  • I really hope Starmer has the balls to tell Trump to do one.

We just cannot trust USA any more. They'd sell us down the river in a heartbeat.

  • And nor should they. We must never accept the aggressor.

  • Ha ha ha.

2.5kt. Good job pity Ukraine doesn't have nukes anymore.

  • Unless you’re in the US, then they text secret plans directly to you

Even if you didn't want them ;-)

  • It didn't offer many options. I was on the vegan sub(?) but they seemed to have moved lock, stock and barrel from Reddit, and you get shouted down for a different opinion to theirs.

  • Couldn't see where else to put it as it didn't give me any other options.

  • Casual Conversation @lemm.ee

    Very thought provoking.

  • I'd prefer a minute, this might have been over by now.

  • Yeah I get that, it's why I don't use FB anymore. I keep WhatsApp for close family though. They're is no other option. And dont tell me to use text. Doesn't cut it.

  • Before getting on our high horse - there are mercenaries of various nationalities fighting on the Ukrainian side as well as the Russian side, that doesn't mean their governments support them.

  • This. The average user doesn't want to know about the workings and 'All that technical stuff', and why should they?

They want to click an icon and have everything and everyone there. They shouldn’t have to swap instances or what have you.

I put Mastodon on a back burner as it's just too clunky (for me at least) and am currently interacting with people from all over on BlueSky. Half the time on Mastodon (various apps/instances, web, or browser) I couldn't even log on.

BlueSky will probably go the way of others. Yes, there is a troll problem, and you need to be wary. But I had the same to a lesser extent on Mastodon.

In the end, I've had to accept my relatives, work, and old Army colleagues will never be on there, I've become resigned to that and keep a WhatsApp account for that reason.

  • Right, so we just trade in our relatives for some new ones.

That's the attitude that puts people off.

  • Try telling that to the UK.

We've got old sausage fingers to cough up for.

  • Yes, you just concentrate all the people in one place.

  • ā€œAs a pretty girl. I could wear swooshy skirts and have cute long hair. And everyone would treat me like a girl because I’d be a girl. A pretty, fun, cute girl who believes in herself.ā€ And so of course that’s what they do! That’s what I’d do"

Why not just come right out and admit it.

  • Yes it is. The quote was just the way he speaks. A fountain of word diarrhoea.

    Brilliant.

  • I'd be more convinced if he was outside a furniture store.

  • I thought he was a lot older.

    RIP Iceman.

It's not everyday you see a submarine outside your bedroom window.

Mum! There's a submarine driving down the road!

How do I make my bread really dark?

Am trying to make a dark rye loaf like you'd find on a stall or in a shop. Not the really dense 'pumpernickel' style but round or oblong tin shaped.

Have tried various percentages of strong dark rye, muscovado sugar and black treacle but the loaf is still not that dark. I did try some cocoa in one loaf but that just gave an odd colour.

Am using a Panasonic bread machine and in over 5 years it's only ever produced a couple of duff loaves - which were down to me (forgetting yeast, mixer blade or water) and often use it for the dough function and then finish in oven. Am not averse to resorting to full manual though if needed.

    Any ideas?

    TIA

    New budding author

My daughter is studying Creative Writing and English Literature at Birmingham (UK) University. She's put together some pieces on Substack. Most of them are over my head, but this one hits right in the feels. Apart from a couple of technical inaccuracies, it's spot on. Hope you like it ;-)

    Well, this is inconvenient.

Won't be doing any laundry just yet then.

    Supercat!

This was my wife’s new throw/ blanket thing. Daisy never used to get on the sofa. But now if the throw isn’t there, she’ll sit and look until one of us cracks.

    It's taken two years

She loves these throws. And as long as I keep my ankles crossed and legs still, she'll stay.

Must admit I choked up a bit as our last two would never do this.

    Time to ditch Amazon Prime?

This will be the straw that breaks the camel's back for me.
