  • As always thanks for the post.

I buy and play games from all the storefronts so it's nice that you post a variety of stuff and not just default to Steam like everyone else seems to. I also don't follow the news closely anymore so the variety of topics you give is perfect too.

Regarding the website idea; Lemmy needs high quality posts so please keep doing what your doing :)

  • It is a great game but shame there is no multiplayer.

  • Slime Rancher would probably be a good introduction to fps controls.

  • Something like legally required to offer a no-DRM version on all storefronts would be interesting. I don't care about physical media much anymore but I do want to own what I buy.

  • It's stressful everyday but thankfully some less than others. I find myself feeling more and more nostalgic for my pre-tech/digital teen days.

  • I wasn't at all bothered before but this makes me want to watch it.

  • Not much time spent playing this week so just a few short sessions on Skate 3 when I have a spare 20 minutes. I normally just find some realistic spots and make some clips.

  • If only there was a simple solution to games being too expensive...

    (don't buy it)

  • I agree with the overall negativity Nintendo has brought upon themselves but videos like this are, like you say, tiresome and disingenuous from the creator.

  • This video has been doing the rounds but if I remember correctly they are overly negative and are obviously not the target for Nintendo and have no intention of buying the Switch even before all the controversy.

  • I don't really use Goodreads much but BookWyrm looks good so I've just switched over.

  • PowerA Xbox controllers are wired, cheap and actually very nice to use.

  • 1943 was pretty good. Brings back good memories of all the Xbox live arcade stuff on the 360.

  • I played a lot of 1942 on the NES as a kid but never 1943.

As for Battlefield I wouldn't bother anymore. The franchise peaked with BF3 and everything else since is just awful.

  • Apart from Eurogamer I basically get all of my information from random people on Lemmy and Mastodon who link to interesting stuff. I don't frequent any games sites anymore.

Edit: and podcasts but not specifically games related ones.

  • It's actually the only game I feel comfortable using comms in. I have social anxiety so it did take me a few months to get used to it but now it feels natural. I've rarely come across anything bad either in 2k hours which is nice and it's more social than competitive.

  • All the Apple original series I've watched have been excellent so far so here's to hoping for the best. The trailer was good enough in my opinion.

  • Nintendo aren't the monster they are being played as.

I do think the price is too high for the console, games etc but they have always been slow to the party in many ways. That also means they create amazing stuff that the others cannot and have forged their own path. Don't hate on them for that aspect.

  • Squad

I'd recommend it for anyone who played BF2/2142 and even BF3/BC2 back in the day. I really don't like modern shooters as they are quite frankly shit in comparison but Squad is something different. Be warned though that it has its issues but when you get a good round in with decent squad mates and teamwork it is top tier.

Currently there is only a single mod who doesn't show any activity for a long time now. I did message them months ago but no reply.

The new season has just begun so I thought now would be a good time to try myself.

How were the festivities for you all this year?

Personally my family and I have all taken turns this December to get ill and it was my turn on Christmas eve and beyond. Still feel a tiny bit rough today and it was a struggle on Christmas day/boxing day but it all turned out nicely and we seem to be getting over it now.

Kids were actually considerate with no drama to deal with which helped immensely :)

Still have a couple more days until everything needs to come down (tree etc) so I'm going to chill for a little while yet.

The Holdovers (2023), my favourite movie of 2023 and my recommendation for you all to watch over Christmas.

I remember I went in to this blind when it was released because of a radio appearances by Paul Giamatti and some fascinating stories he told. It is a lot more thoughtful than the "Christmas comedy" tag would suggest and is full of amazing characters.

I'd welcome any recommendations from the community too if you have any favourite festive movies.

Squad 44: The Pacific Front - Announcement Trailer

Are there any Squad 44 players out there? It was called Post Scriptum up until last year when new developers took over and started to revive the game. I believe a small mod team was given the task of updating/fixing the game and so far its been a stellar job.

This is the much anticipated Pacific Front update due late January/early February and with public testing starting soon.
