  • @ArcaneSlime @Ulrich (Blue light scattering in everything is why the sky is blue)Also, the worst part imho (thankfully less common) is the use of random LED drop-ins in old housings absolutely not made for their light source shape, position or brightness, scattering light in every direction, without even throwing light farther than stock halogen bulbs.

  • @ArcaneSlime @Ulrich They are not pointed directly at your eyes, it would be much worse. But they are significantly brighter than previous headlight technologies, and often have smaller reflectors, or lenses, resulting in a smaller (and even brighter) apparent light source. This concentrated apparent source of light more easily causes glare on windshields, glasses or simply our eyes transparents parts. It is awful and very poor design. Not mentionning blue/cold light scatters MUCH more anyway.

  • @D45 @flashlight I always carry my 3000 k brass TS10 in my pants pocket. I almost always carry my backpack with me and there are three more light coming with it : one 519A 4500 k DD (so more 3500 k) modded MT21C on the strap, one spare silver TS10 4000 k clipped at the top of the main compartment to light the inside, and one MAO 4000 k HD10 for FOH work in theatres.

  • @Schlemmy @Lurkinney Isn't there an option to disable the voltage flashing? I recall something like that.

  • @flashlight for those asking why I'm not on the pictures, working with the others, I was going back and forth from the stage with equipment, because the stage and backstage are 1,10m above the floor, and van, with no elevator or stairs nearby :D

3000 K BraTS10 and 4500 K DD MT21C lighting up the inside of a van while loading up the theater set and equipment.

  • @cobysev @GraniteM I have a french version from 1942 and modded it with a pretty low power, 2700~3000 K single LED drop-in, and more importantly a 18650 battery with integrated USB charging. I built a cheap 2D-18650 adapter by hollowing a piece of wood from the bottom and putting a flat-cut screw through the top to make contact. My grandpa use it and is happy with it. Way more runtime, bit more light, same temp.

  • @Curious_Canid I read somewhere that the last digit is the shape : 0 for cylindrical

  • @mp3 my little sister (21) just now: "I want that!"Thanks, I now have an excuse to buy them :D(And 519A-mod them before gifting them)

  • @mp3 how did you know I wear Crocs

  • flashlight @lemmy.world

I'm officially the flashlight guy of the family, according to this present 😭

  • @flashlight Left to right: TS10 3000 K, MT21C 6500 K DC-fixed, MT21C 519A 4500 K DD DC-fixed, TS10 4000 K.If you click on the fedi logo you can see more pics.Also dec 8 in Lyon, FR, is a historical festivity all about illuminations.

Je suis prêt pour le 8 décembre.

  • @bpcomp I think a LEP defeats this purpose.

  • @SammysHP So it's one color at once only? No ramping? Only two brightness settings for each channel, + strobe? Still a cool light!

Today I swapped the awful and greenish factory Cree XP-L HD V6 6500K of a Nitecore MT21C for a Nichia 519A 4500K (MCPCB swap). I may try to install a floodier TIR optic. Click the fedi logo for more!

  • flashlight @lemmy.world

Two vise clamps and lots of brute force, I finally disassembled the head of a MT21C, which is a great light with shitty emitter and beam. What emitter should I swap for ? 3.45mm square, 2.79 Vf typica

  • flashlight @lemmy.world

3000k TS10 to the rescue! Nobody planned any lighting for the sculpture ( by @Syl) at the entrance of the festival. It is fixed for a few hours. [@flashlight](https://lemmy.worl

Comparing the 3D beam shapes (and not a side projection on a wall) of the 1 LED + SMO Nitecore MT21C vs the 3 LED + TIR optics of Wurkkos TS10s (4000 K and 3000 K). Using soapy water in a white tub. [

(https://lemmy.world/c/flashlight) I may have overheated my brass TS10. The battery wrap shrank.
