  • I've been hearing about Linux elitists for the last 20 years, and I have yet to meet one. But what I do see is an endless wave of trolling and bad faith arguments about the supposed complexity of Linux.

They treat a wide array of developers, maintainers and enthusiasts as employees of Linux inc, and now they're grumpy because their imaginary ticket submitted to a nonexisting helpdesk is not being processed.

I have recieved much more help and support from the Linux community than from any other proprietary software helpdesk.

  • Copyright is a temporary monopoly on making copies of a work in order to reimburse artists and writers and encourage creativity. It has been hijacked by corporations and turned into this horrid thing where a work enters the public domain only when it has been completely forgotten by the general public.

  • I used to frequent the /tg/ board, it had people making homebrew conceptual RPGs - the kind of stuff that the indie RPG scene pretends to have invented. Sorry to see the site go, but it was inevitable.

  • I've encountered many situations of priests having girlfriends, boyfriends and even whole ass families on the side and the parishioners were...okay with it? Like, being celibate is one of the basic prerequisites for your job and you are violating it so casually? No wonder the Catholic church is hemorraging members, this type of in-your-face hipocrisy has become commonplace.

YSK: Comicsrss has almost every "gag-a-day" comic RSS feed

RSS is a convenient way of getting content without bothering with bookmarks and getting annoyed with ads. I'm on a RSS finding spree, so I've decided to share this with you.

YSK: Use RSS feeds to curate your online experience

Over reliance on algorithms has degraded the user experience to the point that the average user is drowning in ragebait and extremist politics, because they drive up engagement. Just like a toddler, algorithms don't discriminate between good and bad attention, so everything that gets clicks is thrust forward. Now, you could hope to train the algorithm to show you only postive things, but engagement is engagement and the algorithm curators often engage in rage farming, where your feed is injected with things that are likely to enrage you.

You can avoid this by installing an RSS reader, going to your favorite sites, and manually adding a RSS feed. Now, your reader has things that you manually selected, with the added bonus of having a content pipe free of malicious interference. You can also divide topics in a way that you can avoid certain themes and news until you decide to engage them.
