Fair. I'm still of the opinion that a good sauce can save a mediocre meal and that's not necessarily a problem, but I respect your opinion as well

I'm not sure I agree; think about barbeque, Mexican food, Chinese food, curry, salad dressing... Hell, eggs benedict. Ask any chef if sauce is important, and they'll tell you that there's traditionally an entire position in high-end kitchens dedicated almost exclusively to sauces (saucier). Since a sauce can be as much an integral part of a meal as the breading on the chicken, I tend to disagree.
Your preferred style of fried chicken sandwich may not heavily feature sauce, but other styles do.

Not all of us have decent fast food chicken chains; out on the West Coast I had 4 Chick-fil-A within easy driving distance before I had one Raising Cane's or Popeye's within an hour of my house.
Plus, Chick-fil-A is almost more about the sauce than the chicken. The chicken is ok, but the sauce is chef's kiss

That book... Was the Bible

I brought a six pack to a final exam in grad school (take the test in the same state in which you study, right?) and people around me perked up and almost literally started drooling when I cracked the first one.
Edit: no, we engineering students don't have drinking problems, you have a drinking problem!

Do people still use ratemyprofessor? The reviews at my school don't seem terribly recent

Get this lizardposting outta here

And if you want John K Samson doing indie rock with alt-country influence, the Weakerthans are fantastic. I highly recommend listening to Reconstruction Site straight through.

Windhand. Sort of a psychedelic doom metal with groovy elements and a haunting, ethereal female vocalist

We use Roll20 as a VTT, but we all run a zoom meeting at the same time because we live in different states and continents and it's good to see their faces (and their kids and partners). Shrug It's a pretty wide range of technology skills and preferences, so we went with the stuff people know best.

The Paradox of Tolerance writ large in real time

Mörk Borg? Other Fria Liga? Other Borg-likes? Other Kickstarter games? Is that just me?
Don't get me wrong, I love PF2 and I mostly actually play 5E with my friends on zoom (that bunch of Philistines), but I can't be the only one obsessively finding niche games online like Into the Odd and Forbidden Lands and Frontier Scum and Inevitable and porting them into system-agnostic hex-flowers that could support Dark-Tower-esque realm crawling and West March-ish living worlds that I can never find anyone that wants to play and...
Do I have a problem? Am I out of touch? No, it's the D&D players that are wrong

Coming out via She-Ra memes is the best way to ensure that only people that are objectively awesome understand what the hell is going on

I'm not much of a gambler either, but I live in a casino town, and I've gotten lots of drinks comped by sitting with $20 in a video poker machine while I drink and shoot the shit with my friends.
Just remember to tip well, and go in with the mindset that any money you're betting is the cost of entertainment for the evening. It's a fun way to spend an evening, and plenty of times I wind up going home with money that I would have just spent at a bar.
Edit: also if you're into sports, the sports book is the way to go. If you wager $10 in what's called a parlay on 3 different games, you can win $160, so even games you otherwise didn't care about suddenly become interesting. Betting in three baseball games can be a great way to kill a day hanging out in the summer

Even the cheap places as long as you are wagering a certain amount

I'm not sure it helps, but just know that there are plenty of cis-hets out there willing to use our privilege to fucking rage on your behalf.

you’d be shot for sure
Do you think it's a coincidence that MLK was only shot once he started speaking out against the rich and unifying the lower class (of all races)? I'm not saying there was a conspiracy (though I wouldn't rule it out) or that MLK was the second coming or a prophet, but it's pretty clear he started making the ruling class nervous once he started talking about class war.

In the end, every last one of them burns.
If there was a just god, they would all burn. But if there was a just god, they wouldn't get to be billionaires in the first place. Billionaires aren't worried about hell or the afterlife because most of them know deep down that there will be no repercussions for their unethical behavior.

I thought Prey would be great for pre-teens, but my wife hasn't seen it and was super skeptical (and she didn't want to watch it, which was probably more of the issue), so... shrug. Next time she's having a night out, we'll probably do it.
Tangentially related (since this is our go to when the wife is out of town), all 3 of my kids have loved kaiju movies since the oldest was in diapers, so if you haven't watched Pacific Rim and the modern "kaiju-verse" (or whatever it's called), I highly recommend it, ideally from a pillow fort on the couch so you can play act being kaiju and knocking over your own city if it gets slow.

No, it's just I don't think many of my IRL friends actually would know the term "hentai," but I do live in a pretty isolated, technology-averse town in the mountains, so it's probably just my circumstances
Due to the right-wing talking points espoused by Musk, Zuck, and Bezos, Google has quietly become the least threatening of the tech giants
Or least, they seem less overtly evil than the rest of the bad apples at this time.
edit: I know they are just as bad as the rest of them, but by having CEO's that have managed to stay out of the headlines lately, they're being discrete about eroding our civil liberties and degrading civil discourse

If I subscribe to a community that's from a different instance than my "home" instance, where should I browse to see that community?
For instance, I made an account here in Lemmy.world because it seemed like a nice, well rounded place to start. However, I want stuff from TTRPG.network to show up when I browse my "frontpage," but all I see is my Lemmy.World communities.
I'm using Liftoff on Android at the moment, but I'm a newb, so I'm clearly not tied to that app.
