Games running through Steam crash on start

    Hello,

I have happily playing games on Bluefin and recently rebased to Bazzite DX in order to take advantage of non-Flatpak Steam and Sunshine. Everything worked well for a day or two, until it did not.

Both of my currently installed Steam games (Half-Life RTX and Split Fiction) just crashes as they start. I did a sanity check by verifying the game files integrity as well as reinstalling, but it did not fix the issue. I also installed a third game that I knew runs on my machine (LEGO Builder's Journey) and it did not work either.

I ran the games with the PROTON_LOG=1 %command% launch options to produce logs but as they are 4K, 25K and 54K lines long I don't know what to look for. (The logs if you want to take a look)

Ah yes, when launching Split Fiction I have some Unreal Engine-specific error dialog named "Wine C++ Runtine Library" that reads

     undefined

    Assertion failed!

    Program:

When I try to launch Steam, the UI just flickers in and out as shown.

    Framework Laptop 16
    Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon
    AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics × 8

I keep trying to restart Steam, and I keep getting this. Strangely, the first time I tried to record what was happening, it successfully opened on that occasion, but I couldn't get it to work again. I lowered the resolution to record.

Edit: Since the main image slot doesn't seem to work, I'll try to add it bellow:

Edit 2: NVM, it keeps changing it from ![](https://lazysoci.al/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsopuli.xyz%2Fapi%2Fv3%2Fimage_proxy%3Furl%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fi.ibb.co%252FRTjTRgH8%252FSteam-UI-issue.webp) to ![](https://lazysoci.al/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsopuli.xyz%2Fapi%2Fv3%2Fimage_proxy%3Furl%3Dhttps%253A%252F%252Fi.ibb.co%252FRTjTRgH8%252FSteam-UI-issue.webp)!!!

Getting a controller to work on the original Burnout: Paradise

I've installed the fitgirl repack of the original Bournout: Paradise on an old HP laptop running Linux Mint. The game runs fine but will not recognise input from my 8bitdo Pro2 controller.

The controller works on the laptop, as I can play Midtown Madness 2 with the controller no problem.

I've tried the Windows and Android modes of the controller, and neither of them work. I've installed the game through Lutris and it's running on Wine.

Any help on workarounds for this is appreciated. The easiest solution would probably be a program that maps the controller inputs to the keyboard inputs for the game.

    Minecraft clone with spriting?

    Hi!

I JUST switched over to Linux and am trying my hand at gaming. Learned about Luanti and got VoxelLibre going. Game's great, but the lack of sprint is killing me... Looked for mods that would support it, but people were saying that the only one made stopped working.

Are there any good and active (in development) Minecraft clones that have that feature?

Which distro for new PC with Nvidia, playing GW2?

    Hey!

Windows 11 gamer here, I basically only use my new PC desktop for gaming. Using Nvidia. Right now playing mostly GW2 and CK2.

I just started fiddling around with Linux a few weeks ago. I tried Linux Mint but had problems with CK2 recognizing my Nvidia card despite installing the driver. So I moved over to Ubuntu. CK2 is now working perfectly, but GW2 is stuttering whenever I move my mouse, making it not playable. I’m running it as a non Steam game on Steam.

Which distro would you recommend for me? I’m thinking about Bazzite (but maybe it’s mostly for handheld games?) or Pop_OS? Fedora? Or can I maybe fix GW2 on Ubuntu somehow?

All the different distros is making this a bit overwhelming 😅

Update: I switched to Bazzite but unfortunately the issue persisted. When I turned on V-sync in game it basically disappeared though, so problem solved! And I really like Bazzite btw.

Which is the correct Bazzite version for Thinkpad T14 (gen1, ryzen 7)?

    Hi all,

Been using fedora atomic on my previous laptop for about a year (kinoite) and when I bought my current one, I had the guy selling it install Bazzite on it. He installed the gnome version, which is not ideal and also there are a few weird things happening occasionally. I finally decided to just reinstall everything, but I’m stuck trying to get the right settings on the bazzite download page. This laptop has no dedicated GPU and there is no such option while selecting the hardware. Is there a correct choice in this case, or should I just go with whatever AMD GPU?

    Thanks,

EDIT: Thanks a lot for the replies, will try thse settings.

    Experience on the 9070xt

This isn't a technical post just my general experience as I am only roughly two or three months into using Linux. But I currently am running EndeavourOS on kernel version 6.13.7, using Mesa 25.0.1 Im on KDE Plasma as my desktop using Wayland. First off I want to admit I was afraid I was going to have to run away in fear back to windows trying to use this card as previously I was on Mint and I knew I was going to have to find a different OS to use or wait or I found the XanMod kernel but that didnt work, so I switched. The card has honestly been incredibly reliable with a occasional bug but in my experience not terrible ones, Cyberpunk crashed one time when I loaded but it was one time and Ive played maybe four hours since, my login screen did freeze up once but only once and a restart fixed it. I have successfully played Cyberpunk, Marvel Rivals, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and Red Dead Redemption and had no issues except the two minor ones i mentioned before. Im sorry I dont have bench

    Split Fiction - DualSense issues

I purchased Split Fiction on Steam (Fedora, DNF version) and am playing it with two DualSense controllers (using Bluetooth).

At first, I did not use Steam Input, and it detected what they were. It even changed the colors on the controllers, but they immediately stopped working.

I was able to resolve this issue for a while by using Steam Input, but now it randomly selects a controller and does not accept input from it.

    Anyone else experience these issues?

Where is Lutris Time played data is saved?

I am gonna reinstall my system.

But I want to keep the Time played stat of the game.

I found all other data of lutris like banners, runners, runtimes but not this.

Any Idea where can I find Time played data, if it's even saved in file ?

Also does any you know where the KDE Plasma clipboard data is saved ? I've been using that as mini watch later list 😅
