Walmart CEO Doug McMillon says customers are exhibiting ‘stressed behaviors’—and it’s already tanked the company’s valuation by $22 billion

“Stressed behaviors” is a term applied to lab rats when you manipulate their environment in negative ways. Feel like this was a little bit of a mask slip…

Sorry folks

  • I tore my shoulder years ago and it took only 5+ years of suffering and loss of sleep to finally do something about it. Today I can play golf, go to the gym, and finally sleep without agonizing pain. Good luck to you!

  • I remember back in the mid 2000s with my flip phone a T9 texting. Could text and drive without looking away from the road because of muscle memory. Once I got a touch screen I realized that wasn't the case anymore. So imagine this anecdote with car buttons to touch screens.

  • Found this from last week's post. Gave it a listen, some interesting bits that made me go out and research on. Good stuff to keep the ear to the ground for new technologies I can adapt to my lab.

Would love to see a segment carved out on user setups and their thought process. Help me with more ideas to bring to mine.

  • For all intent and purposes. 4.0 has been by far the most stable release yet. And that is saying something since the player cap is 500 and now has a new star system.

The new Pyro soundtrack is amazing and if you haven't listen to Pedro's work I would recommend to do so.

There are some dumb bugs that qa and the ptu should have found and smashed but they (cig) dragged their feet with 3.24 and server meshing this year IMO.

New oven and they lock the air fryer functionality behind wifi.

CAFE by GE for those who are wondering.

We are renovating our house including all new appliances. I have told my partner to make sure we get non smart appliances. This is why.

Yes I can setup a VLAN for it to be on but that's not the point.

  • I never really got into Twitter format. Been more of a fan of long form discussion that can bring more insight. Mastodon and bluesky just fill that void, although has replaced twitter for me.

Sec Camera -> PoE Switch -> L3 Switch -> NVR?

Is it possible to have about 4 PoE cameras attached to a PoE switch in a network closet which will be trunked to a L3 switch where the NVR will be also attached too?

Or would it be better practice to home the NVR in the network closet to supply the power natively.

US Pedestrian deaths rose a troubling 77% between 2010 and 2021.

GHSA previously issued a report finding that 3,434 pedestrians were killed on U.S. roadways in the first half of 2022, based on preliminary data reported by State Highway Safety Offices. A second report analyzing state-reported data for all of 2022 found that roadways continue to be incredibly deadly for pedestrians. There were 2.37 pedestrian deaths per billion vehicle miles traveled (VMT) in 2022, up yet again and continuing a troubling trend of elevated rates that began in 2020.

The report also includes an analysis of 2021 data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System to provide additional context on when, where and how drivers strike and kill people on foot. This analysis uncovered a shocking safety disparity for people walking: Pedestrian deaths rose a troubling 77% between 2010 and 2021, compared to a 25% rise in all other traffic fatalities. The data analysis was conducted by Elizabeth Petraglia, Ph.D., of research firm West

Unions are the strongest in decades. Nearly a million Americans got double-digit raises as a result

Nearly 900,000 Americans sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner this week will have unions – and the double-digit pay increases they won – to thank.

That’s how many unionized workers have won immediate pay hikes of 10% or more in just the last year, according to an analysis by CNN.
