  • Def agree but the experience may vary greatly from "best you ever had" to "dfq this is trash" depending on the freshness of the pineapple and the skill/determination of the cook. Like pineapple pizza is hard to get right but if you get it right it's extremely good

  • My OG freeze combo. I miss the days :')

  • Permanently Deleted

  • Ohhhhh, so point 5 is why I am still single :')

  • Whenever I encounter long compound words in German I always use the - camelcase writing style (idk the actual word for it).

So you go from Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacher to Eierschalen-Sollbruchstellen-Verursacher which is still long af but imo better to read and perfectly legal.

  • Plus if the destination lies on a higher sea level you may want to put the locomotive at the rear to push the wagons uphill (especially if you have a driving trailer). One of the reasons being that uphill pushing doesn't strain the couplers like uphill pulling does and that with a driving trailer there is no need for a locomotive to be rearranged for every drive to be in the front where you have the best view and train control.

Also putting the locomotive in the back allows for better driving control and stability, "particularly when travelling downhill." This allows "the train to be backed up into a siding or other area without having to turn the locomotive around. This can be particularly useful in situations where there is limited space for turning a locomotive or where it would be impractical to do so."

  • Ahh got it thx

Someone who gives up without even googling will def have that problem. But I for myself see the intervals in which my machine breaks increase a lot (and it's not only because of more experience) and especially immutables could decrease the risk to break Linux to a point where it is close to zero (with the nice side effect that it is easier to maintain for both the pc admin and the distro manufacturer).

Also: My experience (and that may differ a lot from the normie perspective) is that as soon as you are able to check forums for help with software at least the beginner friendly/popular distros are less painful to fix when your Windows pc got screwed. And the overall tone in Linux forums has softened a lot compared to when I first briefly tried a distro in 2016 (I returned in 2020 during the pandemic because I had the time and proton had been announced).

  • Atm if you use Linux you either are computer-literate yourself or have someone in your circle (even if it is an online friend) who is and who can help and if we ever got to the point where a random normie suddenly has Linux on their machine I'd assume someone at the computer store will be able to fix it

  • Would suck if I paid ~200$ for an official Win 11 Pro licence just to have Microsoft fuck up my system to the point where I have to reinstall everything

  • I just copy pasted the article into the post so people can read it without having to consent

  • As far as I know a lot of Windows users are unhappy with Windows itself but can't/won't make the switch for various reasons. I don't mean them, they are usually very nice.

I mean those people who judge you for not using Windows because "Linux is crap because of drivers and updates" (as if those were uncomplicated/unproblematic on Windows) and then blame every tiny inconvenience on Linux. One dude I used to play games with topped it when they blamed my Linux distro for him experiencing lags claiming Linux was "messing with the game server" (before that they used to say "switch back to Windows" every time I encountered lags or similar).

Microsoft gives up on users experiencing problems updating their Windows 11 machines. Now recommends a "manual correction"

Windows 11-24H2 installations with certain update statuses can no longer install further updates. Only a manual correction will help.

Last Christmas, a problem with Windows 11 24H2 installations became known that they cannot install further updates if they were installed from an installation medium with certain update statuses. Microsoft has now given up looking for an automated solution to this problem or developing a fix-it tool – The only option available to those affected is manual correction.

Microsoft has confirmed this decision by setting the entry in the Windows Release Health announcements to "resolved". Specifically, the problem description is that a Windows 11 installation on version 24H2, which was installed from a CD (sic) or USB drive with integrated October or November updates from 2024, can no longer install any further security updates. This also includes media created with the Windows Media Creation Tool at those times. However, installations that have downloaded

Hockenheimring to receive 250 million Euros for renovations & new buildings

According to German newspaper "WELT" the investment group "emodrom Group" purchased 74,99% of the Hockenheimring from the local municipality. It now wants to invest 250 million Euros (~275 million US Dollars) additionally to the 40 million it has already spent to make the venue fit for the future. Planned are the construction of a 30.000 to 50.000 m² big motorworld, an expansion of the "Porsche Experience Center" and a new hotel.

When asked about a possible return to the F1 calendar, Hockenheim managing director Jorn Teske, explained that the Hockenheimring had always had contact with F1 but that they are planning to make a "slow and serious" return. Tim Brauer, head of the emodrom Group added "We need to ensure that we won't run into a deficit." Brauer further explained that in other countries the nation or federal state is happy to sponsor F1, something that hasn't yet been the case for the Hockenheimring. "We are thinking in terms of 20 to 25 years - and not short-term" Brauer conc

How is MX Linux reigning #1 on Distrowatch?

Please don't get me wrong, this is not meant to be rude slander. MX Linux is not a bad Distro at all (even tho I've always opted for Debian instead) and peops are free to use what suits them best.

But compared to other Distros (like Arch, Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian or Mint) there doesn't seem to be much excitement about it. I hardly see articles about MX and I have barely seen people outing themselves as MX users which makes me wonder:

Are MX users just low key quiet, am I escaping their presence or is there a different reason for MX' high HPD score?

Btw: feel free to take a shot every time I write MX :p

Does watching videos on Piped contribute to watch time / view statistics on YouTube?

I know that my impact alone is close to zero when it comes to these statistics and since it is just a frontend I'd imagine it will but I'd like to be sure.

It is often claimed that these statistics - as well as leaving a comment and pressing like - contribute to a video being pushed by the algorithm but I guess no one except the YT devs knows for sure (and sometimes I'm not sure if they know either).
