The problem with Rockstar games since GTA IV is the weird disconnect between cramming their games full of mechanics but making them completely pointless to engage in. They're basically just there for role-playing purposes

Rockstar games are not typical open world slop, focusing more on story and immersion. There's a world of difference between Sasso Creedo #5042389 and Red Dead Redemption 2

I've looked at my bike from every angle and unfortunately there's no good places to stash the lock without it moving about or being in the way

Didn't that thing give you eye damage

"Looking ahead, we continue to focus on offering more ways to play more games across any screen and ensuring value for Xbox players."
cloud-based subscription bullshit

Seems a bunch of local libraries have 3D printers you can book for a tiny fee

I wonder if cheap velcro straps like this could work? You can get a bunch of them for almost nothing but I'm not sure how tight you can pull them or how much weight they'll hold

I can't believe China's let me down with this. The only u-lock related products on AE I can find aside from actual locks are generic u-lock mounts which would be fine and dandy if the mounting bits on the lock hadn't snapped off.
These sorts of holsters seem to cost almost as much as I paid for the lock itself when delivered from online bicycle shops. They look like they'd do the job though

That looks to be exactly what I'd need but I don't have 3D printer lying around

I also truly appreciate your offer but given the demographics of hexbear chances are you are in the US and sending something over to Europe would be too annoying and costly for you.

Any DIY U-lock mount ideas?
A while back, my u-lock's plastic mount broke while I was riding my bike, sending the lock straight into the pavement. The impact broke off the hard plastic/rubber bit on the lock itself that slots into the mount so I can't even get a cheap replacement mount from China.
For over a year I've hooked the lock onto one of the shoulder straps on my backpack but I noticed the added weight and stress of a heavy piece of metal dangling off the strap has caused the stitching to start to rip.
I'm getting tired of lugging this thing around. Doea anyone have any ideas for mounting it back on the frame?

That just builds character for those TikTok kids

"Tariffs good because Chinese products are made with slave labour"
From what I've seen this seems to be the main talking point American chuds have landed on to defend the tariffs and to dunk on other Americans who are upset about no longer being able to buy shit on Temu, etc
It's pretty rich to accuse other countries of using slave labour for Burgerlanders in general but doubly rich for Republicans to pretend to give a shit about labour laws, working conditions, etc
It's also interesting how widespread the idea of Chinese slave labour is in the West and to contrast it with how Japan and Korea's awful work cultures get treated
China = the totalitarian communist government forces the entire country into slavery
Japan and Korea = those Asians just love working really hard or something

The entire game is just nothing but amazingly scenic moments

RDR1 was already an atmospheric game but 2 is on another level

Rockstar makes amazing sandboxes but all of their missions are incredibly strictly scripted and choreographed and allow no creativity from the player, failing them instantly when they go off script

John's journal sketches are also different, being simpler and not as well drawn as Arthur's

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the prettiest game I've ever played

I could practically feel the warm summer evening air on my skin when I took this shot- the sense of realism you get from the nature in this game is something else. Thank you crunching Rockstar devs who never got to see your children for your sacrifice
Also this shit came out on the PS4, further proof that we didn't need this newest console generation or these past few batches of overpriced GPUs that catch on fire and need additional support inside the case because they draw so much power and have bloated to such monstrous sizes

I searched for "women's wallet" on AliExpress and these were the top results. Now these I would agree do look feminine though I wouldn't mind that cool shade of red on the bottom row
Sidenote: the search immediately suggested "women sexy toy" when I typed in "women." Not sure if that would take me to dildos or anime figurines

Oh yeah, I know. I've had brightly coloured wallets, phone cases, etc. Of course, the problem with anything brightly coloured that goes in and out of your pocket a lot is that over time it eventually gets very grody looking

But what about your brain 🤔

Now I gotta look at cheap pocket watches on AliExpress
EDIT: These designs are incredible

and are often bright colors instead of just black or brown

I don't use cash very often but I do still have a couple of coins on me at most times

Female-presenting wallet (????)

Gender experts of hexbear, please help me understand wallet gendering
It's just a frigging wallet

The AliExpress app is such a bleak example of gamification

There's an entire ecosystem of Facebook-tier repetitive browser games that are designed to keep you tapping for hours as you chase tokens you can exchange for AE coins or coupons. Actually, the main point is to get you to make impulse buys from within the games themselves
The games all use different tokens and naturally run on slowly regenerating energy. If you run out energy, you can get more by exchanging some of your coins or tokens, browsing products on AE, opening another game, or by ordering something for a large energy boost
Simply buying stuff normally on AliExpress doesn't give you game tokens or energy, you need to directly buy an item from a listing the game shows you for it to count
Every single game also has a battlepass type deal with dailies and weeklies to complete for even more tokens
All of this started when Halo 2 introduced XP into online shooters
Now that everyone is talking about Oblivion again, the speechcraft minigame is one of the most pathetic things ever put into an RPG

Bethesda didn't want to make a proper CRPG with actual dialogue trees and speech checks so this is what they came up with instead
Even making random townspeople like you by impressing them with massive farts in Fable makes more sense

Children, stop writing ahh instead of ass I beg you
This shit drives me up the wall even more than "unalive"
You can't stop people saying slurs but an entire generation will subconsciously alter their entire vocabulary because they grew up on corporate platforms with very heavily moderated text chats and comment sections and they ended up internalising the filters

Edit: I was not aware of the AAVE origins of "ahh" which pushes it more towards the territory of legit slang. Still, I stand by my general point about automated moderation influencing language being bad

Guys, the Phanerozoic Eon will probably only last for 800 million more years
It's practically joever

Concept art of Ghost from Call of Duty from a cancelled multiplayer Crash Bandicoot game

Eww

In the end, Activision cancelled all Crash and Spyro projects and sent both Toys for Bob and Vicarious Visions into the Call of Duty mines, but Toys for Bob at least became independent afterwards
Edit: I'm currently watching the video this screenshot originated from and it's really depressing:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzHwPNPW2VM
At one point Activision got rid of Toys for Bob's dedicated art department since they figured they could just outsource art to contractors who they wouldn't need to give benefits to

I bought a giant jar of sliced pickles
The taste is fine but man, these things are soggy as hell and don't have any snap or crunch at all
I have made a terrible investment

Received something in the mail, now I need to download the delivery company's app and make an account to open the automated locker its in
What the fuck happened to texting a code to my mobile phone number, why does this shit need an app
No, wait, what happened to the postal service

Ublock users who got hit by Youtube's anti-adblock effort- how's your experience been?
I started getting the dreaded anti-adblock pop-ups on Youtube when they started ramping up their efforts a month or so back, and I initially went through the whole rigamarole: First it was just the pop-up, then it was the pop-up with the timer, then the 3-video countdown finally leading to the video player being disabled outright.
Throughout all of this I did the recommended Purging All Caches -> Update Now routine on the Ublock Dashboard at least once a day to keep the pop-ups away, but when it got to the player getting blocked it didn't seem to work anymore. Since I'm on Firefox, I experimented using Containers and found that I could just log in to my YT account on a different container to keep using Youtube until that container started getting blocked.
In the past few weeks I've noticed no issues though apart from having the video player blocked once, which was fixed by purging all caches and updating and I almost forgot about the whole anti-adblock thing altogether. It does see

The one area where I actually prefer using my phone over Windows
When I want to type a special non-English character like Ø, on my Android phone I simply long press on "o" on the keyboard and it brings up every variation of the letter o you could think of.
On Windows, the best you get is "please memorise this giant list of four number codes". If I'm going to have to google the code I'm probably just going to copy the letter and paste it into whatever I'm writing.
Why not add them to the damn emoji menu (Windows key + .)

Looking at the uBlock Origin subreddit and reading the struggles people have with Youtube's new anti-adblock measures
Can't wait until Google flips them on globally for all users
