  • I stand corrected

    EDIT: Nope, it was CGI.

For the opening scene, 11-year-old Luke Kokotek served as the body double for Noah Schnapp, who plays Will.

Deadline reported that the services of Weta FX were used to de-age Schnapp, following which his face was composited onto Kokotek.

  • None of this is going to happen

  • I get it. Season 1 was a cool nostalgic 80s hit. The following seasons had some fun, and good characters. But as I started watching Season 5 I really struggled to care - its the same story again, except the novelty is wearing off and the kids aren't as cute anymore. The fact that the whole opening scene was AI-generated Will Byers really turned me off. I havent finished it, maybe I will, but I don't feel very motivated.

  • I've known cats who will eat themselves into obesity if the bowl is always full, but this may be true for some cats. I do agree that feeding does create a bonding ritual - but on the other side of that coin, it will make them bug the crap out of you when you havent fed them on their expected schedule. I don't see a big issue with having a tool automatically refill the bowl every day.

  • I don't know what you mean about rotting in prison, the linked article says their proton accounts were disabled for a month or so. I'm not saying I support that, but I'd also like to know if there's really something that much more nefarious that happened.

There are no perfectly ethical choices in capitalism. I'm sure Tuta has or will have something to object to on some level. I feel the best thing I can do is make the best choices and impact I can, and to me getting a dozen people to leave Google for Proton is still better than getting one person to leave Google for Tuta.

  • I guess I was expecting more detail and not just speculation

  • Annoyed by this headline as the article does not reveal what happens at the parties

  • You might be able to just run the Windows version of Quickbooks using Wine

  • Good call. According to wiki, the French escale is descended from the Latin scala (ladder)

EDIT: I misread. The modern French word escale (port of call) descended from the Latin scala (ladder), but the similar Old French word escale/eschale (hard skin covering) came from the Old High German scala (similar meaning). BUT, the Norse skala (measuring device) mentioned in the meme DID descend from the Latin scala (ladder)!

  • Who designs the test?

  • Oh, sorry, for this comment thread yall have been saying Chrome.

But no, even with Brave, you aren't safe from Google tracking. All chromium browsers have been found to feed data back to Google.

  • You can prefer the UX of Chrome, especially since so much of the web is designed for it. But it's not a subjective personal experience that it is not private. Google exists to harvest your data. And the fact that everyone just accepts it is why the internet is so shitty.

  • I don't think so, unless that's a very new policy

  • Comicjoke aside, none of these are needed - as soon as the alien called the pile of 4 rocks "10" we could deduce his base.

  • Pensions you say?

  • OK but one of them played the "gay best friend" character so we kinda saw it coming

  • Arison said that, with consent, the app could explain “why it made sense” for people to speak to other users on the app, making them “much more willing to open a conversation.”

wtf does that even mean? And why does it require an LLM?
