  • Ours is a variable speed compressor so during the summer, it is set to 76 during the day when my wife/kids are there and set to maintain humidity under 50% which allows overcooling by 2 degrees. We run at 70/69 at night because our youngest doesn't sleep well with the fan running in our room so I have it cooler to keep from soaking the bed with sweat.

  • There are different heating element sizes for electric heaters and different burner btu ratings for gas heaters. You can have a big tank and low heating output, a small tank with a high output, or any other combo of those.

My solution is to buy the highest output heater with as big of a tank as you can find, crank the output to just below the flamethrower output level, and shower with my wife. It fixes most of the problems with a benefit of naked wife time.

I live on the gulf coast with a shitty power grid so we have gas powered tank heaters so it still works during an outage, otherwise I would probably go tankless.

  • My server that I host emby on is an unraid setup and using the "automated ripping machine" docker has been super handy for transferring my physical discs into digital form for proper preservation.

Completely unrelated, but did you know that most local libraries have music on cds and movies on dvd/blu rays that you can checkout for free with a linrary card?

  • I have been really happy with Emby. The setup was easy, library tags updated more reliably than plex, and remote access was simple to get setup with a user account. I am not using a vpn to access it, just give it the server details and user credentials and it works. I did opt for the paid lifetime version though.

  • Suggestion

  • I spun up a win10 vm in bazzite to run my CAD and Windows specific stuff and have basically not used it in months now. The libre office suite has gotten much better over the years and most of my normal usage just didn't end up being OS specific. Its been a great and easy transition for me.

Croup can eat a bag of dicks.

My 7 month son got croup and has been in an out of the ER twice this week. Its currently midnight and is getting another nebulizer dose before we get moved to a room. Hes doing better but its been rough. We are gonna be here at least another day for observation this time which is way better than getting sent home again to see how he does. Here's hoping he kicks its ass and gets over this quick. It sucks seeing my little guy sick like this.

Edit: he's doing a lot better today. They were doing the nebulizer every two hours and its been almost 7 without it now. Fingers crossed we are over the hump. Thanks for the support y'all.

Sound off, how is everyone doing through the storm?

We lost power around 4:30 A.M. and have one fence panel down but are holding on okay otherwise.

    Doing Butt stuff today

Happy Father's day y'all. To celebrate I am doing a 9ish lb boston butt on my vision smoker with hickory chips and oak charcoal. Its been on for about 4 hours so far. I have some wings waiting on this lovely hunk of flavor to get closer to done so I can pull it and wrap it before getting the chicken on.

Custom "Explorer" partscaster I built a few years ago.

25.5" scale neck, poplar body, coil tapping pickups, knockoff floyd from guitar fetish. The body was dyed using angelus leather dies (recommended by BigDGuitars on yt) it was a good first project to learn on and a lot of fun to make. Picture was taken before I installed the control knobs but it really pops in the sun.

PWC (jetski) thru hull bearing centering fixture. Printed on a creality halot one.

I am swapping a seadoo rotax 255hp motor into a kawasaki stx hull and I needed a way to set the axial, angular, and radial position of the thru hull seal so I printed up some guides to hold the tube on the driveshaft while I fiberglassed it in. It worked brilliantly.
