Mostly here to kill time. Big fan of open source game engine recreations/source ports, firmware modding, Linux, and gaming in general.

Isn't the issue largely with people retrofitting their vehicles with LED bulbs when they don't have the correct diffused cover?
Either way I'd rather deal with bright lights then getting murdered by the police for having a headlight out

How did it end again? I think the lead man and woman helped each other through a breakdown.
I remember reading afterwards that the creators did not want them to end up dating because they wanted to show men and women can work together without it turning into something more.

Some good jumping off points from this are open source game engine recreations that allow people to do things like play Doom on their phones and the various licenses that open source projects use like GPL, BSD, MIT, and 'Do What The Fuck You Want To Public License' and the differences between them and how companies have dealt with their restrictions
In regards to that last point here is an article about rsync and Apple
Is there a community for making friends? Maybe specifically one for finding people to play video games with?
I'm mostly looking for people to play games with on Steam. It would be nice to have someone to play co-op games with or even just know someone in a multiplayer lobby.
I only really have a couple friends and we haven't talked in months.
I'm wondering if there's a community out there for finding people to game with or more broadly making friends? I tried search some related buzz words but couldn't find anything

Do you have an example of apps designed for creating bootable media switching to a paid model?

Thanks for explaining. I didn't know it went unmaintained for a while. I thought programs like balenaEtcher and Rufus might have other issues I was unaware of like certain OSs not flashing correctly

Do Linux distros and BSDs recommend using the command line to set up bootable USBs because most machines should be able to do it without additional software?
That and verifying the checksum are the big reasons I can think of. I feel like for the most part though using something like balenaEtcher is so much easier.

A Harley Davidson line of merchandise targetted at people who don't own motorcycles that says "The only hog I'm riding is your mom".
I feel like this works on multiple fronts.
- It gives off big tough guy targeted shirt energy that's bound to give them a rush beyond what a white Monster can offer and will surely impress the waitress at Chili's.
Example of the targeted shirts I'm talking about:

- It hits people with the anger than immediately follows up with the confusion. "Shouldn't the mom be riding them?" "Is this implying my mom is into pegging?"
- Harley Davidson is the Supreme of middle aged dads and they'll buy whatever has their logo.

Thanks for the suggestion. That does really neat and I think I'll check it out.
The VCLauncher looks like it might be able to help the game run on modern operating systems so I think I'll see if that works.

How long ago was that?

What video game about the Vietnam war is your favorite?
I've played a fair amount of Rising Storm 2: Vietnam and had a fair amount of fun with it. I liked the jungle combat that added some stealth elements and weapons that were present.
To be clear I don't mean to sound insensitive. I know about the Vietnam war and how distasteful a hero shooters around it could be.

"Vehicle is protected by bees" stickers for theft protection
Maybe there could be a whole line of bee theft protection gear. Imagine a subwoofer that plays a low buzzing sound or fake hives for the passenger seat.

The Stickinator: A repurposed disinfecting gun full of Kool Aid with an Easy Bake Oven lightbulb

Need something uncomfortably sticky in a hurry? Try the stickinator.
The plan is to replace the disinfectant with Kool Aid and the UV light with an Easy Bake Oven bulb. With people being less cautious of COVID 19 these devices are probably getting cheaper and what modern consumer doesn't love brand crossovers?

Some people at work were kicking up toilet seat lids and angering the people doing work on the other side of the wall. It made me think about the Lunk Alarm but then I realised it would probably go off if someone took a loud shit.
I've attached a link to what the Lunk Alarm sounds like for those that don't know. It's pretty close to an air raid siren that's triggered by noise.

Didn't they produce a lot of content in the Vita modding scene?

I'm not surprised. TheFloW has done this before with PS4/5 exploits . A lot of players don't update their firmware in the hopes they'll be able to run something like HEN.

A Demon Core edition of the ball in a cup toy

I found the image on Reddit while looking for demon core memes but because of Reddit's VPN block I can't give proper credit.
Wikipedia pages for those that don't know:
Bonus Plainly Difficult video for those who want to learn more about the Demon Core incident. It's about 10 minutes long.

Grand Theft Auto IV gave players choice with actions instead of dialogue but I feel like the end result was similar to Cyberpunk.
Characters you decide not to kill will often help you for a bit but it doesn't drastically effect the story. You still hit a notable point of no return that only really comes into play at the very end.
Personally that feels more like an adventure game. I don't think Cyberpunk is very unique in what it did.

I feel like you could say that about most games though. I wouldn't say Cities Skylines is an RPG but you are fulfilling the role of a mayor. Chirper adds to the immersion aspect but I don't think that's enough to shift the genre.
Maybe it's a hot take though. Kind of similarly I wouldn't call F.E.A.R. a horror game. I'd say it's an FPS with horror elements.

How so? To mean it felt like Grand Theft Auto IV. You go around doing jobs for individuals and get thrown a handful of choices and possible romance options along the way but it still feels very linear.

Maybe it's because I associate roleplaying with the idea of player choice but I really don't think it added a ton to the RPG aspect. World depth? Sure but not by much.

Combine targeted ad shirts with the "I dont agree with Facebook's new update" copypasta

Both seem in vogue with boomers. So why not get the best of both and be the talk of the BBQ?
Maybe the text could be altered to include reference to wearing the shirt versus copying and pasting text.

You need to have sound on. She's getting cussed at for what she's doing

I think my next challenge run should be beating the PS3 without reloading. If the game crashes or I clip into a rock I need to start over.

Alternatives to I ♥ NY shirts

The I ♥ NY shirt is so incredibly popular you don't even need to travel to New York to get it and it's been ripped off around the world.
But what about people that don't ♥ New York?
It's an untapped market. The attached image is an early draft. What does it mean to tolerate New York? I don't know.
Another version could say I Am Indifferent Towards New York.

Gamer RGB piss jugs
What are gamers known for? Racism and urinating in bottles.
We take advantage of the untapped market of the latter and add RGB to milk jugs and charge 40x the price.

Pizza Fight: a pizza restaraunt where a majority of the toppings are on one slice of pizza
Why fight for the last slice of pizza when you can fight for the first?
Imagine one slice of pizza with 50% of the chicken. Could be a fun way to spice up office birthday parties.

Balls of udon noodles dyed pink to look like brains for Halloween
Could be the eggnog of Halloween

It's for work

Me too

No.

The man in the photo reminds me a bit of Brutal Moose.

Maybe it's just the facial hair. I feel like there's a video of him in a similar stance/outfit

Can someone tell me how to get the tool options window to stop floating in GIMP?

I know there's ways to reset the entire layout but I keep accidentally doing it. The attached images shows what I am talking about on the left.

How can I go about cracking the Android games that I own?
I own Stardew Valley but I am avoiding using the Google Play store when possible. While I could just sign into Aurora Store with my Google account I think I'd need to install Google Play Services so I am wondering if I could crack the game myself. I think in the past people used Lucky Patcher but I have tried it with other games that I own with no luck.
I've looked through the megathread and it seems like there are versions of Stardew Valley uploaded to Mobilism but a majority of them are modded for things like infinite stamina and money. The version without mods on Mobilism also appears to be re-uploaded from Apk Vision which isn't in the megathread.

If you could only play on one game console for the rest of your life which console would you choose?
Let's say the PC doesn't count and you aren't taking into account backwards compatibility, emulation, online play, homebrew games, and the cost/availability of games.
I feel like I'd want to choose the PS3. Like the Xbox 360 it had a decent lifespan and a lot of games were produced for it. A lot of which are already some of my favorites.
The only things that would make hesitant are I feel like a lot of modern games are larger and have open worlds which I feel like that could be nice in the long run and many of my favorite games for the PS3 have been re-released.

Timeshares but for dogs
Can't own a dog because home ownership has become a retirement goal in today's economy?
Get the experience by owning a dog (with several other people) and see it once a year.
Worth noting some animal shelters allow volunteers to walk dogs if you are into a less late stage capitalism version of this.

An Amazing Race themed airport
Flights can come and go as they please so everyone gets to experience the thrill of running through an airport.
There would be no departing/arriving flight screens. That spoils the surprise. Connecting flights only.

A home automation device triggered by sneezes that says "bless you and "gesundheit"
Kind of like a Google Home or Amazon Echo but instead of being triggered by something like "Hey Google" or "Alexa" it's triggered by sneezes. It's whole purpose would be to say things like "bless you" or whatever the regional response is to a sneeze
Of course it would have to be connected to the internet so that we can sell sneeze analytics to Amazon for targeted advertising.

What's the best way to play the Java edition of Minecraft on Android in 2024?
I believe I was previously using PojavLauncher, it came bundled with my Retroid Pocket 3+, but I could have sworn it was wrapped up in some kind of controversy.
I could easily be blending together memories of PojavLauncher and PolyMC but I thought it had something to do with people using pirated versions of the game with PojavLauncher.
Either way, is PojavLauncher still the way to go? I'm not a fan of the micro transactions Bedrock edition offers.
