  • B-B-But I thought all cops are white supremacists who defend Trump supporters. That's what Ressitors and Lemmings told me, and we all know that all Redditors are high-IQ intellectuals.

  • Do you have any plans to add support for showing when a Lemmy or Kbin instance has defederated from Mastodon, Pleroma, Peertube, Soapbox, Misskey, etc. instances? That seems to be the only flaw when tracking Lemmy deferations.

Another day, another defederation due to inactive admins

    lemmy.world Defederated from Feddit.nl - Lemmy.world

Lately we have been dealing with a few abusive members from Feddit.nl [http://Feddit.nl] and we were unable to get in touch with the instance administrator. Part of the problem is the instance’s open registrations which do not require you to enter an e-mail address during signup. This in combination...

  • Ideally, they should have released the security research directly rather than this weird… translation + hyperventilating attention-seeking style that they did here.

They technically somewhat did on GitHub but this isn't saying much

Don't download any APKs or Zip files from their repo unless you know what you're doing.

Mass migration incoming? LW users voice their displeasue against their lemmy instance blocking piracy communities

    lemmy.world Removal of piracy communities - Lemmy.world

Earlier, after review, we blocked and removed several communities that were providing assistance to access copyrighted/pirated material, which is currently not allowed per Rule #1 of our Code of Conduct. The communities that were removed due to this decision were: - !piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com [/c/pira...

    Highlights:

Admins are also banning everyone for saying they're leaving

What surprises me is that people think making a community specifically for illegal activity isn’t a problem, and that they should only be called on their behaviour when a copyright holder notices them. There are plenty of places to go for piracy online, so what’s the need to add a community for it here? Or are you people claiming a piracy community wasn’t primarily intended for piracy?

Time to host my own instance. I disagree with this move.

The people whining are not the people that could face multimillion-dollar lawsuits over the issue. Like it or not, media companies are powerful and will go after websites seen as promoting piracy. Do what you reasonably have to do.
