Hi, I'm Jakob and this is my new KDE blog. Let's see how this goes as I haven't blogged for literally decades. I started working on Plasma code sometime last year and hope to play a tiny part in setting the stage for world domination improving user experiences like so many other awesome and dedicate...

Opensuse it the way. if I had time to waste and no responsabilities Id certainly use Arch though.
Really needs more stability and to solidify its modifying features, not have them a bit everywhere. Really cant have a black screen bug every time I put my PC/Laptop to sleep
does your shit compile though?
Encountering sleep/black screen bug is not freedom. The average linux user is shifting, its not longer being used only by teens/tech savvy. People want to get things done.
I think its really about wanting to just get things done instead of fixing/encountering bugs like sleep/back screen. KDE should review their priorities. But I guess its coming, you cant add new features at infinitum.

Not one of the stupid people whod pay for that. So whats the problem?
you can always look at the current state of this problem and maybe do a donation so it gets implemented faster.
they already support it. They are testing it before it gets released in their next release 555 (around July)

HDR and Color Management Wayland coming to Linux before the end of this year - Zamundaaa (Xaver Hugl)

Comment by Zamundaaa (Xaver) a couple of hours ago. (AKA One of the most prominent KDE and Wayland Dev)

There will also be a new Display/HDR HackFest in around 2 weeks where most prominent Devs from different DE and companies like Valve, ADM and Igalia will attend. Hosted by the latter in La Coruña, Spain. https://www.phoronix.com/news/2024-Linux-Display-Hackfest-May
But doesnt KDE and weston already have HDR implementations? Yes but there are patched hacks. The protocol will finally make things clear and standard so it can be implemented by all the different parties.

Are we Wayland yet or Whats missing?

Curious from people who follow its development closely.
- What protocol are about to be finally implemented?
- Which ones are still a struggle?
- How many serious protocols are there missing?

Is Neofetch abandoned?
Ive noticed its has been any activity in their github for a longtime. https://github.com/dylanaraps/neofetch
There are a few more info that could be added nowadays like Display Protocol (Wayland/X11) and Display size. FastFetch does this but Neofetch is globally recognized.
