  • That’s exactly why targeted direction of development in China is so powerful. They have alternatives to almost every US tech company, basically the only country with that kind of sovereignty on earth. Other countries should follow suit, and incentivize development of local alternatives. I’m from the US, but I can’t say I wouldn’t be glad to see people wean off US tech, it would be good for all of us.

  • That’s a big part of it too, but i think an even bigger part is the use of TikTok in counter culture. It is definitively the largest gathering of counter culture on the web. They fear losing control of the narrative. The intelligence agencies already control Meta and google. They have members on TikTok’s board. Social media is an avenue for consent manufacturing for our government, and any deviation from their manufactured line is unacceptable.

  • Series X is amazing hardware wise, but since they keep releasing games without physical copies, I haven’t turned mine on and likely won’t for some time. The console also doesn’t really work right without internet connection. As in, it is literally impossible to set up an Xbox without internet. It’s also literally impossible to install any games without internet, which is fucking bonkers.

    We have more than enough resources to feed everyone on earth. We have the land, we have the money to pay the farmers, we have the infrastructure to transport it anywhere in the world easily and quickly. The issue we’re having isn’t too many people, but a small group of people utilizing multiples of the energy they need, and dozens of multiples of the energy of the masses of the world.
