STOP destroying videogames
Sign here to support the EU's "STOP destroying videogames"
This initiative calls to require publishers that sell or license videogames to consumers in the European Union (or related features and assets sold for videogames they operate) to leave said videogames in a functional (playable) state.
Specifically, the initiative seeks to prevent the remote disabling of videogames by the publishers, before providing reasonable means to continue functioning of said videogames without the involvement from the side of the publisher.
The initiative does not seek to acquire ownership of said videogames, associated intellectual rights or monetization rights, neither does it expect the publisher to provide resources for the said videogame once they discontinue it while leaving it in a reasonably functional (playable) state.

Hogwarts Legacy got a new update that brought with it FSR 3 and XeSS 2 upscaling, as well as a bunch of mod fixes on Steam Deck.
Anyone else find themselves branching out on gaming since being on Linux ?
Another thing I've liked about linux. The community is amazing, and I find games I never would have heard of otherwise! What are some games you've found solely because of linux?
For me,
Luanti (voxelibre, mineclone)
Tuxcart
Horripilant
Tempopo is the latest release from Australian developer Witch Beam, the creators of Unpacking and Assault Android Cactus.
Windblown got some Steam Deck UI improvements with its massive Sanctuary update that released yesterday.
Of life and Land has been in Early Access for just over a year now, and it's about to cross over the finishing line as Metaroot and Kerzoven have announced the 1.0 launch for May 16th.
With the hashtag that is actually part of the name, #DRIVE Rally has properly launched out of Early Access with the 1.0 release now available. It arrives with Native Linux support and it's Steam Deck Verified.
EA App, GoG and Epic
I’ve got Steam pretty dialed and working great. EA App is also decent but not sure I like Lutris that much. Got Epic and GoG set up on Heroic, but other than a few modern ones, games from either don’t run that good. If I understand correctly this is cause they’re using Wine and not Proton.(?)
Would adding these games to Steam using the third party games function effectively make them use Proton like they’re steam games?(I find conflicting information regarding this) Or is there a way for Lutris and/or Heroic to just use Proton out of the box?
Running Nobara KDE.
Edit: Got Fomo, installing Fedora 42 right now. Testing out Bottles!
Building on top of the latest Fedora 42 release, Bazzite 42 is out now for this increasingly popular SteamOS-like option to put on your handhelds, desktops and more.
Pas Game Studio recently revealed the freaky looking Horripilant. A game that combines elements of an idler, puzzle and autobattler that sees you fight, mine, and think your way through the depths of a forsaken dungeon.
Now this blending of ideas looks damn cool. Moonsigil Atlas looks like it really warps deckbuilders into something quite unique, and I can't wait to check this one out.
Here's the new up to date list of games available on Amazon Prime Gaming for April 17th, and what compatibility you can expect for Linux / SteamOS and Steam Deck. An easy way to build up your gaming collection with these games coming as part of your Amazon Prime subscription.
Ready Or Not in Linux?
I've been eyeing on this game for a while after putting hunders of hours to Hunt: Showdown (in Windows). Have you played this game? Did you like? What was the experience like in Linux?
With Native Linux support and Steam Deck Verified, Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers is another good pick if you like something a bit different. The latest update also make it a lot easier to sit back and chill with.
Necesse is a wonderful mixture of base / village building, exploration, adventure and survival with support for solo and co-op play. They've teased the 1.0 update is due out this year, along with The Forgotten Depths update out now.
Audio through controller
Not new to Linux but just build a PC (Linux mint) so new to Linux gaming. How do I get a similar function to my PS5 so plugging headphones into the controller switches the audio? I play a lot at night and not trying to wake the fam. I have a Xbox one and PS4 controller for the PC.
Best way to play GOG games on Mint?
Hi everybody!
I’m using Linux Mint and I mostly play via Steam, but Metro Rexud 2033 was on giveaway in GOG so I would like to play that.
I have Wine installed but I ”locked” the version for a specific guitar app to work.
Which client etc would you suggest is the easiest for playing GOG games on Linux? I’m a noob and an idiot so please explain to me like i’m five years old.
Thanks for your help in advance!
Old games that needed patches on Windows
My journey into daily driving Linux is going rather well. Decided I’m gonna give myself a bit of a small challenge (or not, this might be easy).
I want to get a couple old games to work. I’ve had to do some tinkering or installed unofficial patches on these games probably since the Vista days. So I know they require some work to run on modern systems. But can’t find info on how to do it on Linux. I don’t want to do a «throw shit at the wall and see what sticks» and end up breaking something in my OS. I’m on Nobara KDE.
Installed in the EA App through Lutris:
Anyone wanna teach a Linux noob some tips and tricks to make this work? Or a way to install these .exe patch files and go the «windows» route? (Can this be done safely through Wine?)
