMate pretty much, yeah. The post is hidden in the magazine and on the spam account's profile, but the post isn't fully deleted. And the spam account isn't affected in any way, even if we directly report it as there's no one here with admin privileges who can actually delete accounts or posts.

  • @viking there's been no official announcement or anything, but the last change to Kbin's software was about 4 months ago, and there are no admins here who have the ability to block or ban accounts or other instances, so spam can only be hidden not removed from magazines that still have moderators.

Migration of Windows Insiders magazine to Mbin

Hello members of the Windows Insiders magazine,

After much contemplation, I have made the decision to migrate this magazine, in addition to the other magazines I moderate, to Mbin.

kbin.social is clearly no longer under active development, and in addition to suffering from several technical problems, kbin.social is also suffering from a huge spam problem. As such, from the perspective of both a user of Kbin and a moderator of several magazines, I believe the best way to move forward is to migrate these magazines over to Mbin.

This magazine will be moving over to kbin.run at @windowsinsiders

I will continue to check in over here occasionally for the next few weeks, but otherwise from here on out this magazine is considered inactive and will not be fully moderated. Going forward, any new threads or discussions should instead be posted in the new magazine.

Of course if you don’t want to move your account to a different instance, you absolutel

We are beginning to roll out a preview version of the Photos app built with the Windows App SDK (WASDK) to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels on Windows 11. This change moves Photos to the latest Windows app development platform, with modern UI and other quality and performance improvements.

All the current Photos app features and functionality is still present in this version. However, given the extensive changes, this version may be a little rough around the edges as we continue to polish the experience. To get this experience, Windows Insiders on Windows 11 in the Canary and Dev channels can update the Photos app to version number 2024.11040.1002.0.

  • Haven't had a ton of free time today to look over everything yet, but the Samsung display stuff I saw was pretty neat. Especially the transparent display. Lenovo also announced a neat 2-in-1 PC/tablet that runs both Windows and Android in their respective modes.

  • Yeah, I certainly hope not. I'm fairly confident the two storylines will stay independent from one another.

  • @sudoxe
Yeah, I personally use most of their in-box apps, but it's great that they're giving us the option to uninstall some of the ones we don't want anymore.

  • @highhomes1994 I hadn't noticed it before, but I just checked and yeah it shows the same thing for me. I wonder what's going on with that. 🤔

  • Exactly. It can get quite overwhelming very quickly.

  • I know, it can be a little bit of a mess at times. Especially if you've been gone for a day or two. I think there needs to be some better way of sorting through all the notifications automatically. Like different sections for replies/mentions, new threads, microblogs, etc. or something.

  • There are a few different things I try to do each day to find little moments of happiness here and there. Anything, no matter how small, can have a bigger impact on our mental health than we may initially think. When I have the time, I like to sit down and do a little bit of coding, or do some design work for a new project I want to start (even though there's a high chance I'll move on from it soon 😅). Also getting into a good book is always nice, spending time hiking or just going to a park somewhere, or even a little DIY craft project can be a lot of fun. But when I'm a little busier even little things like music, or journaling, or even a drink I really enjoy can all go a long way in boosting my mood.
