I was looking at Iran on google earth earlier, and the mountain setup looks like it was designed to make it a fortress, it’s all overlapping horizontal mountains line 10-20 layers deep, would be nightmarish to try and push through, and you would have to basically travel sideways back and forth, unless you can somehow move your equipment over the tops of mountains.

Edit: I see someone explained below—they have an aerospace subsidiary
