Domain Registry Investigates Spain’s Piracy Overblocking Damage

In recent months, piracy-related overblocking concerns in Italy and Spain have reached new highs.

Rightsholders successfully advocated for broader blocking measures. While these may indeed be more effective, they have also resulted in a noticeable increase in overblocking reports.

For example, Italy’s “Piracy Shield” blocked access to Google Drive, CDN providers, and other legitimate sites and services. Meanwhile in Spain, overblocking is now the de facto standard, as the result of continued disagreement between football rightsholder LaLiga and Cloudflare.

Tensions remain high. Major tech companies have chimed in with

If you’re looking for some solid evidence that Microsoft’s strategy to bring Xbox games to PS5 is seeing some early success, look no further than Sony’s own PlayStation Store today. The top preordered games in the US PlayStation Store are Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Forza Horizon 5, with the $99.99 premium versions of both games proving the most popular.

Resetera posters have noticed it’s the same story in the Canadian PlayStation Store and across a variety of European stores, including France, [Germany](https://store.playstation.com/de-de/c

Highway that consolidated Roman empire joins modernist Romanian sculptures as latest sites added to list

Italy’s Via Appia Antica, or Appian Way, the earliest and most important road built by the ancient Romans, has been named a Unesco world heritage site, making Italy the country with the world’s highest number of locations on the coveted list.

Known as the Regina Viarum, or Queen of Roads, it connected Rome with the port of Brindisi in the south and marked a revolution in the construction of roads.

The first section of highway was built in 312BC by the Roman statesman Appius Claudius Caecus and served as a strategic corridor for military purposes. Until then, the only roads outside ancient Rome were Etruscan and went towards Etruria, which was a region of central Italy.

Today, the first 17km (10 miles) of the cobblestone path remains and is preserved within the Appia Antica archaeological park in the south of Rome. [Popular with hi

Here’s how we can take sources and articles posted here and use them to pressure our respective governments to help Ukraine, in literally less than 1 minute (I timed myself doing this process):

  1. Copy the link of the source/article + this message (or any other message you’d like instead): “Ukraine needs more help than what we’re providing them. Russia is dangerous and needs to be stopped in Ukraine, not after. Please organize more aid”
  2. Send it to your local, state/provincial, or federal government through email. Here’s a list of sources that help you find your representatives, organized by country and based on where you live:

Italian police say that underpaid and exploited Chinese laborers working for an unauthorized subcontractor made handbags and accessories for the Giorgio Armani fashion house

Exploited Chinese workers employed in Italy by an unauthorized subcontractor made handbags and accessories for the Giorgio Armani fashion house in a series of supply chain abuses that the in-house production company failed to properly monitor, Italian police said Friday.

According to police, GA Operations hired a subcontractor, which in turn hired unauthorized Chinese subcontractors that employed workers under the table, some of whom were in Italy illegally. They allegedly disregarded health and safety regulations as well as rules governing working hours, breaks and days off.

Police said it was part of a system of caporalato, the illegal intermediation and exploitation of workers most often associated with the agricultural sector. Four Chinese factory owners face a se

‘Symbol of polarisation’: EU scraps plans to halve use of pesticides

The European Commission is shelving plans to cut pesticide use and is taking the pressure off agriculture in its latest emissions recommendations, as farmers around Europe continue protests demanding higher prices for their products and an easing of EU environment rules.

The original proposal to halve chemical pesticide use in the EU by the end of the decade – part of the EU’s green transition – “has become a symbol of polarisation”, said the commission president, Ursula von der Leyen. She added that she would ask the commission to withdraw the proposal.

Separately on Tuesday, the commission recommended that the EU slash net greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2040 but without the stipulation from previous drafts that farming would need to cut non-CO2 emissions by 30% from 2015 level

Meloni’s dangerous constitutional change in Italy

The Italian prime minister’s calculation isn’t hard to understand — her party has a comfortable lead in the polls, but it’s far from an overwhelming majority.

The optics are terrible: Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has made proposals for constitutional reform that are eerily reminiscent of another constitutional change made a century ago by Benito Mussolini.

Adopted in November 1923, Mussolini’s notorious Acerbo Law established that the party winning the largest share of the vote — even if only 25 percent — would get two-thirds of the seats in parliament. And after his party won the subsequent election — although intimidation and violence proved more important there than tampering with electoral law — the road to dictatorship was paved.

Meloni’s current proposal now echoes this Acerbo Law, as the Italian leader wants to automatically give th

Icons / Backgrounds Missing in Too Many Communities (for Kapow et al). Can We Get A Fix?!

@[email protected] -- I think it would be a good idea to begin stylizing a lot of the major country communities with icons (I propose just using the 'flag' icon) and background images.

For instance, I just made the Niger community, and previously made the Panama, Greece, and Malaysia communities, all faithfully with a flag and background image of an iconic site or scenic picture from the country.

Yet, there are some major communities like this that I use frequently that do not have any such icons or background images, like:

India Italy China Japan Russia [Ukraine](https://exploding-h
