Yeah no not at all. SteamOS is full-fledged a Linux distro. That actually uses all the tools and software a normal Linux distro would use. It runs all the applications and binaries you would expect Linux to run.
Android is so completely different
Browsing and gaming. Discord and Spotify are always open and I've noticed almost every update they use another 30-40MB. Not much but discord literally went from using 150ish MB to 400-500MB on first start up. After a couple hours of being open it'll use up to 2GB of RAM. Software is getting worse and worse with memory management and games are getting ridiculous too
32GB of RAM with zram configured aggressively and I still get close at times to running out of ram. 2 more years and I'll probably need to upgrade to 128GB
I think it was like fedora 32 or 33 they started using btrfs as default. You're a lil behind.
I agree with it though I always have. Fedora has always integrated newer technologies into their distro, usually after opensuse still hahaha. But they were one of the first to default to Wayland and pipewire as well. If it wasn't for distros like fedora and opensuse adopting these as default then, Linux on the desktop would be 10 years behind now
I believe it is. Because it started by saying it's morally correct to pirate Nintendo products. I think shutting down fan projects is very anti-consumer and an abuse of their power. Which makes it morally correct to pirate their shit
This has happened to me when playing older games on Linux

Not true at all
Not at all anymore. Just please use your distros repositories.
I told my friend to just use the package manager but he was dead set on downloading the drivers from Nvidia's website and installing them manually. Then complained how hard it was.
Ahh but see. Nintendo has taken down many fan made games for just using their IP. No copyright violations
It does... With emulation... That you can scale up to look better than any of Nintendo's consoles can do... Plus mods, save states all the benefits of emulation...
Man if only Linux was open source and manufacturers could easily create drivers for it at any time...
Nvidia makes a shit card... Who could've guessed
I've been boycotting Microsoft for years. They've done so much in the past and people finally are doing it. I'm glad they are but this could have been avoided if everyone boycotted them earlier. Everyone that has bought an Xbox and gave them money aided them in genocide.
BDS?
My dirt bike
Still fuck Bethesda

Switch to Linux
Yeah let me know when I can install mainline Linux.
Definitely a step in the right direction, but the fact that android uses the Linux kernel but still manufacturers keep so much proprietary... It kills me

It makes me happy when I still see articles about this game

Should I say fuck it and buy a steam deck now? Before all the tariffs hit.
I kinda have the money. Not really. Well... I'd survive til next pay. But if I wait and it goes up in price then it's gonna be harder to get one.
got a second job. I start Monday
I'm excited for more money but can't help be a little nervous. I don't wanna burn myself out but I need the cash.
The new job is landscaping and when I was fresh out of highschool that's what I did and I loved it. But going to do that after a 16 hour shift from my current job sounds rough... I prolly just need to tough it out

OS rule

I left my computer at my friend's house and my laptop at my cousin's. Haven't touched that shit in days and life is good again

ran into some old friends randomly and they got bikes too! theirs are bigger...

I don't know why but it pissed me off so much that they called gimp "freeware"

Naturally, there are some big changes since 2018's version 2.10.

Startup formed by former Intel engineers and backed by AMD legendary chip designer wants to become the Arm of RISC-V

AheadComputing may operate under an IP licensing model, similar to Arm’s

I for one can't wait to be running a RISC-V system

Looking for a VPS. I don't know who to choose.
My main use currently is a modded Minecraft server. But I want a VPS over one of those Minecraft host specifically because I plan on messing around with docker containers later and hosting my own Lemmy instance. Currently I have an openVZ server from TNA hosting because it was like $50 a year. But it's not powerful enough for the Minecraft modpack.
So what VPS provider would you lot recommend?

I saw a post a while back showing PewDiePie using mint. now he installed arch

I got banned from 169 on Lemmy world but I have no idea what I did.
There's no removed comments. I looked through my profile cause like sometimes I just be saying shit so I was okay maybe. But I can't find any comments on that community. Just the old 196.
Idk if this is where to post this but I just wanted to rant. It's my first time ever being banned so it felt ouch.
very early practice to learn hiragana and katakana
Just wanted to share it because it's fast fun and easy and helpful for me at least.

bike was on it's side. now the radiator is making a new noise...
I was inside for a couple hours so I don't know when or how it fell. But when I came out it was on its side. It runs fine but when I'm at about 6000rpm the radiator is making a different noise then before. I'm new to this and paranoid somethings wrong.
Any advice appreciated, thanks in advance
Edit: the bike is a klx 300. Liquid cooled so I'm thinking maybe the coolant leaked out?

After Taking Over PlanetSide 2 Development Last Year, Toadman Will Close After Completing Contracts

Just bought a KLX 300!
It's snowing and I was excited and I already dropped the bike and broke the clutch lever. I really want to find the exact same clutch level. Is there somewhere I can buy original parts from?

What games have you sunk the most time into?

I was looking at my playtime for some games and realized I have over 450 hours in PlanetSide 2.
I've been wanting to find a new game to sink some hours into so I'm curious what Lemmy plays the most.

yeah I built my own PC. How could you tell?

My cable management is so bad I can't close my case but I don't care
fffuuuucccckkkkk
I'm tired of feeling guilty and anxious all the time. I can't eat, can't sleep, even taking a shit or a shower makes me feel anxious if someone is home. I just need to go on a run
Gnome crashes when gaming
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.sdf.org/post/24364561
Just as the title says. Any game I play except minecraft will eventually make gnome crash and send me back to the login manager. This happened on with my 1650 and on my RX 5500. I thought maybe something was wrong with my install so I reinstalled fedora on a new ssd and it's still happening. I'm not sure what to do but if someone is willing to guide me I'd like to make an actual bug report.
