  • Only things we can glean from that article is that some people think it was a squirrel that fell from a since-removed tree and other than that, no one knows the circumstances, so I think we can still draw the same conclusion!

Living things move, dead things don't, in the main.

  • How do you figure, dropped by a bird maybe? There's no obvious disturbance around it, so it's a fairly sure bet the frog was dead when it ended up there.

  • Guess it ended up in the cement mix somehow, died, got embedded in the path as it was laid, and then picked out after the path had set?

  • In place of a Dark Lord, you would have a hen! Not dark, but round and orange as the dawn sun! Loud as the sea! Scratching and pecking even to the foundations of the earth! All shall love me, and despair!

  • So they likely used a cloned font (XBAND Rough, a copy of FF Confidential) as well as having used the music without permission from the author or any royalty payment.

Next we'll find out the car and the handbag in the PSA were actually stolen for use in the clip.

  • Nah, that's a conference venue. You're thinking of the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center & Fairgrounds in Oaks, Pennsylvania.

  • I remember the "made without computers, samplers[...]" note on their first record. Using technophobia and reactionary lies (the record was actually produce with excessive use of digital effects, the artwork mostly plagiarized and digitally layouted etc)

The liner notes read "no samples, keyboards, or synthesizers used in the making of this record". They used pedals and live feedback for distortion and effects, but did not use samples, keyboards, or synthesizers. At the time, as you'll know, synths were either embraced as an evolution of music production or derided as an erosion of real musical skill; RATM were in the former camp and their claim – as far as I know – was genuine. It doesn't matter where you stand or stood on the debate, it wasn't misleading or false. Your outrage is manufactured.

  • Likewise, I avoid Reddit as much as I can; I found the AMA with a web search.

Sad for sure, but the person running the AMA is comically tone-deaf and unprepared.

  • Great post.

Here's the Dreadmoor AMA on r/pcgaming on Reddit. It's a disaster.

  • The sort of end user that gets common sense stuff wrong is not the sort of end user that would ever have read the documentation anyway 🤷

  • On Saturday April 19th he met with Pietro Parolin. This was framed as a snub. On Sunday 20th he met with Francis.

  • Michel Vaujour had 28 years to serve for attempted murder and armed robbery; this was his fourth escape attempt. He made his way to the roof by threatening guards with a fake pistol and nectarines painted as grenades. On top of the jail he was picked up by his wife Nadine, who had taken helicopter pilot lessons especially for the escape. They landed at a nearby football pitch and fled in a waiting car.

The couple’s hideout was right back in Paris. Bold or foolish, they stayed in the city where they had just staged a daring escape. Three months later, they were caught not opening a charming coffee shop but robbing a bank—again. In the shootout that followed, Michel took a bullet to the head but survived. He was soon back in prison, his sixth escape attempt with a new accomplice, Jamila, ending in failure.

TIL baking and brewing yeasts produce alcohol to kill off competing microorganisms

The Crabtree effect is where Saccharomyces and Brettanomyces yeasts digest carbohydrates both anaerobically – producing ethanol, an antiseptic – and aerobically. Most yeasts in the presence of both sugar and oxygen prefer to only convert these to carbon dioxide and water, which is considerably more efficient but doesn't deter competitors for that sweet, sweet sugar.

RIP space guars, we hardly knew ye.

Thanks for playing along with our April Fool's Day prank. We are, in fact, not pivoting to the Starfield engine.

We are, however, back on the very latest version of the Skyrim engine, thanks to some gruelling work by our Coding team, and of the Creation Kit, thanks in part to the CKPE team 💌

Now back to your regularly scheduled project updates. There's also more of the Concept-to-Asset video series on the horizon, and a bigger progress video is being worked on as we speak. Onwards and upwards! 🚀

After years of pouring love and dedication to recreating Morrowind in Skyrim's engine, we're reaching for the moon: we're shifting to Starfield's engine.

    Say hello to Starwind! 🚀

    • Why walk when you can fly? Rocket boosted guars!
    • That's no moon(s)! Assemble your own interstellar silt strider.
    • The space race, now with 100% more cliff racers

Tamriel's vibrant and variant landscapes have been our home for years, a realm where our passion could roam as free as the nix hounds of Vvardenfell. ⁤⁤But as we looked up at the stars above, we saw the potential for magic far beyond what Skyrim's engine could offer. ⁤⁤Starfield's cutting-edge tech and vast cosmic canvas present us with the opportunity to reimagine Morrowind like never before.

We're grateful for your support, and we look forward to continuing on this journey with you, to the cosmos and beyond.

A vestige of prestige: the Dwemer ruin of Nchuleft, by Dominik Włodarczyk

This ancient Dwemer freehold straddles the border of the Grazelands and the Ashlands, and served historically as an important neutral ground for diplomatic talks. Its remaining inhabitants are not so eager for polite conversation.

We’ve taken a deep dive into game asset creation with the first Skywind Concept-to-Asset episode! This time, we’re looking at the Iron Armor.

CONFESSION TIME: we have an ulterior motive with this new series. It's not very evil, though. We love showing off what we've made, the attention we pay to detail, and our determination to make Skywind really goddamn good, BUT...

WE NEED 3D CLOTHING ARTISTS. It's a major bottleneck for us at the moment, and has been for some time. If you've got experience in modelling 3D clothing and soft materials, or if you know someone else who fits the bill, we'd be really keen to hear from them. Tell everyone you know 💚

To ring in the New Year, we held a Twitch stream that looked back at our progress in 2023. What was your favorite new Skywind development?

And a teaser for 2024: we were also busy last year working on a mini video series to showcase specific Skywind items, from the very first concepts and ideas right through to the final in-game asset. More on that very soon!

You can help! If you know a 3D artist who might want to help with future models for Skywind - especially clothing artists - please send them our way. We’d love to hear from them: https://discord.gg/skywind

Isn’t it past your bedtime, House Cousin? Presenting the Hlaalu Canton Bunkhouse by Dominik Włodarczyk, Level Design

One of the last remaining interiors in the Hlaalu Canton of Vivec City, the Bunkhouse! With NPCs having daily routines in Skywind, they all need places to sleep, thus the need arises for new interiors, such as inn rooms, private quarters, and bunkhouses. Located in the docks and connected to the waistworks, the bunkhouse grants its inhabitants easy access to all of Hlaalu Canton!
