BITCH I'M A BUS

www.instagram.com Bidit Roy on Instagram: "Thank you for 4M views. Here’s my take: 👇 1. This highlights one of India’s biggest enemies - systemic corruption, second only to terrorism. Despite paying crores in taxes for infrastructure, property, services, roads, and utilities, many Tier 1 cities, including Pune, are becoming unlivable. I love Pune, Maharashtra, and India - but witnessing this breaks my heart and enrages me. Accountability, planning, and transparency are essential if we truly want to rise in GDP and the Happiness Index. 2. No doubt EVs are the future, even though I personally prefer ICE vehicles. But before promoting them aggressively, fix the infrastructure for all road users. We’ve seen EVs perform well during floods across the world, but this is no way to arm-twist the public into buying EVs - especially after aggressively pushing SUVs. Now there’s a new sales pitch. People should switch by choice, not because of manufactured problems. 3. I have immense respect for the delivery partners I saw braving floodwaters- just to ensure their families could eat that day. While you and I could afford to wait it out, they don’t have that luxury - not with tight timelines and mounting pressure. It’s a tragedy that the administration and politicians have abandoned them. They deserve so much better. 4. Many small countries and cities - like Singapore, where it rains heavily - never flood. Send your teams to learn proper urban planning. And if you can’t, let us know - we’ll do it for you. 5. The financial losses due to standstill traffic, vehicle damage, and property loss flushes all progress down the drain - literally, into a water park. I truly hope the powers that be wake up and engage in serious, sustained work for the welfare of the taxpaying citizens - and all other earthlings of this country. Jai Hind. This happens every year like clockwork. Shitty road design, terrible maintenance, and rampant corruption ensure the roads get choked up to hell the second it rains.

All we can do is laugh mirthlessly and make jokes about it.

American grocery shopping.

Honestly, it just feels like a matter of time before we're gonna see tractor sized vehicles around in cities and people are still gonna say they NEED them for groceries. Yet when I actually visited America and we went grocery shopping with a pickup the size of my room back home, I got the experience of having shopping bags on my lap in the passage seat for the first time ever. Like where else you gonna put it? The trunk? The back seats??? Oh you jokester! There's like legit no space inside these things.

Car brains, citing vague "freedom of movement," often say that it should be OK to run over protesters on highways. In turn, it should be legal to set fire to cars parked in bike lanes.

Nuance? What Nuance?

Thought about comparing different modes of transport, but realized it would be way too subjective. For example, if 5 km are in biking range is dependent on biking infrastructure, available public transport, how in shape you are...

But then I realized I can just simplify all these things away to get the optimal transportation flowchart. Simple is always better, right?

WOKE transit vs PATRIOT transit

Me doing my part to portray car dependency as deeply unpatriotic. Which it kinda unironically is.

Guidlines for Posting

In the absence of a flair system on lemmy yet, let's try to make it easier to scan through posts by type in here by using tags:

  • [meta] for discussions/suggestions about this community itself
  • [article] for news articles
  • [blog] for any blog-style content
  • [video] for video resources
  • [academic] for academic studies and sources
  • [discussion] for text post questions, rants, and/or discussions
  • [meme] for memes
  • [image] for any non-meme images
  • [misc] for anything that doesn't fall cleanly into any of the other categories

I have copied that idea from another community. I forgot which one so sorry!

Feel free to discuss that here, I would like that change because it makes it a lot easier
