Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.
Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.

Jerboa @lemmy.ml getoffthedrugsdude @lemmy.ml App immediately closes when I hit the download button for images
Anyone else? Is there a fix? On Android.

Jerboa @lemmy.ml mapumbaa @lemmy.zip Something's fishy with the votes
Most listed posts show a score of 100 or 96. If I select a post the correct number is shown. I don't see this behavior in the web client. I'm on lemmy.zip. Jeroba version 0.0.77-gplay.

Jerboa @lemmy.ml MoLoPoLY @discuss.tchncs.de Bigger thumbnails?
I have searched the settings in the app, but didn't found such a setting. I want to have bigger thumbnails for posts with images and link previews. Is that available or if not can this be implemented? I have added a screenshot from "Thunder" with exact such bigger thumbnails. Can this be done?

Jerboa @lemmy.ml Teknevra @lemm.ee FEATURE SUGGESTION: āMigrate Subredditsā Tool for Jerboa Users, inspired by Voyager for Lemmy
I wanted to bring to your attention a feature from Voyager for Lemmy that could potentially be a valuable addition to Jerboa.
Voyager has a "Migrate Subreddits" tool designed SPECIFICALLY for Reddit users transitioning to Lemmy.
This tool streamlines the migration process by helping users easily find communities on Lemmy that are similar to the subreddits they've subscribed to on Reddit.
The process in Voyager is straightforward:
- Users log in to their Reddit account and access their subscription list via the "multireddit of your subscriptions" link available in the sidebar.
- They copy the link and paste it into Voyager, allowing the tool to automatically search for corresponding communities on Lemmy.
This feature SIGNIFICANTLY lowers the friction for users migrating to a new platform by minimizing the effort required to find and rebuild their communities.
Has Jerboa ever considered incorporating a similar "Migrate Communities" feature?
It could

Jerboa @lemmy.ml smontanaro @lemmy.world External links don't work
Links to external sites don't seem to be working. For example, looking at a Not the Onion post, tapping anywhere I'd think should take me to the referenced article just briefly highlights the post (it's clearly detected), but does nothing else. I'm running in an up-to-date Android 15 (Pixel 6) with an up-to-date Jerboa.

Jerboa @lemmy.ml JackbyDev @programming.dev Did Jerboa add some full screen option or have I done something in Android?
Sorry, this is a little embarrassing lol. But my notification bar with the clock and battery don't show in Jerboa any more. Is this some full screen option in the app I've accidentally turned on or something in Android itself I've enabled for this app?
Thanks!

Jerboa @lemmy.ml DeadNinja @lemmy.world Anyone knows when generic search will be implemented in Jerboa ?
Jerboa sorely lacks the absolute basic feature of searching for keywords in posts. It only supports searching for community names. I can't think of any other Lemmy app that does NOT support general search.
I came to know that there is an issue open in Github for over 3 years now, but no clue as to whether it is been worked on.
Totally respecting the personal times of the volunteer developers who are making Jerboa an awesome app - at the same time the lack of this basic feature stops me from calling Jerboa my favorite.

Jerboa @lemmy.ml Bad_Company_Daps @lemmy.ca Jerbora hiding android notification bar on top of screen
Anyone else having this issue? When scrolling on the app I can't see the clock or battery or notification icons and can't seem to find a setting to disable this

Jerboa @lemmy.ml srasmus @midwest.social Long load times?
Does anyone else deal with initial load times that take forever? Once it logs me in it seems to be a bit snappier, but half the time the request times out.
I figured the issue was with my instance, but I can access it via web browser with no hiccups. Usually a refresh or two fixes it so it isn't much of a problem, but I'm mainly posting as a sanity check I guess.

Jerboa @lemmy.ml abobla @lemm.ee Is there any planned date for the next release?
I noticed that the last release was in September 27th, which is almost 5 months ago.
Does anybody know if they're going to release a new version soon?

Jerboa @lemmy.ml TootSweet @lemmy.world Can I connect to an instance on my LAN?
I'm writing a Lemmy bot. (No spoilers. I'll publish it one day.) To test it, I'm running a local Lemmy instance (via Docker) on a computer on my LAN and pointing my bot at it. That method works great, mostly. I can use Lemmy-UI just fine on my computer. I can also connect to that computer from a browser on my Android phone via
http://192.168.1.199:1234/
. I can also connect to Lemmy directly from my browser on my Android phone viahttp://192.168.1.199:8536/
and get a JSON payload (rather than an HTML page) with some information about the instance. So I'm certain I can connect to both Lemmy and Lemmy-UI from elsewhere on my LAN.I also want to see exactly what posts made by my bot look like in Jerboa, but I haven't been able to figure out how to connect to it from Jerboa. On the "add account instance" interface, you can select an instance from the dropdown, but you can also type whatever you want into the dropdown field.
I've tried typing in:
192.168.1.199
- `192.168.1.199:123

Or is this not possible on Lemmy generally?

Is there a way to only show English posts when in All? I love our friends around the world but I can only read English right now
-
Jerboa @lemmy.ml RedstoneValley @sh.itjust.works Is it possible to filter posts by content in Jerboa?
I'm looking for a way to filter by text in Jerboa, for example hide every post if the title starts with "Trumpā
Don't know if I just can't find it or if it doesn't exist. If it's the latter, this would be a welcome addition.

Jerboa @lemmy.ml InFerNo @lemmy.ml Button to invert image colors
I would love to have a button on images in Jerboa that would completely invert the colors of an image. My retinas keep getting burned when I'm opening a post on my dark themed phone that is of a white image with text. It would be great to be able to view/read the image this way.
PS double tapping an image zooms it in waaaay too far. It should zoom to 100% size. My biggest pet peeve when trying to enlarge images.

Jerboa @lemmy.ml tritonium @midwest.social Default comment sorting?
Is there really no way to set a default comment sort order so you don't have to change it every time you go into a comment section? All the other apps have it... it makes Jerboa unusable for me.
-
Jerboa @lemmy.ml technomad @slrpnk.net hotlink bug?
Jerboa doesn't populate the image hotlink until you actually click on the post. I backchecked this with Voyager as well, just to be sure.
