Wonderful second shave with the Moarteen. This Jnat edge is gentle, yet efficient. A perfect match for this "14" geometry.

Amazing first shave with the Moarteen razor; especially because this was my first attempt with an edge that I created with a Japanese natural stone that I have not used before. I would be completely fine if this is the most I get out of this type of stone.
The razor itself is wonderful. I already own a Koraat 14-2.0, that has the same shape as this one, so it felt very comfortable and familiar.

I agree with @[email protected]. That’s quick! I think that most of us find that a straight razor shave provides the most comfort. This is because you have complete control over angle and pressure. It takes a while to get the hang of this, but you are well on your way!

Thank you! Honing is done. Shaving is upcoming.

Apparently, you can shave with it too ;-)

This is the one I used today.

I haven't used Boat Drinks in quite a while. That's a very smooth refreshing scent!

As you should. I’ve enjoyed how much more sensitive a straight razor shave is to the combination of technique, edge quality, steel quality, lather slickness, and razor geometry. That was a great edge for me, but there are a lot of unknowns about that razor.

I strop all the razors I hone. You can shave with them right away. If the edge felt good at first, then felt more rough as the shave progressed, then the edge must have dulled during the shave. I used that razor a number of times and did not have that problem, but that doesn't mean much; different beards, different technique, etc.

If you have a 10K, you could get away with just a 4K or 5K stone and skip an 8K.

My splash-o'-the-day today was an attempt at willing "green-in-green" into existence.

Woah! Lots of harmonic convergence going on there!

This was a Buena Vista Wetshaving Social Club shave, and our soap today was Phantom of Kyiv by Areffa. Here are the scent notes:
Type of aroma: woody
Initial note: hazelnut, lemon, orange, lime
Heart note: cedar, clove, rose, lily of the valley
Final note: oak, pine, patchouli, eucalyptus
This is a very nice scent. The scent strength in the soap is mild, but I found that fine. I would agree with the description as woody. Overall, I get a dried cedar vibe from it, with the citrus notes adding a refreshing quality. I thought that 1889 for the splash, and Jicky for the fragrance, complemented well.
I found the lather to be excellent. It is beef tallow based with some oils added, and is completely luxurious. Low structure, and high density. Takes hydration beautifully.
So, yeah. Great shave today!
Thanks so much to @[email protected] for providing the smush. Your collection is terrific!

I used Ulrik’s edges on my razors for a long while before changing them. On my 14, I went a year with it. The steel has great edge retention. I found Ulrik’s edge pretty easy to adapt to but I’ve seen (what I consider to be unwarranted) complaints about it online. I’m going to hone my Moarteen when it arrives, though not because I don’t like his edge. His steel has very high Rockwell hardness which causes it to be different (some say difficult) to sharpen. But, the steel is also very fine-grained and with a little patience, takes an amazing edge. One that easily melts through whiskers 😀. I want to demonstrate how well this steel can take an edge.
Looking forward to using Phantom Kyiv later today.

Yup, I already watched the fundamentals video
My latest honing video is a tutorial. It was done for the razor’s owner, but there might be something of interest for you.

It’s a well made razor with good steel and good balance. Helluva razor for $12 😁

Headless Honing - Razor Sharpening for Friodom Riders, Honemeisterschaft, and Headless Horsemen
This offer is for those who want to take on one, or more, of the straight razor challenges for Austere August. If you are hesitant to participate because your straight isn't shaving well, and you don't want to hone it yourself, or, if you just want someone else to hone your razor, I'll be happy to do it for you -- for free. (But, I don't charge sub.wetshaving.social members anyway.) And, I'll even cover some, or all of your return postage.
This offer is for razor honing only. I don't do razor restoration or repair other than for myself. I'm certain that there is time between now and August for a package to make a round-trip through the US Postal Service in CONUS. If you live elsewhere, just PM me and we can discuss it.

I should add that you can have your choice of finish: synthetic, coticule, Black Arkansas, Black Shadow (a French slate), or Japanese Natural stone. For stainless razors, because
