  • Doesn’t look bad per-se, but he definitely doesn’t look like the Jim Carrey everyone pictures in their head anymore. In fact I would 100% not be able to tell you who the person in that second picture is.

I wonder how much this gimps his iconic ability to crazily distort his face.

  • They make ones now with an internal battery that lasts 10 years. No more chirping and swapping 9V batteries.

  • Years ago I went to one of those Halloween haunted house-type things where you walk from room to room and have people in scary costumes scare you. Each room was separated by some plastic flaps hanging in the doorway. For the finale, you end up getting chased by one of the actors with a chainsaw.

As we were running away, I began to feel bad that the actor was getting smacked with the flaps closing behind us, so I started to hold them open. I think I probably confused the actor a little bit. This post reminded me of that experience.

  • TIL OP just learned this

  • My biggest gripe with it that makes it unusable as a serious replacement is that it purposely only stores conversation history for two weeks.

As for the heaviness you mentioned, it technically can be ran inside a browser but I agree a separate lightweight app would be more appealing.

  • I was shocked to learn that Steam group chats can be turned into pseudo-discord servers.

It’s obviously not a viable replacement for 99.999% of people but I thought it was wild it’s there today, hidden away. I wager most people had no idea (like me.)

  • This wouldn’t be a problem if we didn’t have unrealistic beauty standards for pdf files

  • If you dig around, there was actually a leak of the evidence the FBI is currently holding. Here it is:

  • I would do unspeakable things for those brussel sprouts

  • I do the same thing, sort of. I think about where I will put the item and if I don’t have a good place for it, then I won’t buy it.

  • This is misleading. Discord is not reversing course. It was in their original announcement that they would try to automatically determine everyone’s age and “most” people won’t need to do any sort of verification. A lot of people and journalists didn’t read that far apparently.

  • You say Mac or windows unless you have a death wish to be their eternal tech support

  • He might have had other problems too, I don’t really remember. I just know he was talking about using Graphene for months leading up to him finally getting it and then soon after having issues. And circumstances came up that caused him to unexpectedly be between jobs so rather than stick with a finicky phone that could hamper his employment search he went back to his iPhone. I don’t know all the details, but that’s roughly what happened.

  • He was between jobs and could not afford his phone to be unreliable at the time. The RCS issues were messing with all of his group chats, family communications, and more. For him in his situation, it was not minor.

  • My friend tried using it last year and he started getting some super annoying RCS issues that caused him to switch back to iPhone. He was very invested in using graphene but it became too much.

  • In the US we have warnings on the pumps to leave your cell phone in your car, as they could somehow create a spark and ignite the fumes. Is that the case in the Netherlands?

  • Same in AZ. I looked at times for a few of my local theaters expecting a laugh only to see most showings pretty full. It’s only the later ~8pm stuff with tons of seats open.
