  • Meanwhile the fastest charger in my city is ~50kW and is often out of order, so you have to go even slower because most others are 25kW... And it's not better anywhere near, half hour drive gets me to no better chargers. This lack of infrastructre where I live is one of the reasons I still don't have bev (also price).

  • The description of Ghost I've read online: "Ghost is modern day Kiss of rock/metal music" and I think it's true. It's more money generator than band.

  • Nice try, but still bunch of losers compared to MS...

  • Half of it because random disconnect happened in the middle and download did not resume.

  • I'm too old to learn vim escape game. I'm glad I can do :q :-D

  • I have to live with Windows at work so that's where I use Notpad++. I'm fine with Kate at home.

  • Just from top of my head and from what I have to use at work:

    • Dolphin vs. Explorer - Dolphin is sooo much better and useful it's not evwn funny
    • Notepad++ vs. Notepad - day and night, even though Notepad got an overhaul in W11 it's still piece of shit compared to Notepad++
    • literally any foss player vs. what MS offers - be it VLC, SMPlayer, MPV, anything is better than windows built in crap
    • ImageGlass, Nomacs, Gwenview, etc. vs. MS Photos - same as above, windows picture viewer is now worse than ever while open source alternatives get better and better
    • and plenty others, like Linux vs. Windows, lol
  • I was looking at simple 2 bay home NAS and Synology was - quite logically - one of the contenders. Now I'm glad I ordered differently. Went with Asustor AS5402, which might be not as polished package as a Synology option, but they're very open about it and say it's just regular PC so you can instal e.g. TrueNAS if you want. This openness convinced me.

  • Given how dumb current GOP is I'd say it's gonna be terrorist children.

  • Everyone is different and that's how it's supposed to be. Glad you like it.

  • I like oats. Had them for breakfast today. But them mixed into "milk" is just not my thing.

  • Yes, for me it is.

  • Not OP, but... I've had it once. And it will probably stay at that number to end of my days. Oat milk is just gross for me, felt wrong at all possible levels.

  • Hmmm, badass Mozart t-shirt sounds like a thing...

  • When I was young it used to be like 15-20 a year, most of those local, some of those with my band. Nowadays, it's more like years apart between my visits anywhere. Not only there are way, way less happening in general (at least where I live), but family, other hobbies and keeping things quiet after busy work week has higher priority for me.

  • Sure, but that's like.. idk, 5? Maybe 7 years at max?! Right?! RIGHT?!?!

  • No way it's 15 years!

  • How 'bout tits? (o)(o)

    Looking for specific app

I don't know how to exactly describe what I'm after so I'll explain my intent. I'd like to record (write up) my dreams from the night as a first thing in the morning, every day. I'd want it to be recorded with date stamp and easily searchable. Something like calendar and or diary/journal combined. I can't figure out what I should be looking for. Simple calendar might do, but I'd have to start new event every morning and fill all the unneeded cells...

    Gamepad for linux

Hello lemmings, I'd like to buy some sort of gamepad I can use on my PC (running opensuse tumbleweed linux).

Since my youth I'm a die hard keyboard & mouse player, but since I'd like to try co-op with my wife I'd need second device. What is currently considered a good buy? Should be good in terms of price/quality ratio. I don't want to spend a lot on a thing with questionable future, might as well end up being ultimate dust collector. On the other hand I don't want to buy ultra cheap POS that would have terrible build and insta drifting joypads.

Wireless is a plus, but should have its own USB receiver (box PC without bluetooth).

Last thing: I'm based in EU, so should be available there.

    Thank you very much!

    Synology/QNAP/Asustor

Hello, not sure how on-topic is this, but I'll ask anyway. Since I'm wrapping my head around this topic for long time to no avail.

I'm planning to buy NAS mostly to store my music, pictures and documents on my place. At the beginning I'd like to keep it simple so I don't plan to install billion things on it. I would definitely want to install adblocker like PiHole/AdGuard. I'm also eye-ing Tailscale for remote access (no public IP) and Jellyfin/Emby for music streaming at home. So apart from usual NFS/SMB file shares, let's say there are these three apps I'd like it to run at the beginning.

The NAS has to be as quiet as possible, so even thought it's more expensive, I'll have to go with SSD drives. Looking at prices two 2 TB (in mirror RAID) should be doable and should be enough space for me, at least for now. I'm no hoarder.

    I have few other "must-haves":

    1. decently working companion app that automatically backups pictures from at least 2 android phones (my wife needs to deal wit

Wireless mouse with silent switches recommendation

Hello, not sure whether this is right place to ask, but I'll ask anyway. I'm looking for mouse replacement, but I do need the mouse to be quieter than your usual "click click clik", as I often use it in the evening in a room with other people sleeping. Usage is about 50:50 office and single player gaming, so I don't need the best sensor tracking or the fanciest RGB (I nor need nor want that at all), I just want well working, silent mouse.

I hold my mouse mostly in claw/fingertip grip, so I can't operate something big, Deathadder-like. Ambidextrous shape is fine (maybe even preferred), as long as it has 2 thumb buttons on the left side. I used to have Logitech G305 which was almost perfect, except for 2 things: 1) very loud clicks and 2) mouse wheel got nasty swollen over time to the point it stopped rolling at all.

I'm using something people describe as "PWNAGE symm 2 clone" from local store brand, that is exactly what I need (smaller shape, silent), but its sensor is somehow sta

Is Disco Elysium playable in short bursts?

Hello, I just finished the game I was playing (Book of Demons, would give it 7/10) and I'm looking what to play next.

I don't have as much time for gaming as I used to (job, children, etc.) so I usually have about an hour at the evening to play. Some games are tough to fit into this because it breaks immersion too much and everyday having to remember when I left just to quit soon after is just... tedious? Wrong? Idk and I don't want to spoil good games with it.

My friend gifted me Disco Elysium for christmas and it looks ver promising. But is it possible to squeeze it into this schedule? Or does it break the game too much? Thank you for your input.

Dumb Q: How to manage sw licences?

Hello everyone, I hope I came to the right place to ask my stupid question. I'm currently working in a company that stuck way way back in time. I'm talking some people are still working in DOS level back in time. There is some revamping of this in progres, but it's going to be a long run.

The "IT department" (called computing department, lol) consist basically of 2 people, boss and me. Boss loves the old days, he's "happily" using Win XP on his computer and hates everything newer than Win7, although half of everything he tries to do doesn't work there anymore (and don't even start with security of the OS). Anyway... that's about the company background and what to expect.

During currently ongoing upgrades to get this company at least to 21st cwntury, there will be some sw licencing happening. I'm expecting like buying dozens of Office 2021 keys and some other standalone soft too. But there's problem with managing those keys, as there is no precedence, no rules and everything's goin

Browsing the web I came across this (meta) search engine. From the first glance, it seems promising and giving quite a good results to my searches. Definitely better than Google, Bing or DDG, which tend to be full of SEO/ads/AI bullshit these days. Does anyone use it?

It somehow implies it's open source and indeed there is github https://github.com/PresearchOfficial too, but I can't find any link from the presearch.com itself to it. It's just... IDK, weird?

Does portable bluetooth speaker with USB input exist?

I'd like something like JBL Charge, but with USB port that I can connect to PC and speaker would act like external audio device. I've only found ones with USB-A to insert pen-drive, which is not the same.

I use headphones exclusively at my PC, but there are times when I'd like to show something to my wife and since I have only one pair of headphones it's no sound for either me or her. Audio quality is not crucial, so I thought I'd buy bluetooth speaker (which I can use everywhere with my phone) and connect it with one USB cable and it's done. It would charge when I'm out and I could use it whenever I needed. Well, it seems this idea was wrong since every single one I've checked has USB port only for charging. Are there any of these that act as USB audio device?

Does thing like this even exist? If so I'm probably too stupid to pick right keywords to search engine. Thank you everyone!

Clueless guy looking for family car (EU)

I'm in Europe, looking for family car and have no idea what to look for, as cars are far from my thing.

I'll start with a bit of info. We don't drive that much, most often just short rides in town (like groceries, kids to school, etc.) or short drives to nearby towns (10-15km). Longer distances about once a month (50+ km). Slughtly bigger car is a preference as we usually have stuff to carry in boot. Currently we have old Ford Mondeo turnier from 2003 and due to its engine problems it needs to be replaced. I have around 15k € budget, so will be looking at used market cars.

Because of intended use I scratched out all diesel offerings. Right? Leaving me with either gasoline or hybrid options. Full EV are probably no go due to price. I've picked a few possible cars from local/nearby sellers and would really appreciate your input on them (or alternatives I should be looking at).

    underrated band: Ranges

I don't know if it's only me, but I really like what this band do. And I rarely see them mentioned anywhere. When someone mentions post-rock, it's usually bands like Sigur Ros, God is an astronaut, Mogwai, Mono... Ranges? Barely ever, at least in my social circles. So here you go, try and listen. Maybe you'll like them as I do.
