  • The new rules also say you’re not allowed to report content for things that aren’t a violation of the terms of service. So if you report a content for being racist, that’s against the rules.

  • I can't see any history discussing the change before today, but the posts from before today also seem to be more inclusivity-minded than this one. Maybe it's just a huge oversight and they forgor. But it's definitely not a nice look. • It nearly happened, but then we protested and tanked the stock price to fuck Spez for fucking us. Now most of the subs are poorly moderated by mods that don't care about their community. Content is suffering and revenue is dropping. Spez pissed on his golden goose and we decided to speed the process up so he couldn't sell before it drowned.

  • That's because you're expected to socialise with other people whose faces your can't see in a high speed death defying environment.

Telling what everyone else is doing in their cars is a form of social perception.

  • I know. The head is supposed to move for that. But it's bad driving to move your head for mirrors, and the test requires that you do so because driving assessors are doing an impossible job otherwise.

  • Autism @lemmy.world

    Fuck driving tests

It is a requirement when you take a driving test that the assessor judge what you are looking at. That way, they can see if you're checking for hazards.

    This is impossible.

My attention does not move with my head. My retinas contain more light sensing rod cells at the periphery, which are better at detecting movement and hazards. People are better at sensing hazards at the edge of their field of view. It is impossible for an assessor to see a driver check for hazards at the edge of their view.

In order to pass a test, I must move my attention, my eyes, and my whole head when I look in the mirror or for other hazards. This is slow. I have autism. My attention already moves slowly. The added distraction of doing this is dangerous. I might as well be looking at my phone for all the trouble it causes me with paying attention.

Driving tests are fundamentally flawed and the job assessors are asked to do is impossible. You cannot see someone's attention move when they are driving optimal

  • I'm a computer scientist, and I will tell you right now that AI is biased. Here's how you train a neural network AI: you arrange a whole lot of neurons, you reinforce the connections between the neurons when it succeeds, and you weaken the connections when it fails. That's the same way your brain works. When you eat food or have sex or do something else beneficial to survival, your neural connections are strengthened. An ANN AI is driven by its training directive just like you're driven to eat or have sex. It develops the same biases.

And since AI is trained by humans and humans have critical thinking, I don't see why AI cannot develop one

This is nonsense. Humans invented the horse drawn wagon. Is a wagon ever going to develop critical thinking? No. AI isn't a child with boundless potential, it's a tool, just like a wagon. If humans want AI to have critical thinking, they're going to have to build it. And no human has ever succeeded at that yet. The AI that Reddit is using does not have it. And since the AI is a profitable tool in its current state, it will probably not be improved to the level of a human.

  • If your personality makes you sound like a bot, then you're exactly the kind of person I'm talking about when I say that AI is going to ban real people for being spambots. I think you sound like a bot, and so will AI. I am capable of critical thinking and looking past first impressions, an AI is not.

I think maybe you're under the impression that computers run on perfect logic. Machine learning systems actually run on pure instinct. You are more capable of logical reasoning than an ML program is. You're less capable than a traditional algorithmic program, but you're more capable than an AI.

Requesting c/twoXchromosomes as the mods are inactive

A month ago, I made a post asking that c/twoXchromosomes be removed from the instance due to known concerns with the name in regards to trans people, and the mods' stated intention not to compromise on the name. Since then, the community's mods have gone inactive. u/[email protected] has only two posts on the website, and the most recent one is 2 months ago. u/GreatWhiteBuffalo41 has not commented on the site in 22 days, and has not been active on c/twoXchromosomes for 2 months. There have been 4 posts to the community in the time since my post about the community name a month ago. The modlog shows no mod activity in 2 months.

I would like to appeal to the admins that I may take over the community, set it to restricted mode, and make the only post on the community a sticky explaining the problems with the name and redirecting to other feminist communities across the Fediverse.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was Christian propaganda

    Spoilers for GOTG 3 below:

Okay, so when Rocket was dying and he saw Lylla in the entrance to the afterlife, it got really weird for a second when Lylla referenced "The hands that guide the hands that create us". Now, the hands that created Rocket and Lylla are the hands of the High Evolutionary, and Lylla is telling Rocket to embrace an identity beyond him. That makes sense. But whose hands guide the Evolutionary's? God's?? That seems to be the implication, that somehow an otter is a christian. And I say christian instead of religious, because she is clearly referencing the idea of a grand plan that is not present in polytheistic religions, she's talking about god's plan. Or dare I say, she is asking Rocket to be part of "the greatest story ever told"

But it was just one odd sentence, so I let myself doubt this was intentional. Maybe the writers put that in there without thinking of the agenda-ness of it because it was just the terms in which they saw the world. Maybe it was an acci

    Enterprise is too gross

I watch TV while eating, because TV takes my mind off the textures of the food and helps me dissociate from eating. I also have a very active imagination and ability to immerse myself in a show

Enterprise seems to have characters beaten bloody, covered in soot, drenched in sweat or slime, or poisoned by trellium-D every other episode. It's very hard to watch Enterprise compared to the rest of Star Trek

I wake up and get dressed in one of the three outfits I own, which is locally crafted with enough quality to last a decade, and only washed when it needs to be
I have a breakfast of fruit from the trees outside and locally made bread
I pull out my phone, which is the only one I've ever owned and will last my whole life, and talk to my friends over a messaging app that works over a distributed network owned by the whole community
There's an alert that the hydro generator at the creek is broken, so I 3D print a part from open designs and go replace it. The old part is put in my plastic-composting bin, which uses genetically engineered bacteria to break down plastic
I hop on my bicycle and ride to the local train station. The tracks have moss between them and trees overhead. The trains are powered by a renewable power grid
I don't lock up my bike at the rack, because everyone already has a bicycle and there's no point in stealing them, they're free
    So is the train

SLRPNK.net has a community with a transphobic name. Can we remove it?

    slrpnk.net TwoXChromosomes - SLRPNK

About A place for serious and silly content intended for women’s perspectives. (We are not the same mods as the Reddit r/twoxchromosomes [https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoXChromosomes/] sub) Rules We are currently following a modified version of r/TwoXChromosomes rules here [https://slrpnk.net/comment/19...

    TwoXChromosomes - SLRPNK

/c/twochromosomes explains its name with the following:

The name XX was chosen just because it illustrates the essence of this subreddit and its target Redditors–girly and geeky, and subtly awesome.

Connecting girliness with a genotype and bragging about being cisgender is not my idea of what the solarpunk movement stands for. This is gender essentialism and subtle transphobia. And the beginning of the community and of SLRPNK is the perfect time to be getting rid of transphobic names.

Admins, if you are reading this, please remove this transphobic community.

Everyone else, do you know how I can get in touch with the SLRPNK admins?
