China is bad

  • isn't Fedora heading forward to become a garbage distro? saw something from Chris Titus about them closing source

  • well, that's great to hear. not often we get to see this sort of thing around nowadays

  • hot take(or maybe it's just more of a shitty personal opinion): but Bloodborne, and consecutively Elden Ring are both garbage fucking games. not only performance wise(which to put it mildly, is a disaster) but also narrative wise. elden ring has the most pathetic story telling experience till date. and is a moronic excuse for a third person adventure game

  • can we get some proof? this is really interesting. I'd like to see how they're tracking stuff

  • doesn't zorin charge you for features that others like Kubuntu hand out for free?

I don't think I'm ever going to install it on my machine

  • also tip: KDE connect can integrate stuff from your android phone into Windows/Linux like a fucking dream. it's been a while since I've used a cable when I have to transfer files between my phone and pc...

it's not just file sharing either. clipboard sharing, notification, media controls, remote input, slideshow cursor, you get the idea right... it's too useful. and it's crazy to me that there's no inbuilt solution from google yet

  • or if your device has a maintainer willing: EvolutionX. im surprised how painless of an experience this custom rom is. and it's got no bullshit stuff in it either. fucking crazy. they even got ota support... it's like oem rom experience, only, there's no third party spyware installed(excluding GApps. but even google's telemetry can be highly restricted when we install AFWall+ and use NextDns+Adaway along with it). it's been years(close to a decade actually) since I've used an oem rom on my personal phone, it's just that good

  • orbot can toggle the vpn network for any specific app you choose.

  • should also include mice, cause touchpads on Linux🤢🤮

  • for MAS to work, Powershell must run under wine so that it can find the Office installation

atleast, that's how I think it should be

Pirating Microsoft Office 2019 on Linux?

for some background, I'm on latest stable Kubuntu. able to use Microsoft Office via a KVM+Winapps setup currently. it mostly works but there are a few kinks like the display frame getting fucked up when going full screen or windowed, drag and drop being hit or miss and whatnot...

i did read up on Office 2019 being installable using Wine, but wasn't able to find any methods to activate it. MAS isn't really a thing on wine since we don't have Powershell I believe. any ideas?

Any launcher out there that has offline OCR support in recents menu, like the Pixel Launcher?

is there any launcher out there which has got offline OCR support in recents like the Pixel Launcher? Not talking about the Google lens implementation in recents menu here. I uninstalled the Google App from my phone using SD Maid. The custom rom I use(EvolutionX) does have launcher3 as its default(basically identical to Pixel launcher in every aspect, just without that Select/OCR in recents menu, and its got a bit more customisability since it’s open source), but being able to select images/text right from the recents menu without having to connect to the internet was something that I found to be a really powerful tool. miss having it handy whenever I needed it…

scrolling is kind of jittery, is it just me?

I'm on Android 13, May Security patch, AOSP. Rest of the apps work fine, no scrolling jitter whatsoever. Is there any way to fix it, or is it just a "me" problem :(

edit: my phone has a snapdragon 870, 8GiGs of ram and I got around 80GiGs of free storage left
