Backing up electronic text books?
Nursing student here, nearing the end of the program (WOOOOOO!). Most of my textbooks are digital, cuz those were cheaper than the physical versions, but when I log into my 'eLibrary' now, there's a little notification flag that pops up saying access to it ends soon (a month or so after I graduate).
Um... what the fuck?! I'm still going to need access to that material through my nursing career or if I decide to go for a higher degree type.
Most of my textbooks are published by Elsevier, and hosted in an 'eLibrary' at https://pageburstls.elsevier.com/ - once the book it open, it's obnoxiously locked down: copying via ctrl+C does nothing, printing a page or print-to-PDF results in just the sidebar text and page header, but the actual 'book' is blank; and trying to save a copy with the Firefox extension "Single File" also results in a blank page. There is a copy feature built in, where you highlight text and a little windo
Trackers for books
It's been a long time since I have sailed the seas, so I was hoping someone could point me to a tracker that maybe specializes in books. Preferably one that isn't terribly difficult to join / maintain a decent ratio on.
I have a friend in an abusive situation who uses movies as an escape. How can I set them up to watch pirated movies without anyone in their house knowing?
First, child services has been called on multiple occasions and has done nothing. The police don't care either. They're disabled so they can't just leave.
They have a laptop that they can use whenever they want but their patent is extremely opposed to piracy and won't pay for my friend to buy movies or a streaming service. They watch DVDs from the library on their laptop.
They're also not tech savvy so I need a plug and play solution that will allow them to pirate media without anyone else in the household being aware of it.
How to get into private trackers?
I've been using torrent quest, which recently went down. I really liked the no bs interface. Rarbag and all those others just don't stack up. Any recommendations would be great

ISPs say Sony’s win over Cox would force them to do “mass Internet evictions.”…

Four more large Internet service providers told the US Supreme Court this week that ISPs shouldn't be forced to aggressively police copyright infringement on broadband networks.
While the ISPs worry about financial liability from lawsuits filed by major record labels and other copyright holders, they also argue that mass terminations of Internet users accused of piracy "would harm innocent people by depriving households, schools, hospitals, and businesses of Internet access." The legal question presented by the case "is exceptionally important to the future of the Internet," they wrote in a brief filed with the Supreme Court on Monday.
Seeking a reasonably trustworthy platform for hacked apk.
I used to do this. A lot. But the last time was most of if not a decade ago. I'm very far out of the game and need a refresher on who and what people are using now. I think I used mobilism back then. Maybe.
Any good sources/tips for streaming NFL games starting tomorrow?
In the past, I've relied on whatever stream I happen to be able to find through whatever sketchy site and it's really frustrating.
Are there any legit, reliable ways to catch NFL games as they're happening (ideally that don't require a cable subscription/tuner card)?
Anime piracy sites are disappearing from the web left and right.
Is watermarking on movie Blu-rays a thing?
Is that (still) a thing? How safe is it to rip Blu-rays for seeding?
Edit: clarification. I mean the invisible kind of watermark used as a unique identifier of the disc and associated file.
Best practices for seeding?
I've searched for an answer for a few hours now and every site I've come across is just a copy of the last one, covering only downloading in most cases.
What are the best practices for uploading and seeding (legal) original content to stay as anonymous as possible?

Any I ideas for an Automatization on Android?
I need some help for automatization
I need to be inside an app, activate the action, so it takes a screenshot, then scrolls, and then again the screenshot and so on.
I can do it manually, but it is too much content I need to back up.
I don't mind if I have to purchase an app.
Thank you for your help.
Spotify android mod?
X maniger for Spotify android has been failing me hard last few weeks. Yet to find a working Tidal mod. Is anyone ells having this problem? Got a working modded solution to these services?
My streaming video site went down. What are some good ones?
The website i used to watch streams of tv and movies is now offline. Anyone know of any other good pirate streaming websites?
Wii Games?
So I recently bought an old wii, specifically for the purpose of homebrewing. I'm able to understand so far as to what needs downloaded on the Wii and how to backup, but I can't find any sites with games. I noticed Vimms Lair wasn't an option anymore, and other sites I look through use ROMs for emulators. (Unless, those do work on the console). I think you need .wbfs files, and I'd really appreciate if I was pointed in the right direction
Where and how to get books?
I want to download books and read them on the go. First, where can I get books? I know about libgen, but I rarely find anything I want. Second, where can I read them on the go. I like the concept of e-ink. It doesn’t strain the eyes as much. Are there good cheap tablets I can load my books onto?
Any tips on getting pirated media onto the TV?
Watched the first episode of The Acolyte on Disney+, and there so many ads that I swear the ad-to-star-wars radio was 1 to 1.
...so I set sail. I'm so sick this. But now I've got three video files on the comp (Windows 10), but I'm struggling to get them into the TV... We have a Roku, but apparently my comp doesn't support 'Miracast', and that seems to be a huge road block going by guides online.
Hoping to not spend an arm and a leg, but probably need some cable or something other than Roku. I'm probably the least techy person on Lemmy, so please idiot-proof any instructions.
Thanks all!
Mozilla VPN?
I see Mozilla pushing their VPN quite a bit by I don't think I've ever heard someone say they actually use it. Is it any good? How does it stack up next to the popular ones?
