  • No one is stopping you from giving home made, second hand, or similar gifts. You make the choice about how much consumerism you want to participate in during the holidays and all year as well.

  • I paid someone 0.1 bitcoin for a ~$30 item in 2013. I checked the receiving wallet in 2014 and it hadn't been accessed. I reached out to the guy and told him it was worth $60 and asked him if he had access still. Explained to him how he could access it, gave him some links. I reched out to him again in 2021 and told him it was worth $4k and told him he should sell it. He said he didn't remember how he set up a wallet and he couldn't access it. In the end I think he likely downloaded a wallet to his computer and then got rid of that computer. Just checked today and that .1 btc is still there, worth 9600 now.

  • Just look at ticket prices on ticketmaster for a US show and compare it to the cost of an international venue.

When I was pricing David Gilmour it was literally cheaper to buy a plane ticket and fly from NY to Rome and go to the show there than get the worst seats in Madison Square Garden.

    Which generator is "the best"?

I'm trying to generate an image and I've tried a few generators. Out of the 10 or so I've tried, only Leap will actually place items where I want them.

Eg: vaporwave wireframe mountains with a purple sun in the upper right corner of the image

Most of the time every generator will put the sun in the middle of the image.

Is it a matter of being bad at asking for what I want? Is it just that most of them won't follow simple commands about where things should go?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Feature Request: mark scrolled by posts as read.

Lemmy seems to have the feature to hide read posts which is a wonderful feature. The issue I seem to have is that I'm order to mark a post as read, I need to interact with that post in some fashion. Sometimes, I don't want to and just don't need to.
