  • To me, it suffered the same issue that all reboots have (Jurassic World, Rise of Skywalkwer, etc.). They don’t attempt a new plot and instead try to rehash the original plot but “bigger”, this makes it boring really quick as you know what’s going on, so instead they rely on nostalgia bait or jump tactics to try to keep you engaged.

  • So the slower the cooling, the less stress damags, but I’m sure there’s a curve where something like air cooling would damage it in a different way? I wonder what the best rate of cooling and medium is to facilitate it.

  • Sucks that he died, but got me thinking. How is the Pope any different from a Dictator? He’s literally one person at the top who has the authority to decide how an entire group of people should think and act and believes he has divine authority to do so?

  • Guys learned to steer clear of me real quick when they’d spout off nonsense like that to be part of the “club” and I’d go off on them. Did it make me many friends at work? No. Did I care? No.

    Traveling internationally (question)

So I’ll be traveling in such a way that I’ll be crossing the US border. I want to take a burner phone so I can wipe it, or have innocuous enough data. The problem: all my passwords are stored in a password manager that uses 2FA tied to my primary phone which will be sitting at home (along with other sites that use 2FA tied to authenticators on my phone).

So remembering passwords is out. And not having access to 2FA presents a catch-22. So what’s the best way to approach that?

If you could keep your body at a certain physical age...

What age would you choose? Mentally you still keep growing and you keep your normal life span. Also, what age are you currently?

How much natural light do you like in your home?

I’ve seen some friends that keep their places like caves; all curtains and blinds closed with maybe some lights on. Some even going so far as to put up foil and completely blocking out light. I like having blinds and curtains open with maybe just a sheer curtain to diffuse the light but I enjoy it being bright. So how do you like your space lit with natural light?

With the talk about bird flu affecting egg prices...

Has it also been affecting the price of chicken? I know that egg prices were a sticking point from the election so there’s a focus on that, but if it’s an avian flu that’s affecting chickens, would that also cause the price of any chicken product to go up? I feel like I haven’t heard anything around meat prices going up.

This world is turning out less like the movie Idiocracy and more like the series Continuum.

In the series, corporations get a bailout when things get bad, collude to make it worse with profits over people and then basically buy off world governments in a reverse bail out to take control of the system. With a “Corporate Congress” and all people having a “life debt”.

Oh, and the time travel aspect of it is pretty cool too.

If you can’t discriminate based on age, how are there 55+ neighborhoods?

I’ve seen neighborhoods that advertise as “active adult living” and are 55+ only. Given that age is a protected class, how can that do that? How is that not the same as an “active white living” community that bans other races?

If time travel were to exist, which theory would you subscribe to?

    Some ideas are:

    • You branch off into another timeline and your actions make no difference to the previous timeline
    • You’ve already taken said actions but just didn’t know about it so nothing changes
    • Actions taken can have an effect (so you could suddenly erase yourself if you killed your parents)
    • Only “nexus” or fixed events really matter, the timeline will sort itself out for minor changes
    • something else entirely

    People who have transitioned...

Did you try to erase all existence of your past? Or do you own it as if it were just another chapter of your life? Or something else entirely?

Did the concept of 9-5 included a 30 minute lunch and two 15 minute breaks?

You always hear the phase “9 to 5” and also the song with the same name. Assuming you include 1 hour worth of breaks (30 minute lunch and two 15 minute breaks), you’re only working for 7 hours a day which comes up to 35 hours a week.

Now it feels like you have to work 8 hours a day (for a total of 40 hours of actual work), plus your other time off meaning you’re really there for 9 hours each day (for a total of 45 hours). Am i looking at that wrong, or did expected times change, and if so, when?

Anyone having trouble with Zotify and the like?

I know that recently Spotify requires a credentials.json file and not just a user name and password. I can’t seem to find a method though that works in creating that file. I’ve tried librespot and librespot-auth, both of which should expose themselves as a speaker on my network for Spotify to cast too but it doesn’t show up. I’ve tried them both in a WSL instance and compiled directly for Windows with no luck.

Is there another way I’m missing to generate those credentials? I have a valid account, so I know there’s not an issue there.

(Religious) What would i be labeled?

I’m curious if there’s a name to the belief I have. I wouldn’t exactly call it atheist, though i generally lean that way, but I wouldn’t call it non-theist. The thing is, I just plain don’t care if God exists or not. They could, or they couldn’t, it really has no bearing on how I live my life. For that reason along I think I go in the atheist camp, but I always thought that was used to describe people who don’t think he exists.

What causes a CFL to suddenly start working again?

I have a CFL in the bathroom that went out on me. I’ve been too lazy to change it because there are other bulbs that are working. Well after a couple weeks, it magically decided to turn back on. It’s nowhere that it would be jostled or anything, so I found that weird.

Prank calls don't really exist anymore with caller ID and everyone sending unknown numbers to voicemail.

I was listening to a Weird Al song about prank calls and realized you can’t really do them anymore now. Also it was funny that he mentioned dialing 7 digit numbers instead of 10

I don't like sleeping in dark rooms

I don’t like to sleep in near pitch black rooms. It just feels unnatural to me. It may be more the fact that it prevents the gradual transition to daylight unless you’re using an artificial light, so that bothers me more because you don’t know when morning is. But even when traveling I love to keep the curtains open through the night and sleep to whatever the natural light level is around me even if it’s in the middle of a city.

    Hidden Photos available via USB

Well this is interesting. I plugged my phone into my computer to pull some photos off of it and I just happen to start browsing it via Windows Explorer since the device shows up there. Imagine my surprise when I saw things that were in my Hidden folder show up clear as day. It seems that lock is only at an application level and just browsing the file system it’s there to see.

Does anyone else experience something similar? Is there a note I missed that it’s still be available via other means?
