  • Pumpkin pie also rarely is made with pumpkin, it's usually squash

  • On my phone I use youtube revanced and adguard dns, kiwi browser with ublock origin. On my PC I use just ublock origin. So far** I havent run into issues

  • This as well. I will say even the time where i would normally spend watching shows on stuff like dailymotion primewire etc i know most just watch youtube channels

  • I think its simply, at least for a while, the tech space was male dominated. And depending on the type of piracy, it requires an amount of tech skills

  • So but would this be games thst you have installed? Or is this just like the individual install files?

  • Im a little confused on whats the usecase for this? It seems cool but im a bit confused when youd be hosting stuff in this way

  • Yea those are good points. Ive heard some of the arguments about third space stuff. At this point in my life, many examples of third space places are completely uninteresting to me. But i have a full time job, a family, ect, so whether they were or were not available I dont think id utilize a third space. But i see their value

  • Yep I agree. But i wish there was a better approach to how people give that advice. Like there is a point where you.have maintained good social circles, and its time to find people who are actively looking for partners in places where thats appropriate.

Ive got friends who because they are already involved in many social groups and hobbies (but no potential dating options in those groups) are almost of the opinion that the only way they can meet someone is asking out their cute waitress or their cashier, which seems to oftentimes just kinda make someone whose just trying to work have to deal with an awkward social interaction. But to them theres something really tabboo or bad about pursuing dating apps or the like where they will be (in theory) talking to people who are there trying to find dates. Its just odd to me to go about it that way. Maybe just based off my own dating past, but I just cant imagine things evolving from just asking a random person out. And i know prople do that and it goes well. But also theres gotta be a better way to frame going to dating specific spaces that doesnt come off as cheesy and lame as I feel like it does tmost the time

  • The biggest thing to ne is it can be misguided to join those types of groups when your in a position to be looking for a partner. In general, its great to be involved in activity/hobby groups, and if you find your partner there thats wonderful. But if you are joining just to find a partner, thats where things can get really disappointing and youre not exactly there for the right reason. At the time I was involved in more than enough hobby and activity groups, and didnt need to join more only for to be 'just there to meet women'. That is the element (in theory) thats good about dating apps. Im there to meet potential partners. Im not pretending to be interested in pottery just to meet a cute girl. Im on the app with a goal of meeting a partner, and want to talk to people who also want to meet a partner. Obviously people and app devs use dating apps for other purposes. But when you are busy with work, school, and have enough hobbies and activities, having something thats very straightforward about wanting to find a partner was a lot more direct way to find someone.

  • Thank you. The title was absolute gore

  • I always see his exact photo when i see this posted. Im pretty convinced that this isnt actually how kids are dressed, otherwise the photo would once in a while be changed up

  • I met my wife through PoF, but this is exactly how Id describe dating apps. They are so designed to keep you checking the app constantly, pay for premium features and feel awful about yourself. In my situation it really was the only way I could meet anyone (was in my rotations of grad school, working 12 hour days), but the apps were like measurably depressing me

  • I havent seen anything confirming its coming to PC?

  • Not a bad idea, but the issue again is i now have two separate filter lists, so then i run into issues where communities i want filtered on both, arent filtered. So lets say i seutup what you said, then all the sudden 5 keeping up wih the Kardashians communities really take off. I would need to block them all on one, and remember all 5 and switch to the other filter list and do the same. I know this all may seem trivial, but thats a simple example. I can think of a few reasons why having interchangeable or combinable filterlists would be really useful

  • Yea maybe thats what i should do is utilize my subscribe a bit wiser

  • I guess the big thing is i want to do it on mass, like turn all the news on and off

  • This, but primarily when someone is confounded by the idea that im not into sports. Ive had this happen with a few things, but sports are one of the weireder ones. I mean to the point of them going, nah you like sports, then continuing ro go on a rant about sone game.like i know im into a lot of stuff others arent, but if they sont want to talk about it, thats perfectly fine

    Read button

I know theres sorta the ability to do this with swipe actions, but Id like the option to mark posts as read in the same line as the upvote/downvote/save/hide. It just would be a lot simpler especially when its things where from the title you can get the gist,.but you dont want to completely hide the article.

A way to temporarily filter or block news/political communities?

In short, I want the ability to hide news and political stories temporarily, much like you might hide nsfw articles temporarily when at work. Id like to be able to maintain all my previously made filters and communities, and still be able to scroll through "all", but just temporarily hide the news and such, just to get a break from it.

The only option i can think of is to make a second account that has those communities banned, but that wont keep my other filters synced, such as if I have blocked a new nsfw community on one account, it wont sync to the other. Id prefer it to stay on the one account. Currently I mainly broswe through Sync for Lemmy. If there was a feature to turn on a temporary filter list, much like hiding nsfw content temporarily, this would be great

  • Did the exact same thing with the quest 2. Two weeks after getting mine they announced the quest 3. Had to wait a few months, but glad i did

  • It could be yes, but generally people forget the upper peninsula exists instead of mistake it with the lower peninsula

View just just a specific instance, including ones that you didn't make an account with

As the list title says, it'd be nice to see all the posts in a specific instance, and not just for the one my account is setup with

    Community Post Pinning for Mods

Pretty much as the title says, the ability to pin or sticky pose on communities that I moderate would be really nice. At the moment I need to switch to the browser mode in order to pin or unpin posts but being able to do it straight through liftoff would be really good

Any chance of a two panel mode or tablet mode?

In the Reddit is fun app there is a really nice tablet mode that you could do that would pretty much have a half panel for scrolling through post another half that would have the post already open so you could scroll through post and have it be full size and two panels. Getting something similar would be really cool

My semi minimalist background. The sidebar expands to actually show quite a few apps, I use a bunch of apps on a daily basis so I couldn't really settle with just five or six that most means have, so when it's expanded out I can see quite a bit of information it's a lot faster than looking through my app drawer which hasn't even more apps but aren't ones that I use on a daily basis. Similar to my previous post but changed up the background and have been updating a few of the apps recently.

Jerboa only sorting by All+Hot ? Can't change to subscribed/local or any sorting types like new/new comments/active

As the title says, I can't change from All+Hot. I at best can go to specific communities, but can't filter to only subscribed or local (i really don't understand who wants local only, but whatever). On version 0.0.36 on Android

Under settings, for my profile it has it set to All+Active, and will not keep any changes saved. I can hit the save button, and the settings won't save it i back out of that settings section and come back

--Update So if I go under settings and change the default filtering, save, THEN force close, THEN it updates to my preferred filtering. But if I want to change it again, then I have to go to settings and force close

Text before image and Community Avatar/logo and OP Avatars

Trying this app out after using Jerboa for the last few weeks. One thing Im really missing is having the community avatar next to the name of the community, and for that matter the title of the image/post along with what the community is before the actual image is shown. This format helps give context before giving the actual content. A simple example is a meme or joke where the title is the setup to the joke and the image is the punchline. Another situation is with NSFW content. Having the title and community name be before the image helps give a preview if it's actually a blurred image you want to reveal.

Having poster and community avatars/logos just helps with organizing and giving you more context on who is posting where

Rate_Limit_Error ? Started getting this error today off and on.

As the title says, been getting this error off and on today, bolt she exactly what the issue is. I primarily use Jerboa for Android. I wasn't aggressively posting or anything, just responding to a few comments.

    Saving posts as drafts?

So a feature that was really nice about Reddit is fun was the ability to save posts as drafts. Whether it was intentional or if for some reason the post failed post then it's still saved what you typed. Great example is what's happening right now is I keep getting a rate limit error for some reason with Lemmy, which if anyone knows why I'm getting that I would really appreciate it. But not having to retype everything out because it saved as a draft would be extremely helpful in situations like that or when there's some server hiccup or whatever.

Inbox still showing notification even though all messages are read?

Especially with replies, I can have all of the different tabs underneath my inbox empty but I will still see a notification for a certain number of messages still in my inbox. The only way that I can get it marked as empty is to click the Mark all is red button. Is there any way to have it fixed in that way?

Reply to Replies without going to post?

It would be nice to be able to reply to replies in your messages or notification damn directly from the tab. Instead of having to open the post and find where the reply was. Especially for situations where it is a post with a lot of comments searching for the specific replies little tedious

How to set "all" and "sort by hot" as default instead of "local" and "sort by active"

As the title says, I'm looking to change the default behavior of what contents shown when I load up the app. I do have it set in profile settings to show all and sort by hot but it seems like the app always switches it to local and sort by active. Especially the show all I want because I'm trying to discover new communities
