  • as with our last civil war it will be our bottom tier of society pitted against itself. the sides will, as with last time, be truly horrifically and abjectly evil vs evil but in a way that the most marginalized have some hope of survival under. our only way to a better society afterwards will be to actually do reconstruction this time and not to just half ass it because for the second side they view profit in being gentle to the truly evil.

funny how everytime there's a big war about whether or not Ur-Fascism is bad, the winning side selects a handful of losers to protect and keep safe, and then those losers become the basis for a new fascist movement. see also: operation paperclip

  • the goal was to enforce poverty, not to resolve it. this is the system working exactly as intended

  • it gets darker and more insidious than that. america's definition of poverty is unique unto ourselves. the rest of the world views poverty as a condition in which a person is unable to do all the human things humans do. poverty wages, everywhere else, is anyone not making a living wage. but we, in our incredible exceptionalism, defined our own definition of poverty, and then refuse to acknowledge that more and more people are slipping into it.

the key to understanding why we refuse to acknowledge this is because poverty is enforced. it is always enforced. the natural order of nature is for humans to care for eachother. the greedy parasites who control us though need us to be desperate enough to keep us from realizing we provide them with comforts we do not benefit from because we're just trying to scrape out a basic living from table scraps.

  • a stratified society with a single ultrapowerful dictator is not indicative that the CCP are actually communist…

  • no. No. NO. NOOO!

why are we even giving this this rigorous fact check this many days later when it was so obviously and blatantly a photoshop lie. i get that there's a journalistic process and procedure to follow, but this feels like journalism's equivalent to cuck schumer's strongly worded letter with 8 strong questions. in the time it took you to fact check this obvious lie, you could have investigated something more insidious like a military base spilling 26 tons of nitric acid into a fragile river ecosystem.

you can't deal with 47's and the republican's insanity like it's normal. you can't engage in business as usual. there are unseen horrors going on in the world that your journalistic duty is to draw attention to. you are letting 47 set the narrative for the republicans by doing this. you are playing their game when the only winning move is not to play

  • we're probably going to have a civil war of some variety. that's my prediction at least

  • how long until Baron tortures him to death for his own petty amusement?

  • which benefits russia exclusively and is what they wanted from the beginning

  • sure, but we're trying to communicate to people right now who didn't understand they were voting for nazis. we do more to bring people into the fold against this by making it obvious who they're against and who's hurting them. nazi regime is cathartic, republican regime is messaging

  • Fascists are universally serial losers

    1. A state can just repeal their own minimum wage
    2. The existence of states using the federal minimum wage means it matters to the people who live in those states
    3. Poverty anywhere indicates the possibility of poverty everywhere. Being somewhere "without poverty" does not make you safe from poverty. It just means you are less proximate to poverty for now
  • you can tell it's bad at being a truck by taking one glance at it. all the other companies didn't arrive at the same design via a process of convergent evolution because they're a bunch of uncreative sheep thinkers. it's simply the shape a truck must be in order for it to do the things that trucks do

  • i did, but i'm glad haha. spelling is not my strong suit, so i spelled it a way and then spell check corrected it to what i put and i just said "you know best spell check"

  • 53 lb feet of torque in a 400lb frame is a scooter to you!? bruh, those are incredible specs for an ev motorcycle this price

  • note that none of that is shooting a bear with a gun or fighting the bear because those "hikers" are the goddamn dumbest

  • do you think pp has any idea how much you have to suck for everyone to rally around a fucking banker of all people? like, you're so goddamn evil that everyone's like "we gotta make sure that the embodiment of the banality of evil is in charge to keep that psycho over there away from power"

    Disney Reboots Bum Me Out

I just want to have a discussion about this. All of the remakes and reboots hollywood has done throughout its history have always been a way of just making money by putting all the money on "sure" bets, things that producers already know people like because they were successful before, but there's something exceptionally soulless about the Disney reboots.

There seems to be no true desire to introduce a new generation to stories they weren't familiar with, but instead a desire to just rewrite disneys entire catalog to be presented in a new aesthetic. It's a homogenization of film to a single set of techniques and looks. Capitalism is directly strangling creativity and it's being successful enough that it's seemingly never going to stop. I mean. They're rebooting movies that aren't even 20 years old yet at this point. There are people in college seeing promos for reboots of movies their parents took them to as kids.

It's creating this environment where we're all stuck in this moment th

Posting from my alt account because file uploads seem to still not be working on beehaw

For the screen readers: This is a very small preying mantis that was on my door this morning. It is about the length of my first finger's first bone (the finger tip).

    hachyderm.io Beehaw (@beehaw@hachyderm.io)

Hi Beeple! I (Lionir) have shut down the server until further notice. There seems to be a big vulnerability in Lemmy at the moment that is propagating at an alarming rate. I'd rather be safe than sorry. Hope this doesn't last too long.

Lionir elected to prevent any potential data leaks by shutting down Beehaw until the issues lemmy.world and lemmy.blahaj.zone are identified and resolved
