- Brush: Maggard - 24mm synthetic bulb
- Razor: BIC Sensitive
- Lather: Barrister and Mann - Lime
- Post Shave: Fine - Italian Citrus Aftershave splash
- Fragrance: Stirling - Arkadia EdT
Very good results with a mediocre-but-fine razor.
Iβve really been impressed by this brush. Itβs lower density than the other synths I have, but still lathers like a champ.

More water more soap!
I have started to pick up on more of the cedarwood and black pepper as I've used the soap more. It's really a great scent.

Fuck, the word REDACTED gives me such fomo...

I think it counts if you can frame a browser as an internet editor.

Pretty rough shave, I think I was just tired and not paying attention ATG.
Have a good one y'all.

Quick evening shave after a long flight. These razors kind of suck, but they get the job done well enough.

Thanks! So do I.
I actually picked it up off @[email protected] a while back. It was my first "nice" badger knot. :)

An excellent combo. Have a great Easter or 4/20 to those who celebrate.

- Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations "Stardust" - TurnNShave 26mm shoat
- Razor: GEM - Micromatic Clog-Pruf
- Blade: Personna - GEM PTFE (11)
- Lather: Barrister and Mann - Ubrique

- Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented Aftershave balm
- Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Ubrique EdP
Ubrique is good stuff.
Moarteen got here this morning. Surprisingly, it arrived before the strop that I ordered. Unfortunately, that means I won't try it out until next weekend since I'll be away this week for work.
Have a great Saturday!

Fun! I'm looking forward to getting mine, although it seems it will arrive while I'm on a work trip, so I'll need to wait another week to try it out.
How have you found the adjustment to SR technique compared to SE/DE razors?

- Brush: Omega - 10048 boar
- Razor: Eldrormr Industries - MM24
- Blade: Accuforge - GEM Microcoat (9)
- Lather: Mike's Natural Soaps - Vetiver
- Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Lavanille Aftershave splash
- Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented Aftershave balm

I am so glad today is Friday.

It's really nice, though I get more peppermint than anise.
Definitely recommend. Let me know if you'd like a smush.

Thursday, April 17, 2025: Theme Thursday
- Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations "Nebulagance" - TurnNShave Quartermoon 26mm synthetic
- Razor: Eldrormr Industries - MM24
- Blade: Accuforge - GEM Microcoat (8)
- Lather: Martin de Candre - Fougère
- Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Fougère Angelique Aftershave Splash
- Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented Aftershave balm
- Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Fougère Aromatique EdT
On theme with some ferny goodness. This sample of MdC Fougère was given to me by Mr. Frankie with only 4 fingers (along with lots of other goodies) when he sent me the half tub of Absinthe that we split.
It's a real pleasure to shave with, and the scent is balanced perfectly. I'm still impressed by how little soap I need to get a good lather from the MdC base. It's pretty wild.
Have a good one y'all, almost to the weekend.

Wednesday, April 16, 2025: BVWSC - Phantom of Kyiv
- Brush: Chisel & Hound "Spice Lily" - TurnNShave Tuxedo 26mm synthetic
- Razor: Eldrormr Industries - MM24
- Blade: Accuforge - GEM Microcoat (7)
- Lather: Areffa Soap - Phantom of Kyiv
- Post Shave: Noble Otter - Lonestar Aftershave splash
- Post Shave: Ginger's Garden - Unscented Aftershave balm (+ menthol)
- Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company - Leather EdT
We're shaving with Phantom of Kyiv for April's BVWSC courtesy of sahenders (thanks for the smush!).
A nice mild scent, I get hints of lemon, sage, and a bit of pine. It's difficult to pull out individual notes though since it's so well blended. The tallow base performed excellently and took as much water as I wanted to give it. My only complaint is that we didn't get to try the Areffa bear tallow base. :)
Lonestar into Leather was a perfect fit.
Have a good day y'all!

The sparkly green looks better than I expected. Very excited for mine to land!

Skipping June sounds good to me.

- Razor: Yates Precision Manufacturing - 921-M
- Blade: Bolzano - Superinox (4)

- Post Shave: Stirling - Haverford Aftershave splash
- Post Shave: Ginger's Garden - Unscented Aftershave balm (+ menthol)

MotI is really nice and worked well with the sweetness of Haverford. I was a little worried the spiciness would burn my face, but it was a super comfortable shave.

- Brush: Summer Break Soaps "Elyria" - TurnNShave v9 Tip 28mm badger
- Razor: GEM - Micromatic Flying Wing

- Post Shave: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber Aftershave splash
- Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented Aftershave balm
- Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Ubrique EdP
I get a good lather from the CF base as long as I remember to come in with a pretty dry brush. Otherwise, it tends to puff up on me pretty quickly.
A nice shave and another notch toward killing this tub of GTB. It's going to be a while yet.

Thank you!

Vintage Colgate Ad

I stumbled across this vintage Colgate shave stick ad and thought some here might also get a kick out of it.
βThe Conversion of Mr. Prejudiceβ

Some Recent Acquisitions
I had some exciting stuff arrive this morning and over the weekend!
First up, a nice Stirling haul:

This is the 31mm Zenith boar brush, the same that was used for the subreddit's prior "Moar Boar" group buy. The handle feels great in hand, and the knot seems just as nice as my other Zenith boar. My only complaint is that the Zenith and Stirling logos are pretty far off-level with the base of the handle. Not the end of the world, but it's unfortunate.
Christmas Eve in a bath soap is a great scent. I'm looking forward to trying it and Frankincense & Myrrh in shave soap format.
Deep Blue Sea aftershave is a re-stock. I love it with a bit of menthol.
The bonus was a sample of Haverford bath soap. I've previously used the shave soap/splash/frag, so this sample is most welcome. It's such a winning scent, especially for this time of year.
Next, some new hardware:

Show and Tell: Neovim SOTD Plugin
I had the day off today, so I hacked together a port of the SOTD emacs plugin that @[email protected] uses.
It's still a pretty rough implementation, but I wanted to share the repository here in case others who use Neovim might want to help me kick the tires. I'm fully aware that this is a niche within a niche, but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take!
I know there's some cleanup that needs to happen, and the config file format could use a bit more thought, but it works well enough for now. If anyone feels compelled to use it I'd welcome any feedback either here or on the repo itself.
The code is hosted on GitHub here.

Why is my bowl lather so lame?
I usually face lather and get consistently good results at this point.
However, when I get a .5 oz. or less sample I'll smush the soap down into a thin, even layer using one of those collapsible slow-feed pet bowls. Every time I get a foamy bullshit lather.
I'm unsure how to get an equally wet and slick lather with the bowl. Do I just need to keep adding water? Move to the face sooner? Give up and grow a beard?
