  • In the past when I've had to migrate emails I'll set up automatic forwarding for anything important like that. Then switch the services you can. Idk if something like that could work for you and it is admittedly a bit of a pain to keep track of. Could limit MS influence on your stuff though

  • Well there's the general world in fire and being trans in the US that's ever present. For personal stuff I'm currently working toward moving to a new country and going back to college. Hoping that all pans out otherwise you know, being trans in the US...

  • It's me, another trans who is actively applying to move out of the US. If I were staying here I'd be arming myself too even though I hate everything about guns. I've been voting, protesting, community aid, talking with people I know, building relations with my neighbors, it's all backsliding anyway. Not a lot of options left for me

  • At my previous apartment the lights outside were so bright it was unreal. Sixth floor, curtains, I could still read books at night without turning on an inside light. Can't remember the last time I saw more than a dozen stars in the sky even at my new place. Light pollution is a very present thing here

  • Places I've lived in the US people keep them off as the default. Here in Seattle people don't even turn them on at night half the time, I guess they think the street lighting is good enough. I try and signal people to turn on their lights if I'm biking at night and so far none that I know of have actually turned them on

  • One of my friends lives in what used to be considered a town. Currently it has a population of like 10 people 4 of which are their family and another is one of their roommates. It is now part of the nearest town about 20 miles away and makes for some logistical novelties like mail delivery and school bus routes

We needed an entryway stuff shelf and this was the least bad location for one

This is the first shelf I've ever built! I've made a couple workbenches before but never a shelf. Hopefully the first of many we've got a few places around the house that need better storage

    Large power outage, transformer blew

I was right near where what I assume was a transformer just blew up, in the yesler terrace area. The explosion sound was wild and the apartment smells like ozone now. I'm seeing people talk about it all the way in the id and beacon hill, anyone here getting hit by it?

    Lower surgery big update!

So this morning I wasn't able to stand without nearly passing out and thought for sure they weren't going to let me go home. I was really down and having some difficulty processing that I might need to be in the hospital for yet another extra day. It was really disheartening because I had actually been able to walk previous days but after the pain spikes I wasn't able to

I got a motivational call from someone close to me though, the hospital trans outreach person brought the emotional support chihuahua by a couple of times, and I built really specific plans with my nurses and doctors for ways I could get walking again

It took so much work and I was exhausted through the entire way but I managed to do it! Also bonus points I finally managed to poop which was a big event after five days of not 😐

They let me out of the hospital, one hour car ride back home with only some minor screaming pain toward the end, and I'm back on track again. I've walked around a couple more times today, lik

    Just had lower surgery!

Currently laying in the hospital, like 18 hours post surgery. I didn't ever think I'd get here and there has been so much hardship but I'm here and so far recovery is going well. Obviously there is still a long way to go and there could be complications down the line but I'm happy and well right now

I've been able to have a full meal already and in a few hours they're going to see if I'm able to shuffle around. The nurses have all been so kind to me. When I went into the OR before I was under, they let me name the giant robot arm machine. Everyone here has been good I feel very cared for

Because all the meds and bandages my brain hasn't made the connection yet though which is exceptionally weird. I'm having phantom limb basically. I've read about that happening can't say it prepared me for how it actually feels in person though

Update 1: I was able to walk two times, the third attempt I almost passed out after standing up though. I've had some good hours of sleep but suddenly got ve

Just got another one of my drawings on me!

This is on my calf. I'm excited to have one that I can actually see without having to contort myself in front of a mirror, and I can show off to people without getting half undressed

(long rant) Feeling very isolated and scared

Just want to note ahead of time, yes I'm in an enormous amount of therapy already

Nothing in particularly spicy detail but topics and possible triggers include: Surgery, breakups, alcoholism, sex, generally poor mental health

I'm having surgery in June which I'm very excited about but also it's a big thing to be going through and I've needed a lot of emotional support. I spent the last few years building up my social circle and being in a vibrant polycule. In the last year though I've managed to go through 5 breakups, 4 of which were very long term, and now a divorce. This most recent breakup has been so hard on me, I was starting to heal from my paranoia I'd get dumped out of nowhere, the day I finally couldn't hold it in any more and was going to tell them I loved them they broke up with me before I had the chance. I don't have any partners left, I've only got a couple friends left one of them is in a different state. I spent years lining up my social circle with a lot of care and

I registered the big stupid cars domain lol

    As found in https://lemmy.ml/post/12000676

It seemed like a fun bit so I registered the domain. I have nginx running on a server but we need to wait for the dns records to hopefully point things the right way.

So while that's in progress, what should I put on the new site? (keeping in mind the server I got is absolutely tiny because I'm not spending -that- much on a bit, also my website making skills are minimal)

Edit, here's the link for whenever dns goes through: http://www.learnhowtodriveyourbigstupidcaryoudumbfuck.com/

Edit: Got the url to work and hopefully it is redirecting correctly to https. Now to figure out adding things people are suggesting using my 15+ year out of date website making knowledge

(Reuters) - Videogame software provider Unity Software will target laying off approximately 25% of its workforce, or 1,800 jobs, the company said in a regulatory filing and internal company memo on Monday.

This is the San Francisco-based company’s largest layoff ever, with completion expected by the end of March, the company said. While Unity is not widely recognized outside the gaming industry, over 1.1 million game creators rely on its software toolkit each month, including the maker of the popular “Pokemon Go,” “Beat Saber” and “Hearthstone” games.

Monday’s deep job cut will affect all teams, regions and areas of the business, the company told Reuters.

The layoffs come shortly after interim CEO Jim Whitehurst announced a “company reset” in November.

“We are … reducing the number of things we are doing in order to focus on our core business and drive our long-term success and profitability,” Whitehurst wrote in the memo to all Unity employees on Monday.

    Flail Snail with Goblin Rider

Here's one I painted for a friend, flail snails are one of their favorite DnD monsters. Lot of firsts on this one: Using UHU glue for slime effects, smooth color transition (red/yellow eye stalks), played with some red/blue duo pigment for the shell, and I'd never made a desert base before. I'm pretty happy with the results!

    Ranting, Could use some encouragement

I've somehow managed about a year and a half without drinking. A couple things helped me stop but the biggest one was the people in my life supporting me and the deep connections I had. I'm poly and married (for now anyway) so a lot of my emotional stability is through having several people very close to me.

This fucking year though. This year I lost my anchor partner who I was expecting to move in with, two other long term partners, a third long-term partner hasn't been talking to me much lately, my spouse of over a decade is wanting a divorce (which has been expected for a while still rough though). Losing my anchor partner has absolutely fucked me up. I was falling more in love with them every day and we were talking often about our future togerher. They broke up with me very out of the blue via text. Add to all this my job is talking laying off a huge amount of employees. I'm fighting with insurance and might end up owing something like $50k. This whole year has been like this j

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Videogame software provider Unity Software will eliminate 265 jobs or 3.8% of its global workforce and end an agreement with a digital video effects company founded by the “Lord of the Rings” director as part of a “reset,” the company said on Tuesday.

The move follows a tumultuous period for the San Francisco-based company, which makes a software toolkit used by many videogame developers including the maker of the popular “Pokemon Go” mobile game.

In September, the company tried to impose a new “runtime fee” pricing policy, which charged new fees to its game developers if certain revenue and install thresholds were met. Following a developer revolt and a steep dropoff in share price, the company revamped the new fees.

In October, Unity CEO John Riccitiello retired, and the company appointed former IBM president Jim Whitehurst as interim CEO and president and Sequoia Capital partner Roelof Botha as board chairman.
