  • If I want to make a piece of software to improve people's lives

If that is your intention, GPL would make more sense, as every improvement and development would be forced to be made available to those people, thus helping them further.

I doubt that your code helps anyone who needs/deserves to be helped, after beeing processed by big corpo.

You could think about your definition of freedom. For me: My freedom ends, where it restricts others people freedom - I shouldn't be free to rob people and call it restriction if someone forbids this.

  • We lefties have some easy answers and they feel quite right, too. Eat the rich. But I guess it's not that famous in the less educated social stratum - "What if I am one of the rich, after I won the lottery?"

  • There could be 3 out of 1000 people that make you feel not welcome. Don't judge a platform because of those 3 people. Maybe it helps to focus on the 4 out of 1000 people that make you feel welcome. And don't think about the 993 people who really don't care what you write.

  • I opened a google account and wrote two genuine reviews. Both were rejected automatically. I pressed a button to let them check again, they were again rejected.

I deleted my account again and remembered why I deleted my first account a few years ago. Google sucks, they can't controll their own algorythms, they are a faceless mega corp that harvests data like crazy. Everyones life would be better, if google vanished from the face of earth right now.

  • One corrupt pig gone, the next one will rise, nothing will change. The chinese will continue to exploit the country, those in power (white and black) will profit from the bribes and the poor population will still think they have a race problem, not a wealthy vs. poor problem.

  • It is an interesting business model. Good for the people he spends money on, but no one should have that much money to begin with. And I am sure he takes his cut.

But without having watched many videos of him (about 2), his appearance just screams devious weasel to me.

  • If you want to continue to use Strawberry, you could stream your music with a subsonic server, Strawberry supports that.

For me it was the other way round: I was using Nextcloud music and searched for a music player on Linux that could stream my .flac-collection via subsonic. That is how I found Strawberry.

  • For me worked:

    • Install Debian
    • be confused by all the options in the installation process, look up every unknown word, try to do everything manualy, fail
    • start installation process again, choose all the defaults, works!
    • trying to install a programm with terminal, fail because not in sudo list, look up how to get into sudo list
    • update in terminal doesn't work, have to remove some lines in /etc/apt/sources.list - look up how to use the text editor nano, look many yt-videos about Linux filesystem (what to those folders mean? Everything is a file?)
    • try to resize a partition (can't remember which), can't, because I didn't choose LVM in installation process - install Debian again, and do all the steps above again

I think I had to reinstall Debian 5 more times after that, just because I didn't know what I was doing and it was an easy reset for me.

Very frustraiting at times, and a very rewarding feeling when something worked. Made me love tech again, 10/10 would do again.

Bug report: Backspace behavior when writing comments

Does anyone else have this weird backspace behavior when writing comments? I would describe it like this:

When writing a comment or a post I sometimes press backspace a few times to correct a word. This will delete a few characters and then delete the space between the current word and the word before this word, resulting in: first wordsecon

Can anyone describe this in a more technical way? Is this already an issue on github? I couldn't find it last time I looked.
