I feel like jokes are a reflection on the people making them, based on their own experiences and biases. Jokes also need to be rooted in some kind of reality we all agree on in order to subvert and become funny.
A dumb joke about cats not wanting toys still tells me the owner has no idea or doesn't care. And I've met these owners many times before. So many people see their pets as furniture and understand nothing about them, their personalities or their needs.
I'd say Sarah doesn't know much about cats or is just lazy.
Cats love toys, but it needs to be engaging. They love their pray to feel alive, to move, to hide. A crumpled up piece of paper on a string tied to a stick works wonders. That means the owner needs to participate, but most don't. Also cats are crepuscular so for maximum success keep play limited the evening or morning. You might be surprised how much of a hunter your cat actually is.
Would be amazing. At the moment I don't know of a single brand opening up batteries to fix them. They all consider them a single replaceable component/module even though inside that's far from the case.
...if nothing goes wrong with anything in the system.
Don't get me wrong, I like EVs but there is always a risk that a single cell in the pack dies or a transistor on a BMS explodes and no one want to have anything to do with it. They will sell you a full pack which is usually so expensive it totals the car. This is a pretty shitty risk dangling over second hand vehicles especially.
This being unsustainable has been a discussion point for years at this point and yet they keep on fighting while it feels like western society is slowly collapsing.
I think calling it fear mongering against EVs is right in the sense that it's not exclusive to EVs. All cars have cameras, microphones and sensors these days and are connected, so legislation should deal with that properly.
I don't understand the downvotes you got. The same people will complain when a profit driven reddit alternative springs up to take the mainstream while Lemmy remains niche because they wanted a kind of exclusive club. Being unfriendly to the user is a recipe for failure.
On the flip side, the biggest forum on the internet being shared, distributed and owned by its' users would be an incredible win.
Even the integrated windows Notepad does this now.

Then how are sooo many millions of people supporting him even now.
Wait, Romania is EU's only "hybrid regime" but Hungary isn't?
What you are talking about is kipferl which is definitely Austrian. But someone took that and made it into something new using yeast-leavened laminated dough, called it croissant, and where they did that was 100% in Paris, France. There is no doubt about it because it happened recently enough. They are absolutely not the same end product and I would be outraged if someone served me half-moon shaped bread roll, which is what the Austrian thing is, while trying to pass it off as a croissant.
The origin sure, as much as bread's origin is in wheat. Croissant as you know it is French, from Paris specifically. Not that I condone them having some kind of veto on how people get to use this invention now.

I find Gemini has better communication and comprehension ability compared with assistant, but can do even less when it comes to controlling the phone. No reminders, no calendar events, no messages, no integration with anything. Just talking.
I would have preferred assistant talk and understand better, instead of a completly gimped alternative that does that and nothing more.
Exactly how Instagram works for me. I hate it when people link to Instagram videos.
It's still there for me, called Fediverse Forums. It's a lens you can disable or reorder so maybe you did and forgot about it? It's also different to Forums lens which doesn't seem to include Fediverse for some reason.
Has had it for a while and can easily be toggled between normal search and lemmy search, forums, academic, pdfs, etc. It's glorious.
Left or right has nothing to do with it. The guy is a spineless corrupt Russian agent and the justice system is doing its' job unlike recent examples of other countries.
There hasn't been any will of the people expressed yet. The guy is a Russian asset with zero spine and he's been eliminated from the race. The people will get to express their will with the other candidates, of which they'll have many.
My only question is why it took so long to get here?
Do these servers get attacked and taken down like it sometimes happens with trackers?

It genuinely upsets me that Valve spent their time and resources on another Dota variation
Like for many other people, Valve single player experiences were one of my favorite of all time growing up. I considered both Half-Life and Portal to be masterpieces. It's true they've always been distracted with multiplayer games as well, things like Counter-Strike or Team Fortress and I did play them for sure, because I was a kid and I had all the time in the world.
These days I'm not a kid anymore and so when I game I tend to look more for memorable experiences instead of mindless grinding. Obviously I remember Valve as the experts in creating memorable experiences and I would like them to keep fully exploring those talents. They don't have that many employees, but they do have all the money in the world, no external pressure, no publisher to shit on them, it's just their developers and artists and a vision. But then they use all that and create this. An Overwatch looking moba shooter, really? I'm sure people will like and play it, but is this the results of the vision and ambition

Is there an auto hide read feature?
I've been using sync for a while and occasionally I go looking in the settings for the feature to hide read posts automatically, instead of having to do it manually. Other Lemmy clients have this so I was convinced sync should probably have it as well, I just can't find it. Does this exist? If not, is it something that could be added? Thanks!
