  • I'm 59 now, and a cancer survivor. Also a man.

I look back to the me in my twenties, and think what an ass I was. Not as a man, but as a human.

The positive aspect? I'm not that ass anymore, and my hope is in another ten years I'll see the current me as an ass.

Introspection and personal growth as a human. Sex or gender agnostic.

  • I think the Strata set was a Chinese set sold on Amazon. Not very popular, nor well liked.

You can find decent clubs on marketplace or offer up (which is where I bought all mine, ~400 for everything). For example, I have the TaylorMade R9 Supertri that was $40.

Older irons have more loft, but it's not such a big concern in the beginning, and you can add a wood or hybrid to get distances. I'd look for something that's clean, complete, and somewhat known (TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, Srixion, Mizuno, Maltby).

A putter is very personal, so go to a shop and try out different classes of putters (mallet, blade, etc), then buy a cheap one that's most comfortable.

Finally, don't worry so much about resale, as most clubs will lose value as the years move on and technology changes.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Same was said about calculators.

I don't disagree though. Calculators are pretty discrete and the functions well defined.

Assuming AI can be trusted to be accurate at some point, your will reduce cognitive load that can be utilized for even higher thinking.

  • Your reading of that rejection is spot on! It was immature and unprofessional. You might ask yourself if you wish to remain in such an environment.

To your question; Consider the duck... Imagine the droplets of water on it's back as troubles and difficult situations it's carrying. Then watch as the droplets slip right off.

These situations are not reflections of you, they're just situations in which you happen to be immersed.

  • Regarding Joplin: I don't know what you mean by callouts, but it does have a plug-in system. Perhaps there is one containing what you need?

If not, and it's not beyond your skill set, you could build it yourself.

Yes, Mr Trump heard I was restoring these clubs so he dropped by to see for himself. 😉

Explain shafts - is mojo involved?

Since starting golfing, I've become increasingly nerdy about hardware. This is typical for me.

I've recently learned how to reshaft carbon fiber and steel shafts, which has allowed me and son to try out the limited shafts we have here at home.

I've read that shafts can be an amazing magic that transforms your game, but also that that's a crock, and super expensive shafts don't have any magic in them.

What's your experience or expertise in this area?

    It's quiet in here

Son joined the high school team last year, so I started with him at the same time. I've been learning a lot. His coach is quite chill, and we play sometimes during the matches.

I wish this community were a bit noisier, 'cause that other place has more activity.

    Running Spellforce 2 Shadow Wars

I'm attempting to run Spellforce 2, Shadow Wars from the CD's, but running into some issues.

It installed nicely enough using lutris and wine. When I attempt to run the game, however, I get the following in t the log:

     undefined

wine: RLIMIT_NICE is <=20, unable to use setpriorty safely
Initial process has exited (return code: 0)
    All processes have quit

Not sure where to go from here. I notice it's available as part of a package of other Spellforce games from Steam, though not quite sure how they're pulling it off.

    Any pointer is useful.

    Thanks in advance.
