Community for Pine64's PineTime!
Come and share watchface, tips and tricks and more for the PineTime!
There should be a virtual pet you can take care of on the next version of Infinitime
Like a tamogachi or cube world or that pokeball that came with heart gold and soul silver. You could "walk" it by meeting the step goal. I'm not a Dev so I can't make it, but it should exist!

Imagine if the Pinetime Has Longer Software Support than the Apple Watch Series 4's Mere 6 years
Despite the hardware limitations, it would be amazing to watch the community continue to add new features and fix bugs past the 7 years mark.
The project has 141 contributors, 50 patches and 2800 stars on github and 1393 members in the matrix channel.
I'm really impressed that the watch gets 2-3 updates a year with the screenshots showing an advanced operating system despite the low spec sheet.
It would really be a bad look for Apple when the original Pinetime (Nordic Semiconductor nRF52832 64MHz 32-bit CPU, 240x240 LCD IPS, 512KB + 4MB STORAGE, 64KB RAM, 170-180 mAh BATTERY, 5.0/LE BLUETOOTH, Accelerometer, Heart rate sensor SENSORS) outlasts the Series 4 longevity-wise (Apple S4 Dual-core 64-bit CPU, PowerVR GPU, 448x368 pixels OLED, 16GB STORAGE, 1GB RAM 292 mAh, 5.0/LE BLUETOOTH, Accelerometer, Gyro, Heart Rate, Barometer SENSORS)
Whats the point of having all that beefy hardware if Apple doesn't fully utilize it and locks the new features/watch faces behind the new models to

How is the repairability of the pinetime?
I couldnt find an ifixit page for the pinetime probably because the device is currently not as well known. I was wondering how replacing the battery is like.
The Pinetime Software Efficiency Could Be Like Peak Gaming Consoles
Think of the games Last of Us and Red Redemption 2 running beautifully on 5+ years hardware that both have had heads turning in the gaming industry even the pc gamers thanks to the crafty optimizations made by the developers.
The same deal could happen with the Pinetime as it is open source with an unlocked bootloader and has incredibly talented contributors. It would be funny watching people with Apple Watch Ultra 2s start asking us questions about our humble little Pinetimes because of the killer features we have invented on such limited hardware.
How does the Pinetime compare to the Apple Watch Series 3?
I’m thinking of upgrading to an open source watch in 2026 when I’m primed for a new one. Maybe we will have a Pinetime 2 model by then.
Release InfiniTime 1.15.0 for PineTime
We haven't released a new version of InfiniTime for almost a year, so we are very happy to release InfiniTime 1.15.0 today! The list of changes is quite impressive! I would like to thank everyone w...
Looks like some nice additions to the PineTime including always on display (even though the PineTime doesn't natively support AoD).
Haven't loaded it yet, but maybe a weekend project.
I got the secret Light Theme for the PineTime!
Okay, this is not a secret light theme per-se, just a bug where colors get inverted, I have no idea how it happened, it just did, and even tho I think it looks pretty neet, it's quite bright...
I had to force reboot the watch (after 144 days of uptime... damn...) to get it fixed.
It is a known issue, and the next version of Infinitime should fix it, it seems (https://github.com/InfiniTimeOrg/InfiniTime/pull/2046)
I got some new band for my PineTime
My original wristband broke after 1 and a half year of continious use, and I got this one for cheap. I really like the black and white feeling of this combo, I had to cut off some extra material on the band as it was a bit big for the PineTime, but it ended up really good imo! I got this one from aliexpress for like 3 bucks, I got a black one too and switched the "band holder thingy" so it doesn't look too white!
Just received my PineTime
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.zip/post/18591166
Ordered a PineTime (and a Pinecil) direct on 6/26/2024, it shipped from China on 6/28 and I received it today 7/5. I'm on the west coast of the US and I'm really impressed with the shipping time.
Charged it a bit, then updated to the current InfiniTime 1.14.
Bootloader is still at 1.0.0, there hasn't been any updates for that, right?
It also says to update the recovery firmware, but I don't see which version I'm currently on and couldn't find an updated version.
Otherwise, it seems nice so far. I'm on Android and setting up with GadgetBridge wasn't difficult (since I knew to pair directly from GB and not using the phones BTW pairing).
Currently testing the pinetime
Hi folks, I‘m currently using the pinetime which a friend has given to me for testing.
So far I‘m very happy. Of course, the typical foss situation applies where you have to accept that freedom comes with responsibility. In this case it is early stage functionality in some cases like the heart rate monitor which is kinda spotty.
Cool features imo:
But I already made a list of things I could possibly add to the firmware if I decide to buy one - likely the dev edition.
All in all, I‘m very impressed of the capabilities of a small company and its open source product.

Here is a summary of the changes and addition of InfiniTime 1.14:
I wish the Pinetime had a GPS and an app store.
I have been enjoying my banglejs 2 but I like pine64 as a company
Charged the 6, totally uncharged 28, 22 days on.
Since latest firmware update, Pinetime battery life is outstanding.
I use it daily, mostly connected to GadgetBridge to get messages (my phone vibrations are not very strong. I also use it at night to walk in my house without turning lights on.
Notice that Wake Up is not set at all, no wake up. This also keep your display off while walking/moving.
PineTime – First Look and Impressions
I made a blog post about my PineTime! Please feel free to give any feed back!
Can the notification settings be changed automatically?
I often forget to turn off sleep mode. Is there a way to change the notification settings on a schedule?
