Cash No Longer Is Switzerland’s Top Payment Method, SNB Says
Debit cards just overtook cash as the most widely used payment method in Switzerland.
Some 35% consumer transactions in stores were settled using debit cards last year, with physical money accounting for 30%, according to a Swiss National Bank survey published Tuesday. That compares with 21% and 70% respectively in 2017. Another 18% were settled using mobile payment apps and 14% via credit cards.
Cash is an emotive issue in Switzerland, where every inhabitant on average holds the equivalent of $10,481 in bills and coins. That’s the second-largest holding of all economies where the Bank for International Settlements collates [data](https://archive.is/o/Ko75k/https://data.bis.or

Do you encrypt your drives and why or why not?
I was recently intrigued to learn that only half of the respondents to a survey said that they used disk encryption. Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows have been increasingly using encryption by default. On the other hand, while most Linux installers I've encountered include the option to encrypt, it is not selected by default.
Whether it's a test bench, beater laptop, NAS, or daily driver, I encrypt for peace of mind. Whatever I end up doing on my machines, I can be pretty confident my data won't end up in the wrong hands if the drive is stolen or lost and can be erased by simply overwriting the LUKS header. Recovering from an unbootable state or copying files out from an encrypted boot drive only takes a couple more commands compared to an unencrypted setup.
But that's just me and I'm curious to hear what other reasons to encrypt or not to encrypt are out there.

Harris says she won’t stop Biden’s policy of sending weapons to Israel

In an interview with CNN, Harris said she supports a ceasefire deal but made it clear that she would not stop sending Israel weapons if elected.

In her first interview as the Democratic presidential nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris told CNN it was imperative to reach a ceasefire deal in Gaza, but made it clear that she would not alter President Joe Biden’s policy in the region.
However, when pressed on whether she would stop sending weapons to Israel she told Bash, “No, we have to get a deal done, Dana. We have to get a deal done.”
“Adopting an arms embargo against Israel’s assault on Gaza is not only a moral imperative but also a strategic move to defeat Trump and MAGA extremism. It is difficult for the Democratic candidate to champion democracy while arming Netanyahu’s authoritarian regime” reads a recent letter to Harris from the coalition Not Another Bomb.
Recent polling has repeatedly demonstrated that Democratic voters overwhelmingly support the condition

Study : AI hinders productivity and makes working worse
Management drank the Kool Aid but staff can't cope with new demands
Bosses expect artificial intelligence software to improve productivity, but workers say the tool does the opposite, according to a survey by find-a-workplace research org the Upwork Research Institute, a limb of talent-finding platform Upwork.
The survey elicited responses from 2,500 workers across the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. Half of respondents were C-suite execs, a quarter worked full time and the remained were freelancers. Respondents represent different age groups and genders, but all were required to have completed high school and to use a computer for their work at least “sometimes.”
Findings include that C-suite executives are asking more of workers – 81 percent of 1,250 executive respondents acknowledge as much, according to the survey.

Similarly, when you survey people about what motivates them at work, they go “Feeling good about myself! Having freedom, the respect of my coworkers, and opportunities to develop my skills, learn things, and succeed!” When you survey people about what motivates others, they go, “Money and job security!” In another survey, people claimed that they value high-level needs (e.g., finding meaning in life) more than other people do.3

Commission will start questioning its industry about competition with China and others on older-generation microchips.
Europe is widening its focus from high-tech to low-tech microchips as it fears a fresh challenge from Chinese subsidized firms to supply the electric vehicle boom.
The European Commission will start to question microchip suppliers and customers about legacy chips and whether there is a dependency on China supplies, it told POLITICO in a statement, with first results expected by the end of summer.
Officials fear a challenge to the bloc's market power on so-called legacy microchips — older-generation technology used in cars, household appliances and medical devices. The move follows a similar one in the United States, where the government launched a survey on the topic in January.

Can you tell which images are AI generated?

This is a casual survey to see if people are able to tell which images are created by AI, and which are created by humans. Try to answer as accurately as you can, and feel free to guess!

Hey everyone. I made a casual survey to see if people can tell the difference between human-made and AI generated art. Any responses would be appreciated, I'm curious to see how accurately people can tell the difference (especially those familiar with AI image generation)

Thank you for the response to this study so far! We're getting a lot of good data, but we still need more!
Once again thanking the mods for allowing to post and collect surveys here. In case you haven't seen one of my posts this past week, I'm conducting a study on the major theories and thought groups via survey/poll that this subreddit holds. I'm posting this for a different time zone and different day to ensure we get a good sample from the community. It would be very helpful if you could take 5-10 minutes of time to fill out the poll/survey. It's can be quite an enjoyable survey to take if you like expressing your opinions on UAP figures, phe
