  • I don't understand it either, when I'm playing a video game (except for certain games that are very stylized) I want it to feel like I'm looking through my character's eyes rather than a camera lens. Maybe it's because they think that's what people want when they watch a trailer?

  • its the most popular addon for stalker anomaly, just sort by most downloaded of all time. oh and maybe install the other mods it recommends to go with it. they add finishing touches to the game that make it really immersive

I spent months playing stalker without graphics mods.

Well I feel like a real idiot right now, I've played stalker anomaly for a long time now. And because I like a stutter free, high refresh rate experience. I hadn't used the graphics upgrade mod. Well my dumb ass didn't fully read through the description, and it turns out it actually increases your performance..

Sure enough I booted up stalker anomaly with the screen space shaders mod, and the game runs a little better than it did. and looks like an AAA game from 2018.

I dunno if any of you play stalker anomaly, but don't skip over this mod.

  • An 8bitdo Ultimate 2 or Gamesir Cyclone 2 are the best options, they have built in rechargeable batteries and they're the best in every other regard. they also work wired, just like nearly every other wireless controller nowadays.

  • This was actually a major gripe I had when playing Jersey Devil on my PS1, once I found out about emulators I created a custom controller config for it that made it much more playable though.

  • Metroid Prime Hunters and Moon are both great examples of what the DS is capable of, but they both struggle to be fun as videogames because of the stylish camera controls, what I mean by under-utilized is that a significant portion of the DS library Is 2d pixel art graphics, in games that would have benefited a lot from 3d, even within the same franchise. like super princess peach having essentially GBA graphics when New Super Mario Bros had fancy rendering and 3d assets for many aspects of the game.

  • As far as hardware gimmicks go, I agree that the WiiU's gamepad could've done so much more, I can think of so many different unique ways a game could've made use of it, like having two different perspectives or mini games like in GTA Chinatown wars.

    Most under-utilized consoles?

Is there any retro consoles that you never lived up to their potential? where the games fell short of the hardware?.

Personally I feel that the NDS was under-utilized, as it was a fully 3d capable console, that was used mostly for 2d pixel art games, and platformers. When it was able to support full 3d platformers and even a fan remake of portal.

  • Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii both have random matchmaking, but for Mario Kart DS the only reliable way to find a lobby is to ping the Mario Kart DS discord server, although at peak hours there may be between 3 and 7 people playing Mario Kart DS even without pinging the chat. I actually played a match yesterday like that.

PSA: You can still play Wii and DS games online, even on emulators.

Thanks to Wiimmfi, Modded Wii's and any DS can still play online. even using Dolphin or MelonDS.

Anyone else quit S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 to play Anomaly?

I really loved stalker 2 but between the blood suckers that take 4 mags to kill, and crashes and corrupted save files. I had enough and I'm back to playing anomaly. anyone else?

Graduating highschool and wanting to work as a programmer, advice?

I'm a junior in highschool and will be graduating next year, and the degree that makes the most sense to me is computer science. I've always loved using and tinkering with technology, and learning about it when I can.

I've taken the CS50p course as an introduction to coding, and have really enjoyed the problem solving nature of programming. I just don't know what the industry is like, and people keep saying the job market for CS majors is terrible. so I'm not 100% sure that a computer science degree would be right for me. any advice?

update: I've gotten a lot of good advice from comments and have decided to start a personal project of some sort, to test the waters and see if this is something I can do and enjoy as a hobby outside the CS50p course. thanks to everyone who responded!

Lossless Scaling added adaptive frame generation!

I've tested it in several games and had good results, especially in those that are CPU bound and vary in frame rate a lot. below are my qualitative results from different games. My monitor is 180hz 1440p, frame gen is on it's default settings, and when using fixed mode I cap my fps at 90.

Teardown: Keeps the game looking smooth even when doing higher amounts of destruction, looks better than a fixed multiplier because of the high variability of the game's performance depending on the situation.

Helldivers 2: Slightly worse artifacting, also slightly smoother when in extreme situations with lots of enemies on screen. I prefer a fixed multiplier because of the lower artifacting, but its honestly about the same.

GTA V Enhanced: For some reason adaptive frame gen gives me unplayable levels of input lag in GTA 5, and unstable frame rates, whereas a fixed multiplier works fine.

    Noita: the exact same.

anyone else have thoughts on this update, or lsfg in general?
