An unofficial chapter of the popular Dull Men's Club.
1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.
2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.
3. Avoid repetitive topics.
4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.
There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.
Some other communities to consider before posting:
Made a firewood pile today
We had a storm tear off a lot of branches from the old maples in our yard. I took the larger stuff and sliced it up for our fire pit. There's something satisfying about a nice stack of wood.
I changed the oil in my car.
First time I did it by myself. Only spilled a little.
I cleaned the microwave today
It was splattered with tomato sauce. I even put the glass tray in the dishwasher
I fixed my gf's thongs
Nice to know I hadn't been saving all those different size keyrings for nothing. Fast fashion? Not on my watch.
Changed my guitar strings today
Broke the B string yesterday while noodling, so today I changed all the strings and cleaned up ol' blue.
Cleaned up my shop
After several small projects, it was time for a cleaning and organizing. Spent like 3 hours and the place is still a disorganized wreck. I've just got too much shit in a little building.
I also dropped a clamp on my foot, -2hp.
But, the place is somewhat less dusty now.
I gave blood today.
We don't get paid for it in Australia but it'll go to helping someone who needs it.
Ate a lemon cake today
It was one of those Little Debbie's Mother's Day things, I'm gonna have to get several more boxes before they discontinue them.
Bought a bottle/tank of propane today for the BBQ
Getting ready for the summer. Had to run around town because even though they exchange empty tanks for full ones at the gas station, they will not sell you a completely new tank.

This is what I get for being curious.
New slippers came in
They are soft.
Old ones were nice, but got worn out. Same model was no longer available.
I decided to not go shopping today.
Took a nap instead. I threw my back out a week ago, and sleeping is difficult. But I happened to be on the bed earlier and found a position that didn't hurt, so I was like "oh yeah, I'm not moving" and had an incredible nap.
I soaped some old drawers
They slide in nice and smooth now. Wish I'd done it months ago, it was very easy.
I cleaned the birdhouses on my yard
It’s been a few years. I chuckled a bit at this - it looks like a couple of nests stacked on top of each other. Also, it makes me feel weirdly proud to see that birds have accepted my self-made houses for nesting.
I arranged to pull out some serious front end damage dents on my mom's car to prepare to install a new radiator.
I was the one that took the photo, the other fella holding the crowbar was my assistant.
The radiator won't be going in today, but you gotta start somewhere, and a partly wrecked front end surely wasn't getting it..
Ran an ethernet cord in my house the proper way
Am electrician and live in a double-wide so I haven't tinkered with it beyond swapping some devices. Feels good to be able to just do stuff like this, as simple as it is. I was not raised to be very handy so learning all this has been a deliberate process.
Uh, this doesn't count as a legal, professional consultation and you should always seek a licensed professional when it comes to electricity in your home.
