theming broken?
Am I an idiot or is theming completely broken? I cannot set or modify any themes besides enabling/disabling the Material You theme.
I had created a custom theme prior to the 0.2.1 version and had been using it since then. I just went in to try to modify the theme and cannot save any changes. I modify specific colors and click the checkmark in the upper right and the changes are not saved, as when going back in to edit the theme, the colors are back to what they were prior to me trying to do the edits.
Also, I cannot change to any other theme besides material you. Where are you supposed to be able to actually select the theme for light, dark, and amoled? The only way I can figure out how you might change the theme is clicking the + beside the theme in the manage theme menu and clicking on set to X theme. This then doesn't do anything.
I enabled the material you theme and then clicked apply, and then under customization there is listed light theme, dark theme, and amoled theme w
I switched from ubuntu to debian when 12 was released and it's been fine. Only thing i was worried about was running WoW via lutris but had no issues.
So when my SO windows pc died we bought some newish parts and i installed debian on it as well. Also installed chrome since that's her browser of choice. She's still getting used to gnome, but all she needs is browser, WoW, and libreoffice, which is close enough that it hasnt been an issue. She doesn't even know how to update the system.
Your fridge may be made from some steel that is susceptible to rust, and the paint protects it. When iron rusts, the iron oxide product is that red stuff, which is not protective and flakes away, revealing more material that can then rust.
Stainless steel has chromium which oxidizes before the iron, but chromium oxide is strong and forms a protective barrier preventing additional material from oxidizing. Though certain environments, such as high temperature or moisture can cause the chromium oxide layer to fail.
Practically speaking, i'm not sure what the best fix would be. If you could prevent oxygen from getting to the bare metal, that should prevent further corrosion.
I teach my physics undergraduates the basics of latex for writing. They usually figure it out. It's basically like writing some code. The biggest pain are graphs. And like a lot of code these days, chatgpt can help a lot.
If you just need to write basic text formatted using apa, you could find or create a template and give it to your students. Then they won't even need to think about the formatting cause the template will deal with it all correctly.
Oh, i should add, in that screenshot, most of that code creates the fornatting. Once that is set, your actual content with words and paragraphs looks mostly like text.
Start with a minimal preamble and start testing it out.
Yeah somehow I had never even heard this band. I'm checking out all their other releases too!
How good is adventure mode?
So I've played a lot of Fortress mode, but have never really explored adventure mode much. With the current new release, I'm thinking of giving it a shot, but I was curious about what everyone's experience is with adventure mode. How good is it? Can it lead to crazy/epic stories like in Fortress mode, or is it mostly just eat, drink, kill monsters, and get loot?
I never read any crazy stories from adventure mode, and I'm not super interested if it is still a simple kill and loot type of game. I'm also currently playing Cataclysm DDA, which does a great job of scratching my rogue-like itch.
I'm a college professor. I'm very aware of textbook prices. Most students don't read the textbook anyway, even if its something you want them to read everyday.
For intro classes, I use openstax, which are available free online. For upper-level classes, I try to pick non major publishers, ie not pearson or cengage, with much more reasonably priced books.
My version of this meme would be the prof begging the students to actually read the book he/she picked out that is free or cheap so that they are prepared for class and the students rolling their eyes and instead just going to chatgpt or chegg...
Hmm. I would consider both of those statements good advice for beginners. Many people bench with the bar too far up the chest with elbows flared out and don't go low enough. Touching the nipples is an easy reference for positioning and full range of motion. I've also seen people deadlift with crazy neck bends as they try to look up when bending forward for deadlift start.
I won't be able to explain any better than all the youtubers but i think what helped me was concentrating on the hip hinge for the second half of motion. Completely push with your legs until bar passes your knees than also drive butt forward.
You could also take a video of yourself doing a rep and try to judge your form.
Also supplement with romanian deadlifts for hamstrings. I do them slightly elevated so I can go really low and really work the hamstrings.
100% agree. They look like starburst.
Super old show called scrapheap challenge or junkyard wars, which depends on whether it's the british or american version. I loved this show as a kid.
If you haven't played in a bit, the old wiki kinda died, but this exists, if you aren't already familiar:
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Cataclysm
which is incredibly useful for crafting and figuring out where to search for specific things.
New game in stable H
I hadn't played DDA in a bit and was itching to give it another go. Downloaded the latest stable version and created a new character. They got rid of any point limits for character creation and thus I made a bit of an overpowered character. For world gen, I dialed zombie evolution up to (down to) 20, as I really like the base-building, crafting, and survival aspects more than the zombie combat. Might have all been a bit too much though, as I can mow through the regular zombies with my barbed-wire bat. Oh well, I'm having fun anyway.
I'm currently on the look out for an anvil, or the appropriate stuff to craft one. I've lucked out and have found a lot of useful tools already.
I'm also debating moving my base to be near the river. I had some really good luck with fish traps in my last game in G, though I think I eventually completely depopulated the small pond I was fishing. Hoping that won't be as much of an issue next to a large body of water. I do think they changed the vis
I still have my 4a. It still runs fine. I keep looking at upgrading but don't want a bigger phone or to lose my 3mm jack.
I assume you mean grip strength instead of arm strength. I go overhand grip for my first two sets at 135 and 225, but then use switch grip on my higher sets. It allows me to not use wrist wraps. Try out switch grip and see how much you can do. Deadlifts will increase your grip strength.
My deadlift day goes: 10 reps at 135, 10 reps at 225, 1 or 2 less than max effort at 315 (usually around 5), 1 rep at 405, and 1 rep at 405 + some change to try to go for max or more. I sometimes fail the last rep. The first two sets I try to really concentrate on my form.
Should we put bets on how long until chatgpt responds to anything with:
Great question, before i give you a response, let me show you this great video for a new product you'll definitely want to check out!
I hate saying it but I don't think a woman can win. There's too many patriarchial fucks in this country that might vote democrat, but not for a woman.
I don't think it's too much. I don't really consider deadlifts that much of a leg and instead a back exercise. I also go 1 rep max on deadlifts, where my 2nd to last set is nearly max and last rep is max.
I'd recommend doing romanian deadlifts instead of leg curls or leg press. I added them in the past year and really feel them. I do them elevated so i can really get low with barbell.
Don't browsers allow you to do form fillable these days? I swear i just filled one with firefox the other day. Maybe that's too limited?
For combining pdfs, pdftk from the command line is my goto. The command line interface for it isn't too complicated.
Linux mint or fedora are great options. I'd probably recommend mint as usually geared more to those switching from windows and the forums and communities might be more helpful for beginners.
I'd avoid ubuntu these days. While not horrendous, i've run into enough annoyances with their snap package manager that there's just no reason to learn this additional thing for a beginner.
I remember reading an interview with mikael and how he loved Camel. So i went and listened to some Camel. He did a very good job making Opeth sound like Camel. Its not my thing and thus i haven't really been into Opeth for a while.
New album is okay in my opinion.
I zoomed in looking for tex code. Was disappointed.
Catwalk for neighbor's cat
So our neighbor's cat has been visiting us for a while, so I decided to build this ramp so that she could more easily get into and out of our yard. I'm not much of a woodworker, but was happy with how this turned out.
It's made almost entirely from cedar fence posts. Nearly 18 feet long (3 fence posts end to end with the dog ear tip cut off). Ripped cedar planks into 3 for a frame/support to prevent flexing. Posts are pine 2x4, and go 18 inches into the ground, which was the majority of the effort, since our ground is like cement...
TIL: Auto Detect graphics setting fails to detect graphics card
Upon logging in yesterday, my fps was complete garbage. Spent several hours trying different wine/proton versions. Eventually after some internet searching, it seems that WoW's in game graphics setting for Auto Detect graphics card wasn't actually using my graphics card. Changed this to my graphics card instead of auto-detect, and fixed immediately...
not sure exactly what changed. I think I had it on auto-detect forever with no issues, though I'm not certain, as I've never even really looked at that option in the graphics settings.
I run linux, so maybe its a wine/dxvk specific issue.
Welding rods.
Holy cow building a car from scratch takes a lot of this stuff. This is the first game i've ever tried to build a car. I'm scrounging every house for light disposable batteries to craft the rods. Fortunately most houses have at least one in a flashlight. Is there another good reliable source for welding rods or wire?
Gnome Files - how to change default terminal for "open in terminal"
How does one change the terminal that Gnome Files uses when opening a directory in terminal using "Open in Terminal"? I'm trying to change the default to foot.
All my searching has led to
sudo update-alternatives --config x-terminal-emulator

Bash script to move focused container to new empty workspace
So I migrated from i3 to sway. Had a python script that I found on the internets that did this, and really like the functionality. Figured I'd give an attempt at making my own script in bash. My programming skills and bash scripting aren't great, so I had chatGPT help me with some syntax. Thought others might be interested so am sharing here.
