Are there available mods for playing DOOM 2016 and/or DOOM Eternal over the network without licenses? I have no problem creating a VPN to connect everyone. However, as far as I can tell there is no native support for local multiplayer, or even splitscreen.

Now that Denuvo is no longer included, I would be fine with buying one license for either game if it makes things easier by a significant margin. As far as I can tell though, each user would need a license, which is infeasible.

As a secondary concern, how do the two games' multiplayer features compare? I understand DOOM 2016 was better reviewed at the time, but is it worth the older other mechanics? I find DOOM Eternal's singleplayer campaign to be quite good.
