Had to redo a bunch of stuff because I forgot to copy the stuff over from the old host and my disk containing the project files got wiped.

I didn't realize that I forgot to set it back up when we migrated servers. Sorry about that.. 😅

We've closed registrations while this lemmy exploit thing is figured out. We will reopen after things get sorted out as far as how to mitigate this. New communities limited to admins only for the same reason and will be re-enabled when everything is sorted.

We've updated the Lemmy software and have enabled Open Registrations. Let us know if there are any bugs. We noticed we get a lot of signups and approve a lot of people, but not a lot of people log in afterwards. Hopefully this will fix that issue, but if we notice too many problems' manual approvals might come back.

In an attempt to make the site feel smoother and faster we started caching the API briefly. Things seemed to be going fine, so we left it that way. Well, after awhile I noticed things were a bit off. Turns out it was making it so you couldn't make posts, comments or upvote, atleast not easily. So we've disabled it.

For the longest time, Lemmy had no feedback loop for accounts which had been rejected, you got an infinite loading screen and that's it. No easy to see explanation for why your login wasn't accepted. If you are denied, now you will finally see the reason why in the login page in the form of an error toast in the bottom left corner. Such as the following example I did on a test account.

If we haven't yet gotten to your application, it will say something along the lines of "could not find account, does not exist" or something like that.

We recently updated to 0.18.0 and I haven't really had a chance to fully test it. I took a snapshot before the upgrade, so we have a working state to roll back to if need be.

Please do not hesitate to post here. Rolling back snapshots will cause us to lose new posts that took place after I took the snapshot.
