Oh nuts

How did you learn English? Do you get taught it in school?

The Invincible TV series is quite gory. Blood gets censored to be white in China which makes for some interesting scenes of hands dripping with white stuff. Or this:

At least in philosophy the two terms are interchangeable. Moral philosophy deals with all sorts of ethical theories, not just divine command theory (God's commands decide what's moral and what isn't)

It was unexpected. Didnt know the eunuch had the balls to pull off an assasination attempt honestly.

I dont think so. I think theyre just trying to be accurate about whats its like to be the sort of person that gets very into their interests.

Hi you havent replied to the comments people made, youve replied to your post. People wont get a notification that you replied.

Can you maybe explain that last sentence?

Assembly isnt a single language though. I could write assembly for riscv or a recent arm ISA and that would be quite new.
I wondered if maybe "assembly" gets used to mean x86 but apparently thats a bunch newer than COBOL so I dont think Im being pedantic :)

Nice idea, thanks to the admins for coming up with this and putting their money to fund it.
I guess we're likely to see a fair number of comments trying to award silver.
Can we have a "!repeatAward" or similar command? Reply to a "!lemmySilver" comment with it and you can award for the same comment or post. IMO that would reduce clutter because you can then just collapse the first award command and get on with reading actual comments. Maybe even delete all "!lemmySilver" commands after the first one, and DM people letting them know they should use the "!repeatAward" command.

Or Newpipe for Android which you simply install.

Protonmail has a free plan though.

Cool 😎

Here come the gaslighters 🤦♂️

Legitimately nice fit.
Not sure I get the bag though, to be honest.

Are we sure its a true scotsman?

Lemmy supports proxying images though. I read the release notes for the feature and its supposed to work on all image urls:
The setting works by rewriting links in new posts, comments and other places when they are inserted in the database. source

Comments better than the post

Singularity rule

Political compass memes seem to generally be weird and used by weird people but this ones about a fictional world post-"singularity" and has worldbuilding I absolutely adore. Give it a read!

Questions about the insides of this optocoupler (TLP250)

I haven't really been able to find much on this. I recognize the totem-pole and what that's for. Would love help understanding:
- What's the triangle?
- What's the rectangle immediately after?
- Why are there two outputs instead of one? A lecture I watched claimed this is common.

A 10 min survey on Mastodon usage by a masters student working on ways to make Mastodon more active.
I'm not said student, found this /r/Mastodon. Sharing here since I think it would be good supporting research on this. Shortened description from the info page:
This project is part of a Master Thesis that aims to explore the factors that influence user activity on Mastodon and their role in sustaining decentralized networks. ... Ultimately, this research seeks to contribute to the future development of decentralized social networks by identifying key factors that support user activity, offering valuable insights for administrators and moderators in maintaining active and sustainable communities.
EDIT: survey seems to have ended
