I wish the windows support guy on the phone will use the google play gift card for something fun, not for security update.
Not an IT, a friend onced told me their phone was getting hot and draining battery fast from last night. Naturally I asked if they installed any new apps or changed settings couple of times and the answer was clear no.
I checked the apps list and saw an obviously sus app (might be miner). I asked from when they had that app and they said 'why? I installed it last night'.
That was the kind of app you get clicking 'horny milves in your area' ads.
You say KDE hangs, but what component hangs actually? It it plasmashell (other apps work but panel is dead?)? Kwin (windows move/respond to input?)? KDE apps?
I would suggest you to install a distro with kde (fedora KDE edition or open SUSE, not neon) if you're not confident with administration. Use something like Kinoite for accidental breakage protection, or if you want to keep /home as is, install fedora 42 inplace (the new installer).
Not only my experience but also that of many KDE devs say that fedora KDE is probably the best mainline KDE experience (ignoring niche distros or customized KDE).
Also, don't use xorg session. Always log in to default wayland session unless you have incompatible usecase (in that case you know what you're doing).
That act is under Supreme Court of India. If it is found really unconstitutional it will be revoked.
The fact you said that government is using every tooling to express authority means that they're limited (hence time limited too) by Constitution. Constitution doesn't prevent inevitable fascism, it can delay it or makes it harder to operate (like cost for media propaganda is still a cost).
PS: If you're interested in politics of India (recent as well as old) and want to talk about, do dm me. I want to learn.
Of course constitution isn't final, for example if 70% of people one day say they reject the constitution.
Still while constitution is in force and separation of power exists, even government lead by hindutwa fundamentalists with popular support in a country where most if not almost all think religion is super important, can't dare go against constitution and change it to their liking (it needs 2/3 majority and still most fundamental aspects are immutable). Compare this to the mess the idiot US president is making. To do something similar the Indian government needs to make clever acts, to find loopholes and to abuse detective agencies.
The most dangerous thing going against the constitutional nature is UAPA which is a sedition act and is very much abused.
If you read about Indian constitution, this is extremely well designed. So even a fascist government is limited in what it can do.
- Seems bribery.
How can she be fertile if her ovaries are removed?
Any paid lobbying is bribery. Legislators should raise people's opinion who voted them in and act as representative, not say what others pay them to say.
I can't believe it is legal in so many countries. Apparently though it seems more problematic in the US but European countries aren't immune either.
Anybody got the ip of the mods? I can't find the sj post (deleted?). I wanna know distribution of mods by country.
Exactly. I currently have a notebook which is very well made. But it still sucks that I had to pay the windows license which is of no use : (
Windows is no easier to install (or even harder).
I've installed both recent windows and common distros many times by hand (where unattended wasn't trivial) and found everything except latest windows 11 quite similar (including arch) and very easy. Current windows 11 afaik needs registry hacks but I've not installed one yet.
What's it though? Is it the lv426 reference or I'm missing something?
Yes it is possible to create disposable-isque api keys for different uses. The monetary cost is the cost of privacy and of not having hardware to run things locally.
If you have reliable privacy friendly api vendor suggestions then do share. While I do not need such services now, it can a good future reference.
Nope, these services almost always require user login, eventually tied to cell number (ie non disposable) and associate user content and other data points with account. Nonetheless user prompts are always collected. How they're used is a good question.

Perfect market for gen AI is ad industry
While there are legit use of gen AI in various automation or more so in advanced text processing, apart from these in real world these are useless gimmick at best. Nobody wants to read AI novels (at least in current SOTA).
The perfect demand market for LLMs is ad business and marketing. Surely marketing strategists won't be replaced, but illustration, copy writing (for low interaction rate ads especially, like car ads. Very few people will buy the car with respect to how many see them), emotion analysis, marketing communication to consumers and spam botting; all will become much cheaper with gen AI.
Nowadays nobody with a thinking mind trusts ads, those are already filled with lies and deceptions. A hallucinating model won't be much of a trouble. Moreover less people will do mindless these mindless jobs and contribute to something more meaningful.
Fellow lemmings do you agree?

Is this a better solution for ad supported creators dilemma?
I do agree it is not a dilemma to everyone. Still many believe that blocking ads harms creators supported by them. It is true for google adsense based platforms like youtube (youtube premium requires account, hence privacy implication).
Instead any content anyone watches can be rewatched with ads enabled.
In case a platform trust not logged in views less (as it might be on youtube, I am not sure) the privacy risk can be mitigated by having a -big enough) network of logged in account to 'view' the contents ad enabled.
What do you think?

What's your thought on AI generated content?
First and foremost, this is not about AI/ML research, only about usage in generating content that you would potentially consume.
I personally won't mind automated content if/when that reach current human generated content quality. Some of them probably even achievable not in very distant future, such as narrating audiobook (though it is nowhere near human quality right now). Or partially automating music/graphics (using gen AI) which we kind of accepted now. We don't complain about low effort minimal or AI generated thumbnail or stock photo, we usually do not care about artistic value of these either. But I'm highly skeptical that something of creative or insightful nature could be produced anytime soon and we have already developed good filter of slops in our brain just by dwelling on the 'net.
So what do you guys think?
Edit: Originally I made this question thinking only about quality aspect, but many responses do consider the ethical side as well. Cool :).
