  • I like that countries invested millions into shit posting because how effective it is and people online who randomly shit post are like "if only we tried gathering in a random street for the hundred time with cardboard shit posts and no ability to spread this message will we succeed"

  • Imagine if everyone just donated $10. We could fund our own think tank one that actually does the research, develops strategy, identifies pressure points, crafts effective slogans, and figures out how to organize and target key demographics for real impact.

I'm tired of the usual approach where people are randomly called to show up and yell. It’s not working. Meanwhile, our opponents are using think tanks to play the long game and win. We're playing checkers while they're playing chess.

We need to face the facts: they're outmaneuvering us. If we want to stand a chance, we have to stop reacting and start adapting, using some of the same strategic tools, but with our own values and purpose.

  • I think it should. It fixes a lot of issues. There's enough wealth out there that this concept could actually work. Any thriving nation should have a universal basic income to prevent all its citizens from succumbing to poverty. What' do you think are the cons here?

The argument against is understandable. If you quickly look at it's clearly a misappropriation of tax dollars. But hear me out on this. What if at the end of the day is costing the same if not less to fund this program.

With ubi you can get rid of a lot of government waste and all the administration that comes with each of those other programs. Social security, welfare, programs focused on poverty, subsidy. They're all gone and the costs to fund these massive departments.

There's also an argument that addiction and mental health epidemic is worsened by poverty. By providing people with basic needs we can reduce suffering massively. This benefits everyone.

It also encourages entrepreneurs. People will have more ability to take risks with their ideas. No longer would starting a business be isolated to trust fund kids and people with strong safety nets.

It helps solve the problem of AI risking other people's jobs. This makes it easier for us to fully adopt new technology and automation helping the country to be competitive in this new area without fear of increasing poverty.

Just look at recent events. Having all this wealth concentrated on the hands of guys who review pizza places or these Dynasty's that go back generations is not benefiting us. They play with the lives of everyone so casually that it creates a lot of suffering and we still lose all that wealth and get nothing for it. Watching the way these billionaires casually lose millions over the past few months and not care while they argue that they can't even be taxed has opened my eyes to a lot of things.

Our countries are suffering and dying out because wealth stealing it's concentration by the upper crust of all our nation's. It's not immigrants. It's not politicians. It's not the drug users. It's the upper class stealing from us.

  • Having kids changed my view. Originally I believed nature influenced our gender roles. Since having kids I have seen in my kids and others that there are clear differences in how both boys and girls interact with the world and both are pretty incredible to watch. I think maybe the idea that being more stoic and less emotional is ok.

Saying all that, there are definitely cultural influences that can take these inherent traits to toxic levels.

I'd like to see studies showing when kids are left to their own that they will trend towards non traditional gender based toys. My gut is believing that this may not need proof that girls and boys do not experience emotions with similar intensity.

One thing I think is a clear difference is attention to details between men and women. What I worry is that if we start thinking men and women are more similar than they are we could run into problems when average people wrongly assume the other experiences things they do.

  • The comment is the proof. I can also go on to r/conservative or r/h3 to show similar ideas.

My point is, Lemmy and others on the left are so holed up in corners like Lemmy that they are unprepared to actually engage.

People on the left do not engage with the world. Second of all, calling everyone Nazi and fascists isn't doing Jack shit. Fucking evolve and adapt

  • The left keep losing because you all think protesting is more effective then using online sources to spread ideas.

Did Russia invest in protests to get trump elected?

No they invested efforts into the IRA.

They have turned the main population against the left at every protest with just online engagement. They even turn the left on themselves. They minute a decent voice makes themselves known on the left, there's always group on the left that pops up to abuse them. A few weeks ago I saw people calling Jon Stewart a fascist.

Keep protesting though everyone. You're making great progress so far. Maybe you just need a few more thousand next time.

  • This is why I love the left. You're all holed up in your silos and have no idea what the opposition to you actually believe. At the same time the opposition is actively expanding out so many people believe this sentiment and when the left are confronted with these things it's shocking to them. Meanwhile these ideas have become common.

There's just no resistance to them spreading ideas.
